We spent two days in the forest, as Ahsoka said. After that, we left for a new destination to find a guy that Ahsoka had entrusted him with the condition to help us.
The weather was very hot. Luckily, we had plenty of water with us. But the place was far away.
"This guy, are you sure he will help us?" I asked.
"Ha, he has no choice, he will."
"Is he someone strong enough to help us defeat the dictatorship?"
"Him? Haha, no way. But he's really smart, the smartest person I know, to be honest. He'll be a great help to us, but there's a problem."
"A problem? What exactly?" Sophia asked in a sullen voice.
"Well ... I kind of lied to you. I mean you Ahsoka, there is a resistance team, but this team is no ordinary group, they kill mages. And as you know, I was a mage and I still am, so there's a high possibility they will not let us through. That's why we are going to the guy I told, he'll find a way to get us in," Ahsoka explained.
"Now I am getting nervous." I said.
"Besides, you are going to find out why this guy has something similar to you, it has to do with what I was going to tell you before Sophia informed us about the flames in the city."
"Yeah, I want to know too."
Four hours had passed and we decided to rest in the shade under a huge blue tree. For the first time in my life I saw such a tree. And as I learned from Sophia, such trees are useful for mana regeneration.
The blue trees, or Theia, were created by the goddess Delta to heal her faithful knights so that there would be fewer deaths.
They also had another benefit: Pregnant women could give birth in them without pain.
It was an important gift from Delta to mortals.
"Sophia, y-you must have a great knowledge, you are really smart," I said with a smile.
"Haha, well. That's a common knowledge that most people have."
"You know, you remind me of someone I used to know, I never had the chance to meet that person, to be exact, I did not have the courage to approach them. So I am glad I met someone like you," I said in a soft voice.
"Oh, I am a little honoured, I-I want to get to know you better too. As I said that night when we were looking at the stars. You are such a good and kind person, Anwynne!" Sophia exclaimed.
"Heh, and as I also promised, I will bring freedom to this land and protect you." I said, and we shook hands as the sun began to disappear into the horizon.
"Okay girls, let us continue our journey," Ahsoka said.
The journey went smoothly. We found no enemy or any obstacle in our way.
Night had fallen and we could hardly see, so we decided to spend the night in an abandoned hut. As we approached the hut, we found something we didn't expect at all.
It was a boy, a lonely boy, sleeping in a hut. At first we were so confused, but we'd have to plan what we were going to do.
"Okay, what the hell? What should we do?"
"Well, we can't leave him like this, it's a child," Sophia averred in a soft voice.
"Haha, I'm not going to be a mommy to an abandoned boy, that's not my responsibility at all. Blame his parents," Ahsoka said as she was ready to leave.
I managed to grab her by her coat and take her to my seat, looking her seriously in the eyes.
Her face became like a moyai statue and continued to look at me as sweat rolled down my cheek.
" I don't know what's wrong with you, but we're going to take this child. I'm going to be a mama, not you," I said, staring at her.
"Um, can we relax a bit, the kid is sleeping now. Don't make any noise, you'll wake him up." Sophia articulated as she put her coat on the boy.
"I think Sophia is more suited to be a mama."
"I can agree with that," I said as I touched my head in embarrassment.
We decided to stay there all night until the boy woke up.
I couldn't bat an eye. I was up all night watching for the boy.
Suddenly, I heard noises coming from behind me. I turned around and saw the boy with a knife in his hand.
"Oh, take it easy, boy, take it easy," I said, trying to take the knife out of his hand.
But the boy managed to stab me in the back with one swift movement.
I fell down while bleeding.
"W-what....? Why did this happen to me?"
The boy tried to stab me again, but Ahsoka managed to stop him and take the knife.
"Hey, what did you do to my apprentice?"
The boy was scared and decided to run. I tried to get up, but my injury was deep.
Luckily for me, Sophia woke up and came to take care of me while Ahsoka tried to catch up with the boy.
"What's wrong with that boy? Tch, I can't believe I got stabbed by a child," I articulated while coughing up blood.
"Please, stay calm or your condition will get worse. That knife clearly had some kind of poison. Luckily Ahsoka managed to take this knife," Sophia explained.
The boy continued to run through the forest, but Ahsoka was fast enough to catch up with him.
She put him on her back and returned to us.
"Okay, this boy is the worst," Ahsoka commented.
"It's a scared little kid, don't be harsh on him, please," Sophia pleaded as she finished healing me.
"Tch, anyway boy, tell us what you're doing here in the middle of the night."
The boy didn't say a word and closed his eyes.
"Hihi, he must be shy."
"Definitely..."
"Listen, I know you're scared, but you've to tell us your situation. We'll help you." I said, trying to be intimate.
The boy stood up and pointed behind us with his index finger.
"They are coming, we must run," The boy said.
"Who are they coming?" I asked curiously.
"Daemonium."
