Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Prologue

Darkness...

Complete Darkness

Where was I? Why am I here?...

Who am I?

I can't feel my body!

Body? Did i even have one?

*Flash*

A small light appeared and what appeared to be a completely dark world started cracking.

My memories started slowly coming back

I was a human called Grey, an orphan. And i had 2 best friends who i called my only family. But as soon as I remembered them, an indescribable rage bubbled up through me.

It didn't take long before i remembered why.

They betrayed me.

My only family who i deemed more important than anyone and who I sacrificed so much for killed me!

Nico, Cecilia...

I'll definitely get back at you!

Wait a minute...

Does that mean this is life after death? I wonder what awaits me behind all that darkness.

The cracking finally stopped and all of a sudden, the dark word shattered like a glass vase and what i saw was a blinding light.

It took my eyes a few seconds to adjust and I realized where i was. I was in a small cave and was surrounded by what looked like a broken Egg shell (Rip EGG)

Was i just Reborn as a Reptile!?

Wait then what is this terrifying creature looking at me!? What towered over me was a 5 meter tall horned demon that made me fall on my back in fear.

"It Finally hatched! My cute dragon child finally hatched!! Say hi to Momma "

DRAGON!? I was reborn as a Dragon!?

I'm pretty sure dragons were fairy tails so this must mean this isn't my original world, but what type of Dragon looks like a demon?

She reached her arm towards me and picked me up,

"Your name will be Arthur, Arthur Indrath"

5 years later

Since coming to this world i was consistently reminded of how different this world is compared to my previous one.

In my previous world we had "ki". The amount of "ki" we had was predetermined at our age and the most we could do with it was strengthen our body and for those especially talented, they could form their own "ki" weapons.

But i was surprised to see that my mana core, which was born with me, constantly purified itself and increased in capacity when I meditate and harness mana from the atmosphere.

As the Mana core purifies itself more and more, it changes colors which are called stages according to this order 'black, red, orange, yellow, silver, white'

After that there is a stage where no one but asuras has reached which is called the integration phase.

Mana could also enable a mage to change the laws of nature, whether that be creating a ball of fire from nothing or changing the landscape. Mana was much more versatile and more powerful than "ki".

Apparently, according to my Mother, I'm a prodigy even amongst dragons, i had already reached the solid yellow stage and was able to manipulate all 4 elements. I also learned Mana rotation in a few days which let's me absorb mana as i fight.

I Gained a human form at the age of 3, it allowed me to have better precision when controlling mana and i could finally use the swordsmanship that I practiced in my previous life. I had Pale wheat colored hair and golden eyes with feline pupils. My horns grew away from my scalp and curved into a sharp point in front of my head. But unfortunately Mom made me hide them using an artifact. I still looked otherworldly and clearly on a different level than those lessers.

I wonder how much power I'll have when i grow up. Will everyone in the world bow to me and my Godly powers?

Mother looked at me and said, "Arthur, you must always remember that we Asuras must watch over the lessers and protect them, It is our duty."

I nodded outwardly but I didn't feel the same inside 'why must we care for those weaker than us? Shouldn't they worship us and follow our orders?' But i knew better than to speak those words out loud.

Mother suddenly muttered, "So it seems they have almost found us"

"Listen here Art, I'm going to form a portal that will take you to the Elven Forest"

The ceiling of the cave suddenly collapsed due to an explosion and what fell through it was something similar to my Mother.

Clad in sleek black armor and a blood red cape that matched its eyes, the figure's pale grey skin matched the clouded sky in the background. The horns were different, though, as this entity had two horns that curled down and under its ears, lining its chin.

Mother immediately covered me with one of her wings in time to protect me from the falling debris and probably keep me hidden from our visitor.

"Lady Sylvia! I advise you to stop your stubbornness and hand it over. You've already caused us quite the trouble after hiding yourself! If you submit, the Lord may even heal your wound," the entity reasoned impatiently.

A soon as he stopped speaking, the world seemed to freeze as even the debree still falling down stopped in place.

A bright light came from my Mother and what appeared stole my breath away. An 8 meter tall and 20 meter long white dragon appeared! She had purple eyes and white horns instead of my black ones. Golden ruins that marked her body shined brightly and then dimmed, This was Mother's true form!

But a wound i never noticed until now suddenly looked huge on her dragon body and i realized it was a fatal one.

"What I'm going to tell you is something that you should keep a secret until your strong enough to protect yourself and your sister" she then took out a smooth egg that she wrapped with one of her feather.

While I was studying the feather-encased stone, I was suddenly pushed back as Sylvia's snout gently brushed against my chest where my mana core was.

Taken aback, I looked up to see Sylvia's purple eyes and the gold markings blaze brighter than they had when she first transformed. As the markings grew dimmer and then disappeared, Sylvia pierced her tongue into my core and wisped out a golden smoke that crackled in sparks of purple.

A sharp yelp escaped my mouth as I blinked, confused and surprised. I continued to just stare at her as she moved her head back, leaving a trail of blood from a hole in my worn-down shirt. My sternum bled, but when I ran my hand through the area, there was no wound.

Sylvia's expression had grown visibly pained and weak; it was apparent even for a mighty dragon that was even bigger than her previous illusion. What caught my attention, though, was that her once shimmering purple irises were now just a dim yellow with the beautiful runes that flowed across her face and body now gone.

"You must not trust anyone, especially the Asuras, they'll do anything to make you a tool and if necessary dispose of you. Do not trust neither your father nor grandfather as they covet your power the most"

A portal made up of myriads of color suddenly appeared behind me and she pushed me with her head into it. I felt tears welling up in my eyes but could only get the word "Mom-" out before being teleported elsewhere.
