Chapter 87 - Nobody knows

He moved faster than lightning. One minute he was standing before her and the next he had captured her lips with his again. Eva gasped inside his mouth as his hand slid down from her neck to her back, to then rest firmly on her waist. He squeezed her hip making her back arch itself in response.

His tongue swiped past her bottom lip, licking all the blood that had spread over them. Eva unconsciously parted her lips open on that sensation and sighed. A shudder of pleasure tingled down her body as she felt her toes curl inside her shoes.

Her chest heaved up and down as he backed his face away and she gazed straight into his eyes that glittered brighter than anything else in the dark. She felt the hard pull in the most shameful way—all the way to her core in a rush of hot, damp heat.

Slowly, he drew his mouth away from her lips as his gaze flicked up, catching hers. "My apologies. I should've elaborated. Even if the intruders weren't here right now, I would've still sucked your lips as hard as I could."

Eva stood there rigid as he released her waist, at an utter loss for what to say for several seconds. "This i-is highly inappropriate and I-I'm sure that nobody is out there anymore."

"I think so too," he spoke and Eva glanced up at him before she immediately looked away. Her core felt tight and she wondered how she still hadn't disintegrated in her embarrassment.

He chuckled again, the sound rich like dark chocolate. Eva eyed him. She wondered who those 'intruders' actually were and why he didn't want her to meet them.

"Why did you hide me from those visitors?" Eva asked, licking her lips— the very lips that were inside his mouth a minute ago.

His brows pinched. "Do I need a reason other than stopping someone from getting themselves killed?"

"So they're dangerous."

"Yes, they are."

"But then so are you."

His chin dipped, his features sharpening in the golden light. "I am not them," he said, low and deadly soft.

Hairs along the nape of her neck rose, and Eva fought the urge to take a step back. "I guess I'm lucky?"

His gaze flickered over hers. "I'm not sure how lucky you are."

What is that supposed to mean?

She stared at him, trying her best to maintain her focus on his eyes and not trail down to the other features of his face.

"They weren't able to sense you?" Considering he had confirmed that they were dangerous, Eva concluded that they were like him or were perhaps more powerful which was highly unlikely.

He shook his head. "No."

"How?" Eva asked, folding her arms across her chest and tilting her head.

She saw his lips twitch and resisted the urge to scowl. "I have a few tricks up my sleeve."

Or powers? "You k-kissed me to hide my scent?"

"I did." His eyes didn't leave her face.

It confirmed her previous doubts. He was extremely powerful and could easily hide his presence. He had kissed her solely to hide her from sight. Eva didn't know what to feel with this information and thought it best for her to leave instantly before she ended up doing something she would regret.

His touch had ignited something in her. Something that had laid dormant before his eyes had ensnared her with him. Now every time he gazed at her with that look in his eyes, Eva couldn't help but feel her whole body flush and tingle under his heated stare.

Knowing that she couldn't continue talking to him in this heated and cramped space, Eva turned around with the intention of departing away quickly.

"Where are you going?"

Her body tightened at his voice. It was as if everything about him was luring her to him. Spending a second without him seemed like an impossible thing to do. His touch, voice, and body seemed like a magnet that her heart and mind were drawn to. It was an intoxicating feeling she couldn't get rid of.

A deep sigh of relief escaped her lips when she saw the shadow of a person near the alleyway and soon Gwen came in sight. Eva felt Theo approach her from behind and her back instantly stiffened. As he walked past her, she felt his finger brush past her thigh making her jerk forward. She looked at his face to see a small smirk take place on it.

If Gwen wasn't here, she was sure she would've thrown another shoe at his face.

"They're gone," informed Gwen; Theo nodded and Eva watched his shoulders relax as if a great burden had been lifted from them.

"We need to get her out of here before they come back again," spoke Gwen and tilted her head to give Eva a smile which she returned with a little one of her own.

Theodore was silent for a while. Eva saw the veins in his arms pop as he clenched his fists and ran a hand through his hair, making it fall back on his forehead in light waves. He looked buried deep in his thoughts and Eva wondered what they were.

After a while, he turned around to look at her and gazed straight into her eyes. Eva blinked and swallowed as she felt her heart pick up speed once again.

For a long moment, Theo said nothing. Then he prowled toward her, his long stride eating up the distance and his face set like stone. "It's your decision. If you come with me, there's no going back," he spoke, his tone serious and firm. "Nobody knows about the place and if they get to know, people will die. My people will die. So if you decide to come, you'll have to keep it a secret forever and will have to lie about it to everyone. If you can't do that, I'll have to think of somewhere else then." he said with a sigh and Eva felt her chest constrict.

She didn't have a clue where he would take her. To an abandoned jungle or to a graveyard which seemed unlikely. Her doubts made her silent for a while as she stood and thought about all the things that could go wrong if she agreed to go with him.

But... he was the only one she had left. Where would she go if not with him? She was useless and powerless otherwise. Also, he was the only one she could trust to help get revenge for her family. They were all scared of him, and she knew if somebody could frighten Isabella, it was Theodore.

She raised her eyes, meeting his gaze straight on as her lips parted to speak one word, "Okay."
