the sunlight peeked through the red curtains in the room jane her eyes squinted and her hand travelled to cover the beam of light touching her face
the dust particles were visible in that ray of sunshine, jane threw her blanket aside and sat up on the bed with her dark black hair falling on her back
processing the situation she stood up and walked towards the washroom to take a shower
taking a hot shower relieved the dizziness she was feeling after waking up
the bell rang while she was still in her bathrobe
"might be one of the parcels" she spoke making her way towards the door but at the last minute she decided to peek through the door hole
there stood Jim along with his grandfather
"sh#t" she cursed under her breath and ran towards her room to wear her clothes
wearing them instantly she rushed to open the door for them and greeted the grandfather politely and rolled her eyes at Jim
"Are you going somewhere child" Mr Stephan inquired "n-yes uncle I have to go to my job" she responded Mr Stephen handed her over a box "keep this inside I've specially prepared this for you " he spoke
"thank you uncle once I'll be back I'll enjoy it " she bowed to them and left
sitting inside her car she went towards her office
she was working as the assistant of a very well-known author Mr smith also she was training to become an author just like him
"good morning jane" the receptionist shouted
"good morning Sarah" jane greeted back and kept walking toward the elevator
entering inside the started checking if she received any important emails gladly there was no email except the one from her mother
she had asked jane to come back home once to meet her father whose health was declining and his wish was to see his daughter, jane's eyebrows furrowed but, there was a ding sound indicating the elevator had reached the 5th floor
some time had passed but jane couldn't stop thinking about the text her mother sent her
what will happen if something happens to her father will she be the one to blame
"miss jane you don't look too well today I think you should head back home"
Mr smith said while worry was visible in the older one's voice
"yes sir I think I should head back thank you "
saying this she took her things and headed back to her apartment
sitting on her bed she kept thinking deeply about whether she should go or not
why would she if they didn't lock her up that day Riley might have been alive today
tears flowed from her eyes as she again fell into the pit of memories she didn't want to remember
flashback
she couldn't be recognised with dry lips, messy hair, or tear-stained cheeks it was 5 days since Riley died but she couldn't accept that fact
with weak legs, she stood up wiped her tears and opened his letters
"My dear Janet,
when this letter will reach you I'll no longer be here with you but I know a part of me will always be alive within you, I can't hold this much longer they mock me every day they even came outside my house and tormented me in front of the whole neighbourhood all people think of me the way they wanted I'll leave this world soon because I am not as strong as you Janet I wished to protect you but I failed and became a victim myself all you have to do is stay alive for me, surely we'll meet one day since we share the same faith
your Riley "
carefully closing the letter she watched herself in the mirror and said "I won't disappoint you Riley I'll take your revenge"
flashback ends
standing in front of her parent's house she saw the window of her room memories kept gushing back to her, the amount of time she spent in this room was insane
her mind kept contemplating whether she should go inside or not even if she tries to forgive her parents Riley's face appears in her mind, it seems like she was living for Riley more than herself
the door unlocked revealing a young doctor leaving he was there for his father's check-up
"oh hi" he spoke while making adjusting his white coat " I am doctor Jason I saw your picture inside you must be the only daughter in this family right? "
"yeah how's my father " she questioned Dr Jason fixed his glasses and spoke " well to be honest so don't think so your father will be able to make it he's mentally and physically sick and there is no will from his side to recover he is in that pit of depression from where it's nearly impossible for us to bring him back but now since you're back here there's hope for him to recover I don't know what happened between you guys but I know he is in guilt for whatever beef is in between you guys it's a family matter and I don't want to influence you with my opinions so I'll take my leave " Dr Jason bowed and sat in his car
"thank you, Dr Jason " jane whimpered as tears began to flow down her eyes she secretly blamed herself for all the things
