"Let the competition begin!"
As the match started, while the opposing team was amused by the serious expressions of the Shota gang, the young Wishers opened the game by attacking the enemies in a rapid sequence. However, as expected, the damage numbers displayed on the DPS meter were incredibly low. The opposing team received attacks that were as light as ant bites, causing the spectators around the arena to burst into laughter at this comedic show. The opponents themselves were so amused that they couldn't even hold their weapons properly.
"Mr. Vinzent! Ready!" The young Wishers shouted in unison to Vinzent.
Vinzent glanced at his teammates and noticed that their weapons were glowing. The weapon buffs were fully activated. This made Vinzent realize what the sponsor had actually planned.
Vinzent gripped the Sentinel gun, feeling an immense power packed into the barrel like never before. He skillfully twirled the gun until it shone brightly. Raising his hand, he aimed the gun skyward and fired. The sky instantly transformed into a brilliant golden orange, mirroring the color of his eyes.
The power of UR-level Wishers has a unique feature: when they perform their ultimate skill, their power triggers changes in the surrounding nature, as if responding to their special abilities.
The sky transformed into shades of purple tinged with blue. Beams of white light, numbering in the tens, plummeted down with immense speed akin to shooting stars, attacking the opponents and dealing wide-area AoE (Area of Effect) damage.
'Falling Night Luminary'
This is Vinzent's ultimate skill name.
When the shooting stars hit the ground, they explode continuously without stopping, accompanied by rapidly rising damage numbers on the DPS meter.
[ 1,434,452 ] [ 1,434,452 ] [ 1,434,452 ]
[ 1,434,452 ] [ 1,434,452 ] [ 1,434,452 ]
Everything happened so quickly that the opposing team was wiped out in the simulation field, leaving the audience stunned and just realizing what had occurred.
The DPS meter displayed the total damage numbers.
[ 31, 557, 944 ]
Thirty million damage!
It was so unbelievable that the audience blinked in disbelief. Some even wondered if the meter was malfunctioning because such high damage numbers are typically only seen in Advance Wisher League competitions, and even then, they do not happen frequently.
However, when the other team fell in the blink of an eye, it proved that the earlier damage output was indeed genuine.
'What just happened?'
It wasn't just the spectators in the arena; even Vinzent, holding his charged gun, was left in disbelief.
And the mastermind behind this unexpected battle...
Vinzent glanced towards that sponsor, Shan, who was sitting with a satisfied smile, as if everything had been meticulously calculated.
"It appears that many viewers are shocked by the competition's outcome. I will replay the match footage and explain it shortly," the announcer declared.
Then, in the middle of the field, they projected a video replay of the match, accompanied by three-dimensional images displaying every weapon used by the young Wishers in Mr. Shan's guild.
"Ladies and gentlemen, pay close attention to the weapons of Mr. Shan's team. They are all support-type weapons designed to buff teammates, which activate upon hitting the opponent. Each weapon also has different buff durations and cooldown times."
The spectators erupted in gasps of astonishment as they witnessed the expensive items, each adorned with precious gems and upgraded to the maximum. Such extravagance could only be the work of a true whale like Mr. Shan.
"The key lies in this particular weapon."
A holographic image showed the staff of one of Mr. Shan's young Wishers, who was the final member of the team to attack before passing the baton to Vinzent.
"This weapon is the Worship Talisman staff, an SSS-tier weapon that is extremely rare to see in competitions because it nullifies the stats of all team members, converting them into a damage multiplier buff for the sole damage-dealing Wisher. However, this buff only lasts for a mere 5 seconds, with a cooldown of up to 30 seconds."
"In short, Mr. Shan assembled this team using the 'All for One' strategy, aiming to empower only Wisher Vinzent."
"However, this is because Vinzent is the only UR Wisher in the team. Despite his abilities being at the D-tier rank, being UR-level means his power ceiling surpasses that of ordinary Wishers. This allows him to effectively utilize massive buffs from teammates to deal damage."
The spectators were left stunned and speechless. Everyone had previously thought that Shan was just a wealthy sponsor and didn't expect a new sponsor to dare take such a risk with this strategy. Moreover, he demonstrated a deep understanding of weapon mechanics and an impressive grasp of damage calculations. Because the 'All for One' strategy with this one-shot approach had been attempted in previous matches but was rarely favored due to its inherent high risk.
This strategy may yield impressively high damage numbers, but if there's even a slight mistake or if the opposing side can adjust in time, everything prepared for the one-shot will instantly collapse. Many teams thus opt for a play-safe approach, allowing every Wisher in the team to continuously deal damage, rather than relying on a single burst of damage that leaves the entire team vulnerable for nearly a minute afterward.
This approach carries a very high risk because if the timing of skill buffs or weapon use is off even slightly, everything falls apart. And if the opponents withstand everything within that single burst, the cooldown times of each weapon are too long to recover and try again, resulting in an immediate game over.
However, if successful, it's considered worthwhile because not only are the opponents defeated in that single burst, but also a new damage record is achieved in competitions. Currently, Vinzent had already broken the highest damage record in the Intermediate Wisher League.
Many were left in awe by Vinzent's performance, a D-Tier Wisher once ridiculed for his low rank. When placed in the right team and equipped with the proper setup, he could unleash devastating damage that surpassed all expectations.
Everyone was unsure whether to be surprised by Vinzent's unexpected skill or by Shan's unwavering dedication and willingness to take risks.
"This is clearly a pay-to-win strategy! It's not fair!" a disgruntled sponsor exclaimed.
"Exactly! There's no skill involved here. Just weapon buffs and a one-shot kill."
"Anyone could stand in for that fake UR Wisher and deal that much damage."
Several other sponsors began to rise in protest.
Shan had been leisurely enjoying his popcorn, indifferent to whoever might think he used money to win. It was true, after all, and he took pride in it.
However, the term 'fake UR Wisher' hit Shan's nerve. How dare they bully his Waifu?
"What's the big deal? I paid for the win, so what? Let me tell you, the power of Vinzent, my Waifu, that you just witnessed, is only 30% of what he's capable of. Just wait until he joins my team. I'll make him even stronger!"
Shan stood up, looking sternly.
"Listen, losers. If you don't have as much money as me, just shut up."
"What did you say?" Several sponsors were enraged, that officials had to intervene to calm them down.
"And you, old man," Shan continued, addressing the sponsor who had used the term 'fake UR,'
"If I hear that insult again, I'm going to shut you up with my cash banknotes!"
Shan almost lost his temper. If he had had a credit card or cash on hand, he might have shoved it down the man's throat.
The whale was so mad that he was about to slap the other person with cash. Many people were shocked to learn that there was such person in the world.
Vinzent watched the commotion from the field. While many were worried about a fight breaking out among the sponsors, Vinzent's thoughts were elsewhere.
He didn't care much about the Wishers Association.
However, this particular sponsor seemed to know exactly how to unleash his full potential. Every weapon Shan had chosen, both for Vinzent and his teammates perfectly complemented Vinzent's abilities.
Since Vinzent had reached legal adulthood and was required to join the Wisher Association, he had never truly showcased his competitive abilities. Even the Association knew only superficially about his power and skills. However, this person knew him too well, which raised suspicions.
While others might have viewed Shan as merely a wealthy eccentric sponsor from another city, to some, it seemed he had simply injected money to secure victories. But Vinzent knew that everything Shan did was well-calculated. Moreover, Shan never once asked him for any information, yet he still managed to assemble teams that brought out Vinzent's abilities flawlessly, as if he knew him too well. No one else seemed to understand Vinzent's power as deeply as Shan did.
Vinzent couldn't shake off the feeling of suspicion surrounding Shan's origins.
"Perhaps this Shan…" Vinzent thought to himself as he watched Shan arguing with other sponsors.
