The little girl clutched her doll tightly, "You must be trying to trick me into giving you the doll."
Xu Huo's smile remained unchanged as he took back his sugar, "It's just for passing through."
The child's eyes widened with resolve, and after some hesitation, she finally compromised, "Fine, but you have to promise to buy me sugar every month."
"No problem," Xu Huo agreed cheerfully.
The little girl took off a small hat from her head and gave it to him, gazing at him expectantly.
Xu Huo gave her all the sugar and accepted the small hat, "Where are the children you brought in?"
"They've all gone home," the child said while unwrapping a candy. "It's only natural for kids to go home before it gets dark when they're visiting someone else's place."
Xu Huo didn't say much and prepared to leave, but the child looked at him and added, "Once you're outside, you can take the doll with you. Just knock when you call for me, don't poke my eyes."
Xu Huo patted her head, "Okay."
