Ren Jidian had used vines to tie together a bunch of thick branches together to make the base of their little temporary settlement. He also padded on some leaves so that nothing will get into the gaps when it rains.
It was only large enough for two people to huddle close and sleep in, like a teepee hut. They don't plan last long here anyway.
They plan to make a raft, and a way to send a signal to the Graceless Swan in case they got near here. Or any ship, really, perhaps they can gain the pity of some navy or merchant ship and take a ride there, then steal that ship and search for their old ship.
When Prince Weiford returned with the saber and rabbits in hand, Ren Jidian was half-way done and sweat trickled from his forehead down to his chest and his whole body as he worked.
He had long gotten rid of his shirt and set it inside the teepee sitting in the sand shirtless while tying up vines and fastening them with knots he learned as a pirate.
