Chapter 13 - The Truth

The boy and the girl lived in the man's house for 4 days. Apparently, the man means no harm to both of them. But somehow, he just irritates the boy by being around the girl too much. At this moment, the boy is watching them playing the piano. He is not going to hide it, it's obvious he's jealous. The man glances at the boy and gives him a victory smile.

"Alright, enough with all this, let's go back to our mission,"

"So suddenly?"

The man looked at the boy sharply. He could stab his body with that look.

"Have you forgotten about your plan?"

"No, I think you're right, we should go,"

The man grips the girl's small hand. The girl glances at him reluctantly.

"Maybe just several hours more," She begs to the boy.

"Oh, My God, whatever," The boy groans.

The man is heading out but not telling them where he is going. The boy and the girl sit in the living room. A beautiful woman with blonde hair smiled on a picture frame.

"It's his wife, he said that I look like her," The girl explains.

"Why do you know all these details about him?" The boy scoffs.

"It's just happened that way, I come to know him,"

The boy holds the picture frame, then he curiously opens the back of the picture frame. The picture inside is folded in half. There is another man in that picture, but the man is not the middle-aged man they know.

"Are you sure that man has a wife?"

The girl's eyes widened.

"Look at this picture, he looks completely different, no this is a different person"

The man in the picture has brunette hair and green eyes. He is smiling next to the woman. He has a radiating loving gaze that focused on the woman. They looked like a happy couple. The boy stands up and heads to the main bedroom where the man usually sleeps.

"Is this really okay? we're invading his privacy,"

"Shhh…something is not right,"

The boy's foot kicks upon an army bag right in front of the door. Next thing, he is rustling the inside of the bag and finds a picture with the middle-aged man in his army clothes with his friends. The boy reads the notebook seriously. Like a complete puzzle, he finally understood their situation.

He holds the girl's hand tightly.

"Do you believe in me?" He asks the girl.

"Well…yeah,"

"Then don't ask question, we need to get out of this place right away,"

The boy places himself on the car seat while the girl slides herself into the car. They already bought all their things with them. He starts the car engine, puts his foot in pedal, moves the gear stick, and drives away from that place in the afternoon. He sighs in relief as he sees the house sheering away from his sight.

"So, will you tell me why we should move right away?" The girl inquires.

"Whatever he tells you, don't take it too personally," The boy speaks with a poker face as he is driving down the road.

"Why?" The girl shivers from fright.

"That man is mad, he's been telling you his illusions."

"Are you serious? but he looks normal,"

"We're lucky that he's not hurting us. It seems like he is in the army before, but he lost his mind and made illusions about being a good husband with a wife and a son, or whatever he told you,"

"Still, I kind of feel sorry for him," The girl replies.

"Ugh please, this time don't make a rash decision again…we only have each other," The boy displays a despairing look on his face.

"Okay, I'm sorry I was wrong." the girl pauses for a moment, "But I have to say you look kind of cute when you're jealous," The girl giggles.

"All that just to see me jealous? really?" The boy's eyebrows raise, his eyes blazed with annoyance.

The girl radiates a smile on her face. These days, she's glad that the boy is not so awkward and shy around her anymore. She could see his jealous, clever, shy, and angry sides. Honestly, it is way more refreshing than him saying yes to whatever she wants. The girl wishes to see more sides of him. They have loads of time in the world to know each other. Or at least, that is what she thinks at that time.
