Chapter 11 - •Of course, it's a corpse that you keep in the cradle•

Mr. Spliadanppurte's 'death' or rather 'murder' remained unknown to everyone. He was kept locked or rather 'stored' in his own room and no one was allowed to enter. He was declared terminally ill by

Mrs. Spliadanppurte. She even hired the most renowned doctor of that time and offered him a handsome bribe, which he obviously accepted. His job was to go to the palace for the King's 'health check up' and report it as an increasing critical condition that was impossible to be cured. He was also supposed to anonymously spread the rumour of the Queen's deteriorating health because of excessive drinking due to despair and love for her dying husband who she loved from the core of her heart with all she had. She was filled with sorrow and hence locked herself with her husband in their room and would hardly come out or eat anything....

Yeah it was all a rumour. Although it was true that she used to be a drunkard due to the huge amount of misery that her husband brought to her, she was now in a much stable condition. She didn't stop drinking but considerably reduced it's consumption in the same way as she removed the reason behind all the obstacles blocking her path instead of removing the obstacles. Ofcourse, that very reason was 'He', who was now kept embalmed, laid on the bed with his eyes opened. It looked as if he was in coma, unable to respond, looking lifeless like a mannequin. She, on the other hand, would now go out to have 'fun' without anyone's knowledge in the palace. In the middle of the night, when everyone used to be deep in sleep, she would quietly leave from a secret backdoor about which nobody knew but her. She came to know about it when she unintentionally caught a glimpse of her mother in law, who was now dead, going somewhere through that door. By the looks of her, it could be understood that she was the only one who knew about that door and probably not even her father in law. She had always wanted to know where the previous Queen had gone that day but was unsuccessful.

Anyways, she was finally able to smile, even though not from her heart, but atleast she could try.

When she would return in the morning, her dead husband's 'helpless' face would make her 'happier'. She hardly cared about her children in existence and obviously not about the one that was yet to come into existence. She thought everything was going well and that no one knew. But one knew. Her eldest daughter, Loreley, knew everything...That little girl had seen everything with her own two eyes. Was the little one scared? No. Did she ever tell anyone about it? Never. Why not? Because she didn't care. They were only her parents by name afterall. But she wasn't the only one...

Mrs. Spliadanppurte would always lock the door from inside before leaving at night. But one day, she forgot...

When she returned in the morning, her face darkened. She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. How dare a lowly maid defy her order and enter the room! She thought. She wanted to grab her by the neck and break her into pieces. She wanted to hear her 'delightfully' scream in pain. She felt like tearing each and every part of her body. But instead her darkened face broke into the sweetest smile possible. "What are you doing here, my dear?", she asked so gently as if some 'angel' was speaking. The maid who was just about to leave, tensed up at her sudden voice. She timidly looked back and as soon as she saw her bright smiling face, shiver ran down her spine. She could sense a killing aura and knew that she was done for. She hastily threw herself at the Queen's feet and begged for forgiveness.

"Please ma'am don't kill me...I never meant to defy you, I just happened to find the door unlocked and my curiosity got the better of me. I have done a huge mistake ma'am, I will do anything you will ask me to do, ma'am but please don't kill me, I beg you..... please ma'am..... please ma'am...I beg you"

"Why are you crying my dear? What are you so afraid of? Stop crying. Wipe away your tears. Foolish girl.", She assured her like an angel.

"Thank you ma'am, thank you so much. I would never utter a single word about what I've seen here today... I'll always be grateful to you", the maid answered as a ray of hope flickered in her heart, her body still shaking uncontrollably.

"Of course you won't ever say a word.", Mrs Spliadanppurte replied as her smile widened.

And really the foolish girl never spoke again. She was later fed to the streets dogs when Mrs. Spliadanppurte went out to have 'fun' again the next night......
