Everyone in class had been making some progress with their semblances. Ruby seemed to almost triple her speed. I guess that's from training with Pyrrha. I wasn't sure what Pyrrha had done, but Mars was proud of her.
I couldn't stand the idea of actually calling him a professor. However Ren and Jaune seemed overjoyed from their training. They have just been sitting in places and using their semblances on each other. Jaune's semblance seemed to be some sort of amplification? He did like me, maybe I should trick him into helping me.
I rubbed my head, I jumped though when Blake put a hand on my shoulder. "Are you okay Weiss?"
I shuddered, I wasn't. "No, I'm fine." That made me seem less fine. I sighed, "How is your semblance project going?"
Blake smiled, "Well, my semblance is still the same. It's kind of hard to explain, but normally when I use my semblance it creates a clone that is in the exact same place and pose I used it at. The only thing I learned to do is how to pose my shadows differently than when I used my semblance."
Blake used her semblance to prove her point, a frozen statue of herself form. However it was posed backwards in the chair rather than how she sat forward in it. She smiled, "See? I can also twist its limbs and head in odd directions. Though it's a little creepy."
I nodded and put my head in my hands. "I haven't made any progress. I've been struggling to summon anything for all my life! and when I do summon something it vanishes seconds later."
Blake shrugged, "At least you are having an easier time than Nora. Though I think she enjoys it..."
I sighed, "She was given shock collars, right?"
Blake flipped opened her book. "Yeah a collar, bracers, and a corset that shock her." Blake let out a small chuckle, "She broke three door handles since it shocked as she opened them."
I flipped another page in my own book, Mars told me to ask Professor Gaz about my family. She directed me to a bunch of expedition logs. "Didn't the Dean say something about that?"
Yang dropped into a seat across from me. "At first she did, an hour later though. Apparently the Headmaster thought it was a creative solution to Nora's semblance. Electricity doesn't or can't hurt Nora so..."
Yang let the statement die, Yang also seemed to be struggling with her projects. She was the only other person who seemed to have a problem with Mars too. She had been avoiding him more than I have.
I flipped the page again and my eyes went wide. A picture of my grandmother, I only ever saw one portrait of her and it was badly damaged. She looked like the embodiment of the snow itself. Her eyes however... Her eyes were glyphs.
I slammed the book shut and looked up. I realized Yang was looking at her phone. Blake looked up at me briefly, but went back to reading. "I'm going to go practice more."
Yang paused, "I actually have to go as well, my uncle has apparently arrived in town."
Blake nodded, "Well, I'm done with all my assignments. So I'll be here reading."
I gave a curt nod of my own and marched out the library. I headed straight for the classroom.
------
Weiss busted through the door as I was eating my sandwich. She frowned, "Do you ever work?"
I frowned back, "It's lunch? Are you always cranky little princess."
Weiss frowned harder than me now. "How did you know?"
I sighed at her nonsensical question. "How did I know what? That you only wear white underwear? That you are insecure about your semblance so you over compensate in other aspects. Or that your grandmother was some sort of witch?"
Weiss changed her expression several times until it settled on annoyance. "You know what I am asking."
I put my sandwich down, "Do I? You have such obedience, but no loyalty. Shouldn't you call me Sir? or should I tell you to call me Master?"
She grinded her teeth together, "No, Sir. You don't need to do that."
Making her comply without the enchantment was the point of the enchantment. Corruption took time, and that was the fun of it. I shrugged though, "To answer your question I just did a browser search. From there I crossed reference oddities, not everything is on the internet though. So I went and asked Gaz. I planned to ask you, but she directed me to those logs in your arms now. Four in total, they aren't secret, but they are missing information."
Weiss paused, "I hadn't gonna that far yet."
I frowned, "Let me guess you stopped once you saw your grandmother?" I clicked my tongue, "Tch, you really are a princess. I thought your personality improved after your conflict with Blake's past."
She tried to correct me, "It wasn't a conflict!"
I corrected her with a simple question. "What was it then?"
She stiffened, "It was a minor..."
She struggled to find a word and I smiled, "An obstacle? Disagreement? What other word do you want to use for your own bigotry princess?"
Her voice died in her throat. She had no response, because in more than one way it was true. She was still feeling guilty about the stuff she said. She didn't actively harass the Faunus students, but she certainly looked down on them and spoke badly of them.
I gave her an out, "So the reason you are here? The real reason, because to ask me about research it took me about 1-2 hours to do. That seems a little impulsive, specially since most of that time was me talking to Gaz."
Weiss sighed, "How would you... Do this?"
She opened the book and showed the grandmother. The picture where her eyes were glyphs. I looked up at Weiss and shook my head. "Honestly? I don't know. I've thought about it for a week now. I could use my semblance to do something similar. However I would need to be alive for it to work. So I can't help you with understanding your family tree Weiss. However that isn't why told you to do this research."
I took the book from Weiss and flipped forward. "Perhaps you should have read more of the logs before you came to me? I see you took my suggestion as nothing more than decoration." I stared into Weiss's eyes, "So go Princess, either come up with something or when the next time you come into class, you will stripe down into the nude and cluck like a chicken."
Her eyes filled with fear, her eyes flicked backwards to the book in her hands. To her Grandmother's semblance research. The book was labeled as an expedition log, but it was closer to a diary. Weiss hadn't discovered that fact however.
She looked straight down and turned to flee, but before she got out the door. I gave her a warning, "Impress me Weiss or face the consequences. Unless you wish to be humiliated."
