Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

[clattering plates]

[gasps]

"Oh my god…"

"Ow sh!t"

The cafeteria echoed with loud gasps and the sound of falling silverware and plates.

The student fell to the ground while Killian remained standing, looking surprised at what just happened.

I just keep on watching from afar. It's not like I can do anything. It is their problem.

"OH MY GOSH!" Anasia exclaimed very loudly.

Other students got up from their seats just to see what was happening in the middle.

These students sure are making a big deal out of small things.

Tss.

I averted my gaze back to the table and began biting my sandwich, not minding the world around me.

What are they looking at? It is normal to bump into other students in such crowded places.

Tss.

I was eating peacefully when suddenly someone yelled.

"HE IS BLEEDING!!!"

I unconsciously raised my head and stood up to see who they were referring to. My heartbeat spiked, beating louder and harder than before. I can also feel Kleir's and the others' eyes directed at me, but I do not care. The moment I stood up, my eyes immediately landed on Killian and scanned his whole body.

I have no idea why I felt so relieved when I confirmed that he wasn't bleeding.

[sigh]

Maybe it's because I don't like blood. It would be troublesome to see... b-blood.

I looked at the other student, who was bleeding from his arms. An open wound that looks like a slit from a sharp object. I looked at the ground and found a mirror—a broken mirror with blood on its tips.

Killian is just sitting, heads down at the floor, while other students are a meter away from the scene, with afraid faces.

Moments after that, teachers started appearing, along with some securities. I watched them as they dragged Killian and the student away from here. Killian remained with his head down until they disappeared from my sight.

Even after the scene dissipated, the chattering of voices did not cease. I can hear every word they speak talking sh*t about Killian.

I don't feel comfortable anymore, so I got up from my seat and left the cafeteria. I could still hear Kleir and the girls calling my name, but I did not glance back and just continued.

'Haa..I need a breath of fresh air.'

I wander around the school grounds looking for a better place to rest and clear my mind, but to my disappointment, This school is crowded and noisy.

'Sigh'

I passed by the gym, seeing some sweaty students who were drinking water while girls watched them from afar while giggling to each other.

I stopped on my feet when I remembered that there is an abandoned building right at the back of this gym. But I remembered that maybe Killian was there. That is his spot.

'Well, let me check.'

I went in and found no one in the room.

'Oh…'

Maybe he is not around because of the incident earlier.

I grabbed the worn-out armchair in the corner, positioned it where it looked more comfortable, and sat down. I closed my eyes and thought about what had just happened earlier.

There was too much blood. It was just a small cut, but the blood looks red and is dripping from his arms to his fingertips.

I did not see Killian slit the guy's throat. But I did not see his face defending himself either.

'What if it's true?' something in me asked.

'And then?' Part of me rebutted

To be completely honest. I am not scared, even if he is indeed a psycho. I feel no danger when he is around, so why should I be scared… right?

'I've seen worse than psychos'

I can feel myself dozing off before everything goes black.

I woke up to the sound of a screeching door followed by footsteps. I stayed calm because I knew who it was. I lifted my head, and I was greeted with a familiar figure at the door. I got up and walked out of the door, walking past Killian, who was standing there watching me leave with an unreadable expression in his face.

He did not say a word. I walked past him like nothing happened.

.

.

Eloise, where have you been?! We were so worried about you, you missed all the afternoon subjects!" Kleir exclaimed immediately as soon as she saw my face appear at the classroom door.

It's already past 4 p.m. in the afternoon. I can see students leaving the room as I enter.

"I fell asleep at the library." I said I was walking straight to my bag.

"Oh? I thought so. You went missing after lunch; I thought you got bored and fell asleep somewhere." She said with a laugh.

I put on my bag and headed outside. Kleir followed me until the gates. She keeps on chatting about their class earlier, about the assignments and announcements and such.

"So? See you tomorrow?" She said this while swaying my hand back and forth.

"Yeah." I said with a smile and patted her shoulders.

I hop on the motorbike.

"Where's your driver?" I asked.

"He's coming; he is stuck in the traffic at the moment, but don't worry, I'll wait for him inside the school campus." She said,

"Okay. Take care." I said and started my motorbike. One last nod, and I am out.

"Eloise! Here's your coffee and your strawberry cheesecake." Kleir said as she was placing the plate and cup in front of me.

We are dismissed from afternoon classes, and we are in the coffee shop just outside the school. I don't want to go, but Kleir insisted, she even offered to buy me coffee just to get me in here. It is also raining and too early to go home.

I just agreed because I have nowhere else to go anyway.

"I'm bored…" Agatha said with a sigh.

"Me too." Anasia said.

And the others agreed too. There was a long silence after that, but out of the blue, Agatha spoke.

"What if…" She trailed off.

"What if what?" Bryce asked.

"What if... we go to the beach this weekend?" Agatha said with all smiles.

That gained different reactions from the rest.

"Are you kidding me? We have research going on, we don't have time for that." Anasia said it with disbelief.

"And yet you have time to be bored? Come on." Agatha rolled her eyes.

Anasia did not reply, but I can see them considering Agatha's suggestion.

"Well, you are right, it's been a while since we went to the beach." Kleir said.

And others started agreeing. Kleir grabbed my hand.

"Let's go guys! This will be the first beach with Eloise!" Kleir cheerfully said as she rocks my hand back and forth.

"Eloise? You in?" Kleir asked me with full hope in her eyes.

"Yeah." I said, smiling.

"Then I'm in." Bryce said.

"Me too!" Anasia cheered.

"Ha! Then that's settled. Saturday. 10 p.m., meet up at Starlight Mall." Agatha said and sipped her frappe.

The moments went on with them planning for the weekend; they asked me what food we should bring, and I said cheese, ham, and champagne. I love charcuterie boards.

It was already past 6 p.m. when we got off our table and decided to go home. The rain has already stopped. The others are already gone, while I am still outside the coffee shop, leaning against my motorbike. I don't want to go home yet.

I hop on my motorbike and drive.

I decided to just drive around. The air is chilly and wet.

'This is relaxing.'

I passed by some barbecue stalls and boutiques. I checked my gas meter only to find out I was running out of gas. I better hurry and fill it up or I'll have to push this one till home.

Luckily, there is a gas station just nearby where I am. I fill it up to the brim. Guess I better spend my money in one go. I was about to hop on when I noticed a familiar figure sitting outside the convenience store of this gas station. Alone out in the cold.
