♪someone told me stay away from things

The echoing angelic sound slowly became more and more distant and finally faded away. Everything seemed black.
Edward opened his eyes after struggling for a minute. It took him another two to three minutes to regain his posture and sit up on the bed. But what was he doing on the bed. Did he fall asleep? "Shit—", he covered his face with both of his hands out of embarrassment thinking about how Lori probably had to carry him to the bed. Moreover he was in the royal palace where he was actually invited by the Queen. He became stressed by the huge amount of this second hand embarrassment that he gave himself. But wait! Who's bed was he sitting on? Who's room did Lori bring him to? How long did he sleep for? He removed his hands from his face and raised his head to look at the time.
"Huh?", his mouth was left hanging.
What was he seeing? He was unable to process. It was six o'clock in the morning. He was in his own room sitting on his own bed along with his wife sleeping right beside him in the exact same way as the 'supposed' previous day. He proceeded to touch her to confirm whether he was really awake or hallucinating or still in some kind of dream. Yes.....she was real....he wasn't dreaming.
"Hey",he whispered.
"Mmmmm",she lazily answered in her sleep.
"What's today's date?"
"17th"
"Oh-"
It was supposed to be the previous day's date... His wife could be wrong, afterall she said that in her sleep but somehow he felt she wasn't. Then his moments with Lori, their small talk, the Queen's invitation, the angelic voice which felt too real as if those all happened just a moment ago, must have been the actual dream.....
.....or was it?
He must have been too obsessed with Lori.
Unknowingly, his attention went towards his wife. He didn't realise how he had been staring at her for more than five minutes.
For the first time ever he looked at her in a different way. His eyes had this innocent look in them which reflected his wife's innocent face while sleeping. She grabbed his hand in her sleep with her grip getting tighter. He unintentionally started caressing her head, then bent down to give her a little kiss on her forehead.
This woke her up. She was dumbfounded as to what she was witnessing. But as soon as the realisation hit her, her cheeks turned red. Their bodies used to remain entangled for most of the nights but there was never any warmth or love in those moments. Neither it was supposed to be. But his little kiss and that gentle caressing contained some warmth. It wasn't anything sexual but simple and innocent. She didn't know the reason behind those sudden gestures of his as he would definitely never do anything like this in his right mind. It was so unlike him.....atleast the way she knew him, but she didn't want to think differently and ruin the moment. She smiled which made him smile too as her smile was radiating brightness and together they started laughing.
Never did they think that they can laugh together or smile at each other from the core of their hearts and it felt so beautiful... something that should be cherished forever even if it was only for that moment....as in that moment she felt as if he was really hers....
