We were pensive during our journey to return to the base.
Rick kept looking at the window as Cal tried to reassure him.
He was probably in love with her. I mean, she seemed like such a nice girl.
But life sometimes is unfair and takes people away, people we care for.
But we have to compromise because this is how life works.
"Okay, guys we will make a stop down there to spend the night because the wind is really strong" Marx declared.
"All right, that will do."
We got out of the helicopter and headed to an abandoned camp.
There was only some debris from the wooden houses, besides that, it was just dead vegetation.
We lit a campfire and sat around it. Ahsoka and I stayed awake. We had to talk about something, specifically. I wanted to ask her about the mold and my condition with Harmonia.
"Ahsoka, what do you know about the mold? Down in the dissection room, it was everywhere but it was also a shadow, it was scary."
"I guess, Kaleb explained the basics to you about the mold and Harmonia, am I right?" Ahsoka asked as she cut a spill.
"Yeah, but what do they need the mold for?"
"They are planning to extinct the world, half the popularity to be exact. This shadow will merge with the mold and then it will be something like a nest, but this nest will need a vessel. When the vessel comes in, the world will be in danger, you can't imagine."
"I guess the Vessel is me" I murmured as I looked down at the ground.
"W-what? What do you mean by that?"
"SIgh, I have Harmonia inside me, a part of her to be exact but the other part I guess it's the shadow that we saw, I could feel it, it was calling for me."
"How the hell do you have Harmonia inside you? This can't happen."
"I'm not from this world, Ahsoka. I got reincarnated here like the guy who pilots the helicopter but with me is a way different story. I merged with a part of Harmonia before getting there, it was a light figure. I don't know the why but I hoped you could help me with it."
"I don't want to disappoint you but I don't have a clue about your condition, but all I know is that you are in real danger sweetheart. If those bastards imprison you, our world is done."
"I'm just messed up, if I don't get stronger then it will be my fault for everything. I want to save this world, I promised some people that I will bring freedom but there it came this about the mold and… I'm afraid, Ahsoka." I articulated as I began to cry.
"Hey, positive thoughts, don't cry, you will spoil your beautiful face." Ahsoka averred as she hugged me.
"I wish I had never come here, in this world, I'm again a failure in this world without merit."
"Relax, just let it out of you, cry as much as you want."
I kept crying for some minutes. I couldn't bear the fact that the world depended on me. I wanted to evanesce or to be precise, I wanted to fly like a bird, a bird who just got out of its cage and flew away.
I laid on Ahsoka's thighs as she was caressing my head. That thing reminded me of my mother when I was a little girl.
"You know when I was a little girl and was sad, my mother kept saying to me to think about my favorite characters? fictional, you know."
"Hah, you know there is a character in my world with the same name as you."
"No way, what? Really?" Ahsoka questioned with amazement.
"Yeah, and she is pretty cool but also there is another one with the name Hermione."
"Let me guess, Ginger? Or something like this."
"Hahaha, goddammit it's Granger."
"Oh, I'm pretty sure in our world her last name is Ginger, strange huh?"
"This world is strange, but there are some good people that I must protect, I need to become stronger," I said as I stood up.
"So you feel better now? More confident? Haha."
"Thanks, Ahsoka. You made me laugh, especially with the ginger part."
"All right, it's time to sleep my ginger, come on."
The next morning we returned to the base. I had decided that I would tell everyone about my condition. And that's what happened.
At first, everyone was confused, but I gave a good clarification to them.
They understood that we were in a difficult situation. We had to prepare for it, especially me. I was the core and I had to become even stronger.
"We will go through this together, Anwynne, you are not alone in this, we are with you" Cal averred with a smile.
"Cal has right, we will be together like a team," Malta said.
"You know, I may be stupid sometimes but I will also help with that" Marx articulated.
"I'm so pissed right now, but Anwynne, you are a good person, I will contribute to this as much as I can" Rick exclaimed as he put on his head his chicken helmet.
"Hm, thanks guys and I will try my best not to mess up the world."
Suddenly Valentine approached me and hugged me. I was surprised because it was unexpected, but it felt warm.
"I want you to take revenge for Mama and Chrissy and I will help too, Anwynne," Valentine averred in a determined voice.
"I will make sure to avenge your mother and Chrissy."
"We will make the right preparations for this, and after a month we will strike the Empire, this time will make them suffer as they did to our civilians and some of our comrades." Malta averred.
"All right, now I have confidence, from tomorrow I will start converting some new weapons," Marx declared confidently.
"I will also make some new bats and uniforms" Rick exclaimed.
"All right, let's make them pay," Malta said as she started shooting with her gun on the floor from the excitement.
At this moment I knew I was with people that I could entrust. We had to believe, we had to hope for a better future.
"Also Anwynne, I will take the liability of your training, I may be just a librarian, but I have plenty of knowledge about the mana. I will try my best" Ahsoka put into words.
"Thanks, this time with the true you," I said as I gave her a handshake.
