Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Currently standing inside the principal office is the man in a red coat. He no longer had a nonchalant smile as it was replaced with a stern expression.

Sitting from behind a desk is the principal, a young lady with long black hair and amethyst-colored eyes, a slender figure, wearing a business suit, with a beautiful face that was devoid of emotions, her beauty was like the masterpiece work of an artist.

Standing beside her is her butler an elderly man in his seventies standing at 5 '8 wearing a standard morning suit with a gold framed monocle. He had a frail figure but also had an undeniably strong vitality in his eyes as strands of gray form.

"Reports," the principal asked, "Of course," the man heeded, "threats were five Octopedians that had infiltrated the hospital by disguising themselves using the flesh of the now-confirmed dead hospital staff. After confirming their identity I then proceeded to terminate them."

"Casualties?" "Other than the doctor and four nurses they devoured beforehand, none." "Objective status?" "Unscathed,"

"I understand," she sighed, "good work as always, Vlad," "thank you, my master," the man humbly bowed. "Also," she stated. "Ivan,'' at her call the butler pulled out a case and placed it down on her desk, he then unclasped the locks and opened it, revealing the contents inside. "As per your's and Lady Saera's request, Sir Vlad," Ivan said.

Inside the cases were a couple of magazines with multiple rounds of ammunition. Vlad steps forward picking up one of the bullets, "type?" he examined, "magic bullet of course," Ivan confirmed, "material?" "Silver, made from the melting of blessed holy relics." "Caliber?" ".22 Armor-Piercing Rifle rounds, fully compatible with your modified Smith and Wesson model 41 'Gnade.' With it, I have no doubt that you'll be able to pierce through the thickest armor or hide when hunting."

Taking out his Gnade he then picked up a clip from the case and loaded it into his gun, Click! Clack! Sliding the new bullet into the barrel, "It's perfect," Vlad commented with a smile after finishing his inspection, "of course," the butler smiled, pleased as he bowed.

Alice sitting on a couch in her living room was staring intently at the card in her hands as she replayed in her mind what had happened at the hospital.

A couple of hours ago in her parents' ward, the entire room was reduced to almost nothing as the man had just put a bullet into the last Octopedian. The room was currently dripping in red and blue fluids as it also reeked of blood and rotting seafood.

The man picked up his black fedora, dusting it off he then placed it back on his head, sirens blared from the outside as he placed his gun back into his coat. Alice stared at him as she had watched the "show" from start to finish.

"Sorry kid, show's over," the man stated as he pulled something off of the Octopedian leader's corpse. "Wait!" Alice called out as he then vanished, soldiers from the Authority then burst into the room carrying swords.

After the soldiers arrived Alice was then taken into custody for questioning, "Alice Heart, age 16, first year at Rising Academy, two parents declared comatose, one older brother of 17, and no other relative in the area, correct?" A male Inspector who looked to be in his thirties with stubble on his face, read out, as he scratched his chin while reading the report sitting across from her.

"Yes," Alice nodded listening to the information listed, "According to the report it says you were assaulted by five Octopedians but when the soldiers arrived they were already dead, four were found with gunshots wounds to the head while another had a strange wound as if something had bit a chunk out of it." The Inspector pointed out, "So Ms. Heart, we have reasons to believe that there was another person at the scene, was there?"

"No," Alice deceived, "are you sure?" the Inspector questioned, "because they were all done in by a gun and as we searched the room and you, no weapons were to be found so, I'll ask again, was there another person at the scene?"

Once again a heavy feeling came weighing down on her as the Inspector further questioned. Determined to conceal the existence of the man in red, with a straight face she replied, "no, there was no one else there."

Silence filled the room before the Inspector cracked a light smile at her replies. The pressure was lifted and the Inspector got up and reached into his pocket pulling out a card, "here, take it," he handed the card out to Alice which she then accepted, "It's my contact information, if you ever need help give me a call. Now, I'll have someone get you home."

With that, he then exits the room and into the hall. "Inspector Damian!" his subordinate called, "what should we write for the report?" his subordinate, who was listening in on their conversation asked. "Just put down: the soldiers arrived on time and handled the monsters," the Inspector care-freely instructed, "but how do we explain the gunshots?! The destruction of property?! The strange sigils?! And the evidence that suggests a ninth being was at the scene?!" he panicked.

"Don't worry, just do what I told you to do and it'll be fine, besides the witness herself denies the possibility of anyone else at the scene," the Inspector reassured as he then placed both hands on his subordinate shoulders and looked him dead in the eyes, "got it?"

"Yes sir!" He saluted, shuddering before running off to write the report, 'I swear that guy really knows how to make a mess,' Damian chuckled as he thought, 'I can always count on them to have me somehow handle the aftermath. Would it kill him to at least be a little discrete?' Damian sighed as he knew it wouldn't happen knowing his personality, 'and besides what an interesting girl she is, concealing his existence.'

Alice stared at the card in her hand, the card wasn't the one the Inspector handed her but instead it was the card she picked up at the hospital ward. It was the card the man in red dropped. She was currently in disbelief as she realized the card was a student's ID from Rising Academy, the same school she was attending. It contained the man's identity:

name: Vlad Stryker, year: 2, age: 17, rank: 206/210, class: A, position: marksman. 'That person is my senior and he's ranked 206th out of the 210 students in the second year,' she thought but remembering how he had toyed around with those Octopedians she naturally didn't believe in the ranking.

Her brother was also in the same year and class as him and was ranked as the number one student in the second year but despite that she believed not even he could make light work of the monster like Vlad did.

'I need to meet him,' Alice thought lying down on the couch.
