Chapter 14 - Chapter 013: The Sorrow of Frost, Isn't it Handsome?

Arriving at the apartment complex, Lin Fan parked the small yellow bike.

He went back home.

It was vacant and quiet, but he had grown accustomed to it. Now that there was electricity, water, and occasional internet surfing, there wasn't much change except for the rarity of seeing normal people.

"If only Spirit could talk, how nice that would be."

He wanted to chat with someone, but unfortunately, there was no one. Even if he did meet someone, he felt that these people were in particularly poor mental states, very irritable, and easily angered.

He seldom paid attention to Spirit; he wasn't very interested in it.

He checked the points.

There were quite a few points indeed.

He began to add points, not only to strength but also to stamina and speed. It wasn't that he had thought it through thoroughly, but by adding points to everything, maybe it could be a bit more balanced.

He added the points laboriously.

After the enhancement, he felt a strange sensation, a warm current flowing inside his body, with subtle changes occurring in every part of it.

His abdomen felt bloated.

He lifted his shirt to look, and unexpectedly, his small belly had turned into abs.

It felt really good.

He checked the interface.

[Name]: Lin Fan.

[Strength]: 40. (Super Strong)

[Stamina]: 20. (Standard)

[Speed]: 15. (Standard)

[Points]: 0.

Clenching his fists, he felt a strong sense of power. He swung a punch; the speed wasn't fast, but it felt heavy.

"I shouldn't hit people recklessly," Lin Fan thought. Otherwise, this punch would definitely smash someone.

The day was still young, and the air was fresh. This wasn't an illusion; it was very likely due to the drastic reduction in vehicles on the roads, resulting in no exhaust pollution and the air becoming cleaner, breathing new life into the planet.

He poured a cup of tea and, holding a book, went to the balcony. While sipping the tea, he read the book and occasionally looked at the distant scenery.

The current view compared to before had changed drastically.

It used to be bustling with people and filled with noise.

Now, it was so quiet.

Time always passed by swiftly.

Suddenly.

There was a noisy commotion downstairs.

Lin Fan put down his book, stood up, and looked down from the balcony.

On the street, two survivors were running out of the apartment complex.

"A-Ming, save me!" The woman's voice was panicked, desperate.

The woman ran too fast, fell to the ground, and zombies relentlessly pursued her; she stretched out her hand towards her boyfriend in panic, hoping for rescue.

"It's all your fault, all your fault. If you hadn't insisted on opening the door to look, this wouldn't have happened."

A-Ming complained, showing no intention of stopping, and ran away.

Their commotion was not small.

It alerted the zombies lurking in the shadows; the group of zombies presented a formidable threat even Lin Fan might have to retreat a bit if faced with such a situation.

"It's too late," Lin fan shook his head.

The woman was overwhelmed by zombies, her screams incessant until the sound gradually faded away.

As for the man who fled, whether he could escape was uncertain; after all, the pursuing zombies were not vegetarians. Their running speed was too fast; no ordinary person could match their stamina and endurance.

Five days later.

Every day was very routine. Whatever was missing at home, he would go to the supermarket downstairs to buy, and there was also a nearby market to ensure basic needs.

Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the interior of the house.

"Daylight, a new day begins," Lin Fan opened his eyes, quickly got out of bed, freshened up, and tidied himself neatly.

He always understood that appearance was innate, but the first impression one gives can be cultivated.

If you are handsome, even if untidy, people would say that has a certain disheveled charm.

But if you are unattractive and untidy, people would call it downright slovenly.

Just tidying up a bit, being neat and clean, can make a good impression.

A piece of bread and a cup of milk were his breakfast for today.

"The feeling of being full is really satisfying."

He smiled, then cleaned up, opened the door, took the elevator, and went downstairs to exercise.

This was his daily routine, no matter how busy or what was happening, he surely made time to exercise.

"One two... one two."

He did leg stretches, left and right, breathing in the fresh air.

Another building, fourth floor.

"I don't want to die..." on the balcony, a man staggered, weak all over, his cheeks gaunt.

He had not eaten for a very long time, surviving on just water.

He regretted not learning to cook or to stockpile food.

Only when a real crisis happened did he deeply regret.

Every night was torture for him; any slight noise left his nerves tightly strung, on high alert.

Over time, his mental state really deteriorated.

His gaze caught sight of Lin Fan at the downstairs gym equipment.

"Help…"

Crash!

The man thudded to the ground, unable to lift even a finger as his consciousness slipped into endless darkness.

He dared not go out to search for food and could only hide inside his home, eventually being starved to death.

Half an hour later.

Lin Fan finished his exercise; it was time to prepare lunch.

Leaving the apartment complex.

"Another exceptionally quiet day."

He arrived at the market.

A rotten smell wafted over.

This smell had been present for the past two or three days already.

Buzz!

Passing by the meat stall, the pork displayed in front was emitting a foul stench with many flies biting and buzzing around it.

"Such a waste."

But there was no way around it; having rotted to this extent, getting an upset stomach was the least of worries, but poisoning could mean a real loss.
