Chapter 1 - My last mission

I spent a lot of bullets, and unfortunately they kept chasing. I don't know what the components of their bodies are, what is clear is that it seems harder than concrete.

Running in the dark alley, for me is already dinner. The sirens of the security car for the Greys–the city where criminals live, sounded loud, deafening.

"I can't kill people who don't fall into the category of valuable targets," I muttered as I hid the gun by my waist.

My eyes scanned the surroundings, there was only silent darkness. Why are they so slow to catch up with me? Are the central police officers tired of arresting me?

I've been in prison seventy times, and all of them managed to escape. I have a lot of tactics, good thinking, and a strong charm. There are many ways to get out of useless bars, that's a principle ingrained in my flesh and blood.

The policewomen used to call me "Geuse". Even so, I shouted loudly the whole full name, "Aava Betelgeuse!" Huh! They gave names as they pleased, and increased punishment without a defense. The just laws in Gray City seemed to only apply to the rich.

My life is full of ambition, innocent blood, and false hope. Being in my twenties–still young enough to suffer, I haven't had a single lover, since long ago.

"To the right!" One of the well-built men, with two weapons on either side of his waist, pointed towards the Southwest.

I, who was hiding behind a large trash can, smirked. Humans who are too obedient to President Gerald are easy to fool.

Without waiting for the opportunity to run out, I immediately ran towards the back. There were only closed doors, and muddy ground—from the heavy rain since morning. I jumped over the rock that was in the middle of the puddle.

The dividing wall between the upper city and the lower city made it difficult for me, to rush up the slightly orange red bricks.

The residents of the upper city do have a high sense of selfishness, when they meet the minority community below – the city where I live. Concern for others is slowly disappearing, because of the illogical rules of the central government.

I slid from the top of the high wall, to the bottom of the asphalt road. Adrenaline pumping fast, I finally no longer feel it – like the first time trying to ride a skateboard. I grabbed my phone and covered my head with my black hoodie.

"Hello, Boss?"

The voice on the other end was loud. "Yes, Aava. Are you having trouble dealing with your own problems?"

"The mission to get out of the Southeastern prison is complete, I have also killed the three pillars of the state apparatus, what about the profit you promised?" I walked over to the sidewalk.

Labor jobs are only low-paying, and of course not enough to pay off the debt my late mother left behind. Beleria–my thirteen year old sister, was held captive by Mrs. Aletta–the owner of a famous cosmetic shop in Gray City.

"You think that money is just a sheet of paper, which can be easily spent? Hey, Aava, if you want your sister back, pay off all the debts of that cheap woman!" Back then, his blue eyes were the thing I hated the most in this world.

My mother–Fiona, left us forever, after a series of accidents on Deathxel Road. Unfortunately, Mrs. Aletta's husband was also in the car, which my mother used to work everyday.

I don't know, mother really destroys people's household or not. However, I believe, he could not do such a stupid thing.

"There's one more mission you need to do, Aava. This time, it's not just about killing," said deep's voice on the phone.

My feet stopped near a traffic light. I took a deep breath again, it felt like I couldn't do more sins. Because I heard from Cia–Mrs Aletta's only daughter, that Beleria was tortured when she disobeyed her will, I was forced to accept the offer. "Tell me, what to do, Boss?"

"The company Liam leads is an obstacle to your future mission, Aava. They will soon appoint Liam's daughter as the successor of that disgusting business. I want you to kill the heir to the company, and make my half brother's life miserable." His intonation sounded like a burning grudge.

Two years ago, Mr. George–a high-level assassin boss, had a feud with Mr. Liam–the person the president trusted the most. Yes, the problem is quite serious. My co-workers said they were fighting over a very large fortune–perhaps a company and land the size of half the country (the legacy of Mr. George's grandmother).

"Killed the heir, and CEO of the Liow Company (Liam ruler of the business world)?" My heart was beating really fast, as if I wanted to face death head on, like in a nightmare.

"Yes, Liam has a very beautiful daughter. Get close to her and kill her," Mr George grumbled, "you're also a member of the nominee for side-level captain. Nothing difficult, is it?"

I gulped, to minimize my nervousness. Actually, I'm not as sadistic as my friends talk about. I just happened to want to do that dirty thing, because of my sister–the only reason I have.

"After I do that dangerous stage mission, will I be able to free my sister, Boss?" I waited for the answer I had been waiting for, from the blonde haired man.

"Let alone freeing your sister, Aava, I can also buy you an ancient palace."

The offer is very tempting. "Guarantee my sister's life better than it is now? Let me think about it." From me wrinkled, forcing my brain to be able to make a decision as soon as possible.

Mr. George chuckled, "Tsk, don't think twice about this limited opportunity, Aava. You know, how is your sister's condition every day?"

Convinced not sure, I finally answered, "I will do anything, on the condition that it is my last mission."

"You can quit working for me, when word of Liam's death, and his daughter's circulates all the way up town."

"I understand."

Not long after, communication was cut off.

I put the flat object in my hand into the right pocket of my jeans. Become a young person who lives without freedom, false identity, and tragic reality. Poor....

Tin!

The sound of a black car honking in front of me startled me. I quickly dashed forward, without standing still. Accidents are inevitable.

A young woman with short shoulder-length blonde hair stepped out of the luxury sedan. Then, quickly ran up to me.

"Are you hurt, sir?" she asked in a beautiful voice. It was the only time I heard such a good voice.

I shook my head. "I am alright."

"I will compensate." The oval-faced girl with natural make-up took out several things from her sling bag. There was a lot of jewellery, lipstick, and papers full of ink scribbles. His expression was like a confused person, maybe he was a forgetful person.

I walked away from her, saying, "I don't need your money, Miss."

He shouted, "I will still compensate!"

I turned around, staring at him in disbelief. "I'll turn it down too."

"As a CEO of Liow, I will take responsibility for the mistakes I made."

I smirked, then walked over to him folding my arms. "Date me, Miss. How is it?"
