Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Nancy took her lower lip in as she looked at the address given to her by her boss.

She quickly switched her Gps on as she followed the direction while riding her bicycle.

She rode as gently as possible so as not to hit the kids playing by her lane. She finally got to her destination and rang the doorbell. She doesn't feel comfortable as she waited outside, not quite long,a man opened the door,he was bald and seem to be in his mid fifties.

"Bring it inside" The man said.

"We aren't meant to enter our customer's home" she said looking at the man.

"It won't hurt" the creepy old man said with a flirty tone.

"I'll even give you double of the normal money" he added licking his lower lip with his snake like tongue.

He moved closely to Nancy and tried touching her hair but she was fast enough to move to the other side and snatched the money from him before rushing towards her bicycle. The man followed her but she was quick enough to cycle fastly out of his compound.

She breath in a lot of air as she rode along the busy road, not quite long, she parked her bicycle outside her working place. She took long strides as she walked into there with flushed cheeks.

She blew the hair which was disturbing her sight backward with air from her round mouth.

Walking through the door, her phone rang. She quickly dipped her hand inside her pocket and brought out her cellphone.

"Your Mom fainted!" She heard as soon as she picked up.

"Where are you?" Nancy asked shakily.

"The general" the caller said.

Nancy already knew that the person who called was her mom's neighbor.

She quickly back towards the road and even heard when Mr Dave was screaming her name to come back to the restaurant, probably to do another deliver. She hailed down a cab and enter whilst shaking.

She gave directions as she looked down her laps and biting her lips unconsciously.

She took out her phone to call Daniella to join her at the hospital.

Florence lives an hour away from the city, Nancy recently relocated to the city so as to get a job and help out her mother and her little brother Joan.

Being a single mother of three, Florence never had a moment of peace. She ensure to make her two girls happy and make sure the teenage boy doesn't feel the absence of a father figure.

"Are you okay?" The cabbie asked as she looked at Nancy through the mirror.

"I'm fine" Nancy said as she wiped a lone tear from her left eye.

"We are there" the cabbie said after some minutes of silence.

She rushed out of the cab after paying for the fare.

"I hope everything turns out well" the cabbie screamed after her.

Nancy walked towards the nurse and asked for the room number her mother is.

"Room 231, the second floor" the nurse.

Instead of taking the elevator, she took the steps so as to avoid any delay.

Her phone rang and when she saw it was Mr Dave, she declined the call and hurried up to the second floor. It didn't take her long before she found the room her mother was admitted to.

Fresh tears poured from her eyes as she saw the oxygen on her mother's nose.

"M...mom" her voiced broke.

Mrs Paul, her mother's neighbor looked at the mother and daughter with pity.

"Thanks for calling me" Nancy faced the older woman.

"Let's be thankful that I went to her place to borrow ice breaker"

Nancy only nodded her head as she was too emotional to speak.

"Thank you ma'am" Nancy said again sobbing and grateful towards her.

She rubbed her mother's feet as she sat beside her.

"I've told you severally not to overwork yourself. You know your heart condition mom" Nancy said looking at her mother lovingly.

"Wipe your tears you silly girl" Florence said as she opened her eyes.

"Big girls don't cry" she said rubbing her daughter's head with admiration.

She turned her head and saw Mrs Paul, "hey looser" Florence joked as she saw her neighbor who has turned into her best friend over the years.

"Shut up, you scared me for a moment" Mrs Paul said with a lazy smile.

"Mom!" Daniella barged into the room as she engulfed her mom In a light embrace.

"Wipe your tears you little girl" Florence said with a smile.

"I'm sorry for bothering you, I guess I was a little bit tired" Florence explained apologetically to her kids. "I'm sorry babies" she said again with tears.

She looked at Mrs Paul and asked "Why did you call them, you already made my babies scared" she pretended to be mad at her.

"I'm sorry but I'm not that sorry" Mrs Paul replies cheekily.

"Let the patient rest well" a woman who should be in her late thirties said as she entered the room.

She was a little bit chubby and has a friendly smile on her face.

"Let the nurse check your blood pressure" she said.

Nancy took out her phone and saw fourteen missed calls. Two was from Loretta, her best friend and the remaining twelve was from Mr Dave. She tried calling him but her heart dropped when she received a text message from him saying "YOU ARE FIRED!"
