Third POV:
The Royale Academy of Elements only opened once every decade, and another as a break. It was so they could focus thoroughly on each generation of the nobility and the wealthy.
As Kai Morgan was about to enter the palace of the academy, he was reminded of the striking event he witnessed when he was five years old. It was during the graduation of the previous students, ten years before he would get accepted into the academy.
Adults who seemed to be in their twenties were dressed in black and white, and were creating strange phenomena in front of the fountain. They were showing off the capabilities of those who studied in the academy.
Hundreds, if not thousands of people were gathered both inside and outside of the gate of the academy as they surrounded them as an audience, and some sat on the ground, while others stood.
The adults dressed in black and white were a walking catalyst, and nature seemingly danced around them while their eyes glowed like the sun, the seas, the earth, and the wind, all in respect of what element they were using.
Each of them took turns since their aliases were introduced to the audience before they could perform.
Some of them were able to release flames from their hands and others shaped it into weapons.
But a flame will always be a flame no matter what shape it takes. Those who possessed this ability had evident scars and burn marks on their bodies, especially their hands.
Some were able to shape the earth at their will. Those who had this power hid in holes, then popped back up like a whack-a-mole, while others made weapons, walls, and many more.
Those who had the power of the wind were able to float. They weren't able to fly since they weren't as light as a bird, but they were deadly. Some used the wind to blow a hole in a training dummy, while others were sharpshooters.
From a long distance, they took control of every movement of the arrow they shot until it reached its target; a bull's-eye.
Some also showed their ability to both control and conjure water from their hands. What mesmerized Kai and all of the audience the most was a student who showed an amazing skill.
Water responded to her every will as she turned it into ice. She was the center of the stage, and a living ice queen. As she made what seemed to be a giant wave by gathering the water from the fountain, she froze it. It looked like a throne befitting her as it formed spikes all around, and floated on land; It was magnificent.
It was as hard as a rock, yet as clear as water. The sun even tried to melt it with all of its might, but to no avail. Of course, if she had the power to freeze water, then she could also melt ice, so she did. The once splendid hard ice turned back into fluid, and she waltzed along as it circled around, trying to find a place to land on.
From an ice queen, she became a ballerina since she continued to dance with delicate steps, carefully handling the water she possessed. Before the audience's gasps and cheers were able to reach her ears, she threw the water upwards, and it spread like rain. As it flew into the sky, it sizzled and froze once again, then turned into both steam and snow.
The steam vanished into the sky, off into the ringlet clouds, while the snow slowly fell down. It was like an early winter season.
It was silent for a moment...
No one dared to utter a word.
Well, they couldn't.
They were stunned at the show they just witnessed. After a few seconds, one guy stuttered as he tried to say a word. Another followed suit, but this time, they clapped.
And another, until a thundering roar echoed throughout the academy, and reached even the farthest wall of the kingdom as the audience that were sitting stood up.
They clapped and yelled in astonishment as they shouted the name, "Luna", in unison. Everyone who performed stood in a line as they gave their bows, while the professors both young and old sternly stood, and held a proud smile on their faces.
"Ahem, now that the theatrics are over," 0rofessor Edegor said loudly. "We shall begin the feast!"
They catered to all of the people as they held a giant feast. The people, in awe, talked of the events that unfolded before their very eyes, while others simply grabbed a take-out, then went straight to their homes.
Kai Morgan, however, wanted more than a feast since he was inspired. He wanted to talk to Luna, the dancing ice queen, and do what kids do: To ask questions.
And so he tugged his parents' hands as he pulled them closer to where Luna was.
As they got closer to the fountain, he saw Luna and the others greeting people with a smile on their faces: like hosts treating their guests.
"Ma, pa, look!" he said excitedly. "I wanna talk to miss Luna."
"Alright son, but remember to be polite," his mother said.
So he pitter-pattered to where she was, while his parents were looking at him smilingly.
"Do you think our son will be okay?" his father asked his mother.
"What do you mean, honey?"
He moved his head near her wife's left ear as if he was about to whisper a secret.
"Miss Luna is the princess," he whispered.
Mrs. Morgan's eyes widened, and bumped her husband's nose as she swiftly turned her face to him.
"Ow!" he exclaimed.
"Why didn't you tell me!?" she asked in a hushed tone trying to be as secretive as possible while Mr. Morgan was fixing his nose.
Well, everyone was busy eating or being fanboys, so no one could have possibly heard them anyways.
"Isn't it obvious?" he said nasally. "She showed exellence in handling the elements earlier," he sniffed.
"I guess..." she paused, but then she thought of her son walking up to the princess. "But that is not the point, mister! Kai is going to talk to her!" she followed, as she still tried to keep a low voice.
"I know that, but let our son have his fun. Besides, she looks to be fond of children," he said in a normal voice as he finally fixed his nose.
While the two lovebirds were busy quarrelling with each other, their son had already reached the princess.
"Miss Luna, miss Luna!" called out Kai as he was catching his breath.
He was still a few meters away from the princess, but she noticed him after hearing his voice. She excused herself from the few people and schoolmates gathered around her as she elegantly walked to where he was.
"Why greetings, young lad," she said in a comforting voice while holding a big smile, exposing her glistening teeth, and bent her head down to Kai's level.
She looked like a trained warrior, despite her giving out a graceful and welcoming appearance when she looked at Kai. He was stupefied at how tall and beautiful she was.
Her height was around six feet and two inches, and she was wearing flat black shoes. She had dimples, and her smile highlighted her sandy skin: smooth and tanned white. A breeze flew by and brushed her short silvery white hair.
"Wow..." Kai Morgan said.
"Wow?" she chortled.
"You're like a warrior princess," he said, not knowing that she was indeed, a princess.
"Why of course I am, young lad..." she giggled. "What's your name?" she swiftly added.
"I'm Kai."
"Greetings young Kai, I am Luna, a warrior princess," she said teasingly.
"Hello warrior princess," he giggled.
"So what brings you here, young Kai?" she swiftly added.
"Ah, I wanted to ask how you were able to control the elements," he said with curiosity.
"Not elements, I can only control one, and that's water," she said.
"Yes, water! Please teach me," he begged her while his eyes were sparkling with excitement.
She chuckled, "I applaud your eagerness, young Kai, but I cannot do that," she said right after.
"Aww, why?" he pouted as he looked down.
"Rules are rules, but tell you what," she smiled.
"What?" he replied as he was still pouting.
"Why don't you enter the academy when you're old enough, then..." she stopped.
"Then what?"
"You'll be able to do what I did earlier, maybe you might become better than me," she said smilingly as she tittered.
"Really?" he looked back up with a beaming smile.
"Really," she said softly, and smiled as she patted Kai's hair.
"Yay!" he cheered.
And so Kai rejoiced as this was when his fire began to spark. Luna went back to her friends, and Kai to his family. As eager as he was, he studied extensively day and night.
He gathered knowledge on how to control water, and did what the books, treaties, and other manuscripts told him, not knowing that it would become one of the things that would block his way.
