Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Hunt Me Down

She had once sneaked into one of the High Realm's dungeons before with her teacher, she knew how their presence felt like.

She was certain it was a Dark Soul.

Her eyes went wide with alert. She had to send these people away quickly.

Wasn't she just absolutely lucky? Her first time on the Earth Realm and what she wanted was here already, she didn't even need to go searching.

Bliss.

"Are you coming?" John asked her and that was when she realized that she had stopped following them for a while.

"No."

"She isn't interested again because she now knows that you have a girlfriend," the boy snickered.

"Oh, shut up." The girl snapped.

"Micheal can be rude sometimes, I'm sorry about him," John said with a smile.

He sure smiled a lot.

"No, that isn't it. I can go on my own. I seem to have lost something while up in the tree."

"Is it really important?"

"Yes," she said with a sense of urgency, the aura was getting closer. Could they just leave already? "Really important," she added, already backing away.

"Well then, we'll help you look. I will call my girlfriend now to tell her we are safe, so she can come over and help. Maybe even bring some people along with her to make the search and make this place feel safer," he chuckled. "You know what they say, the more the merrier."

Delice's eyebrows shot up.

Absolutely not!

"No!" She blurted.

Were they looking and thinking that she was crazy?

"Are you in trouble?" She heard the girl ask.

"Is there someone after you?" John asked, looking around once again for any sign of danger.

"Can we just leave her and go."

"Yes, please do!"

If they weren't thinking she was crazy before, they were definitely thinking it right now.

"I just really have to go back and you really have to go to wherever you are going to," she laughed.

Not suspicious, not suspicious at all.

The trio exchange a look amongst one another, there was a sly smile on their faces except the older one.

He handed her a knife then.

"This is a dangerous place. I advice that the next time you meet up with someone, you do it somewhere much safer."

"It isn't dangerous, you are just being paranoid for nothing, John." The girl said. "People meet up here all the time."

"How do you know that?" The boy asked and the girl hushed him again.

Delice collected the knife with confusion.

"Well," John said with a shrug while pocketing his hands, "you need a real weapon to be safe out here."

A pocket knife? This had got to be hilarious.

Even after they had turned and gone their way, she still couldn't figure out why John had given her the knife.

Did they know who she was and why she was here?

Why--

Wooh!

Forget that, the Dark Soul was really close now.

It was now time to hunt like a Guardian.

She flew up the tree, waiting silently as she took the lasso from where she hung it by her belt, wrapping it around her hand, her eyes searching. She slid the pocket knife into one of her pockets. Then paid attention to the floor beneath her, allowing all her senses to be at alert.

She heard it then, a fast gush of air, a line of blackness followed quickly. It was so fast, she could have almost missed it.

Maybe her trainings with her Teacher were not in the slightest like the real thing.

No one warned her that they were damn fast!

She paid more attention this time, her hand stretching out her lasso that now had a soft blue glow.

She flew silently to another tree, the Dark Soul was moving forward and so was she.

She heard a really low grunt then she moved closer to land a little.

She squinted her eyes, and she saw it. She flung her lasso into the air immediately then lashed it forward, sweeping through a air before it stopped around a frame of darkness.

Delice pulled back and the lasso sealed tightly around it's prey. quickly in a bid to grab it's prey.

A painful growl cut through the night and a struggle e sure but Delice's grip was tight and this wasn't a fight she had planned to lose.

She settled on land and walked closer to her prey, carefully though. Her lasso was still around something that looked like a tall frame if darkness but she knew that there was a body in it, a Dark Soul.

Rumour had it that it that they had features unlike this form of darkness that they were mostly in, but she had never seen it before.

She wondered how they really looked like. They were most likely hideous.

The struggle increased, fiercer. In response, she flew round it so quickly, allowing her lasso to tie up the Dark s

Soul, holding it in captivity and restraining it's movement.

With the handle of the lasso still on her hand, she allowed it to so it's job of draining the Dark Soul of strength till his struggles were over.

Now weak, the Dark Soul fell to the ground helplessly, low groans of pain still escaping from it.

Delice took a step closer to her captive, preparing herself to see the most hideous creature she had ever laid her eyes on.

He did look like a normal being so far, but she hadn't see his face yet.

She patted her trouser to ensure her daggers were where she had tucked them into. She took one of the daggers, crouched to the ground, then with the dagger, she pushed the Dark Soul's hair back in order to see his face.

She was immediately left dumbstruck at what she saw. He was nothing like she had expected.

Weren't they supposed to look mean, scary and even ugly? But her captive looked the complete opposite!

He looked peaceful except for the light frown on his face that showed that he was in pain. He had dark and defines eyebrows, a nice jawline and a really handsome face. He looked broad too, now that was observing it, he was twice her size.

Twice her size?!

That thought immediately made her stopped marvelling at his beauty.

It would be really hard to carry him!

But that should be no big problem. She had done the hard task and this was her ticket to be a Guardian. She would carry him even if it meant her back snapping into two. Her lasso was sapping his energy too, that should make things easier.

She bent over and picked him up in her arms, and that act immediately confirmed that she had been right. Even with the rope sapping his energy, he was still quite heavy. Breathing heavily, she flew up in the sky, heading straight back to the portal.

So that was it? Catching a dark soul was that simple? Wow.

She was more than worthy.

While she thought about this, she encountered a block at the entrance of the portal, not allowing her to go in. Disappointment washed over her face.

How could she have forgotten that there would Portal Breaks?

Portal Breaks were the times when all the portals sealed up, in order to re-energize before opening back up once again.

They were one of the most important things to know about portals and she had allowed herself to forget that.

"Ah! What am I going to do now?"
