Chapter 29 - Standards

Xylia could not believe with his father's words. He was degrading her in front of the De Silva Clan.

"Who says I'm in love with your daughter?" Aciel asked.

She turned to look at him and she couldn't see any expression on his face. She felt a stabbing pain in her chest.

First, her father repeatedly offended her and now, Aciel denied her for the second time. She already knew he had no feelings for her, but it was still painful hearing it directly from him.

"So, you're just doing this because you promised to help her?" Victoria frowned.

Luciano banged the table louder. "Stop asking. There's plenty of time to do that. Mr.Harlow accepted the money and announced the cancellation of the engagement so we're done here."

Luciano stood up and Aciel followed. She didn't move and felt so humiliated. What would she expect? Was she expecting Aciel to at least lie about his feelings?
