"You're meeting the boys?" Rochelle asked, making me shocked a little bit. I have been trying to sneak out. But, it seems I got caught.
"No! I mean yes," I said stuttering. I have tried to lie to her in the past but unfortunately, she always catches me red-handed. So, it's better if I don't try.
"Babe, I told you it's not a good idea to go after him. Why don't you just move one?"
"Rochelle, see I have told you multiple times that I have moved on and that's the truth," I said, feeling blood rush through my spine.
"Then why are you going back to hang out with the guys after so many years?" She asked, looking at me with questioning eyes.
"I'm going because Drey invited me to hang out with them. I'm really not in the mood to argue with you. bye!" I muttered avoiding her from asking me further questions.
"How did Drey get your..." She tried to ask but stopped when she saw I was wearing my helmet and ready to start the bike. "bye then. Just know you have a lot of things to explain when you come back."
I drove my bike away at a high speed before she could make me change my plans. I and Rochelle really changed so much since high-school. I have always been the nerdy type while Rochelle has been very outgoing and popular.
I remember she always saved me from getting bullied but it seems like the tables have turned. I'm the one saving her this time.
In a split of a second, I reached the gym. I really miss this place. I used to spend most of the day here. Always hanging out with the boys.
"Is this Avani?" Someone asked before I could even remove my helmet.
I turned my head to the direction where the voice came from. My eyes met a very hot boy. His body showed out the evidence that the gym is his second house. Also, how can we forget those long lashes and perfect eyebrows which I have always been jealous of.
"Is that Aiden?" I sarcastically asked, making my way to the gym entry.
"You can still differentiate us?" He seemed to be shocked.
"Yes!" I said giving him a hug. It wasn't the awkward hug since I have always been very comfortable around him. I'm very happy it didn't change.
Most of the people wondered how I could differentiate between Aiden and Austin. Both of them are really so identical that even the other boys find it hard to differentiate between them. The only difference between the twins is Aiden has a little bit of a crooked smile.
"Girl, you really became hot. I would kill to be with you," Aiden mumbled sniffing my hair.
Aiden has always been a fan of my shampoo. I remember at grade ten he wanted to impress his crush so he sneaked inside my room and stole my shampoo. He was smelling like me the whole day. The boys made fun of him telling him how feminine he was smelling.
"You don't look bad yourself," I said flirtatiously.
"I'm not letting you friend zone me again," He sweetly said, making a pouty face.
I and Aiden went on a couple of dates back then but, we decided it'll be better if we stayed friends.
"Are you going to keep on hugging her all day?" Another voice entered our chat making Aiden smirk.
"Ignore him," Aiden ordered winking at me.
"Avani, won't you come to give your favourite twin a hug?" Austin asked, opening his arms for me.
"I can't ignore him, he is so cute," I said to Aiden pulling my body out of his grip.
"What do you mean he is cute? Both of us look exactly the same."
He looked really cute pouting. "Still he is cuter," I said pinching his cheeks.
I made my way to where Austin was standing. He immediately engulfed me into a hug.
The hug was tight that for a moment I was scared that he would crush my bones.
"I can't handle this hotness," Austin exclaimed, making me slap his chest.
"It seems like the boys did a good job training you how to flirt."
Austin has always been the shy one. He has been committed into a relationship, unlike his brother who always had flings every week. Also one of the things I loved about Austin is the fact that he is my secret keeper. I would always go to him when something was bothering me.
"Let's go inside and meet the other boys,"
"The other boys?" I questioned what it meant.
I hope the person I'm thinking of doesn't include the other boys. What the hell I'm I saying? I mentally questioned myself. I don't care if he is here. Everything we had before has ended and there is no need to think about him.
"Check who is here, " The twins said it out at the same time.
Their voices made few heads turn making me self conscious for a minute. What the heck the place Is full of men. I took a note to kill Drey later on. He told me that him and the boys were going to be there but now it seems like a whole estate of men has been invited.
"Baby girl!" Drey's voice shouted at me as he came towards my way.
"Maintain the distance, no need to come near me," I let out the moment he came Infront of me.
"Hmm, you didn't only glow up. You also became feisty." He said, pulling me into a hug.
"Why the hell are there all these men here? I know it's a gym but why are they drinking?"
"Ooh! I forgot to tell you. We're just having a little party," Drey answered.
"I thought you guys don't throw parties anymore."
"We'll talk about that later, let's get a drink."
"I don't drink. Also, I'm old enough to know that we're in a gym, not a club," I said out in a soft tone feeling insecure about being surrounded by numerous men and all of them looking at me as if I am some kind of snack.
"I can bring the world for you, babe." He said placing his hand on my shoulders.
"Then why are you not allowing me to be a trainer at your gym?" I said taking the opportunity of the lie he just said to make me forget that I was angry with him.
"I just can't. This place is dangerous and full of men."
"He is the one who told you not to let me work here isn't it?" I said removing his hands from my shoulder and facing him.
"Who the hell are you talking about?"
I clapped my hands in slow motion, catching more attention than I was already receiving. I tried to control my anger and not punch the heck out of the people glaring at me. In a hushed tone, I said, "Drey, don't act stupid you know who I am referring to. Instead of giving me an excuse why don't you just tell me that you don't want me here?"
"I can assure you that he has nothing to do about my decision."
"Then prove it, Drey. I know you can't say no to me. Hire me, Drey. I promise I'll deal with anyone who tries to do something to me," I said trying to act strong but my voice came out pleading.
He kept quiet for a moment then nodded at the Aiden and Austin. "Ok then," He mumbled with a defeated voice.
"Really? Thanks. I know I would change your mind if I met you," I said, feeling happy all of a sudden. But, then I remembered that I am not a person who laughs anymore. I changed.
"So, when should I start working?" I asked getting back to my grumpy self.
He looked around and said, "You can start tomorrow since there is a party going on here."
"Then I'll see you tomorrow. After you boys night over at the gym, " I said dragging the last part longer than it's supposed to be.
"It's just a party, not night over, " Dray lied.
"Yes! a party that anyone with cherries is not invited, " I sarcastically mumbled.
The boys usually had this kind of night overs where they would drink their asses off. They mostly did it when one of them broke up with someone or had something bothering them. They always hid it saying that it is a party. I remember a time that they called me drunk and spilt the beans.
I looked around the gym one more time then pulled my body to get out of the place. Before I could exit the room. A very hairy and huge arm grabbed my waist and spun me around.
I came face to face with blue eyes which got darker every second.
"I can make you feel things, babe," His deep voice said as he tightened his grip on me.
"I can also make you feel things no one ever did, " I answered him.
"You have all the permission to do it. But, I don't think it will be alright to do it in front of us so let me take you home."
I looked at him mentally feeling sorry for him. "There is no problem. We can do it here," I said, removing his hand from my waist.
Shock overtook all his features. I immediately grabbed the collar of his shirt and dragged him inside the gym then threw him on the floor. A very loud thud made everyone pay attention to me.
"Before you touch me next time thing twice or else I'll be your worst nightmare," I said kicking in the place where the sun doesn't shine.
I could see all the guys inside the gym looking at me with astonished faces and their mouths open.
"Close your mouth we don't need the flies entering," I sassly said to Aiden who was standing next to me. "That's all folks. Enjoy the party."
I made my way to the exit and drove my bike away. In no time, I reached home. At the moment I'm sitting at the dining table. Rochelle is sitting across me as she taps her figures on the table.
"So, what did you do with the boys?"
"Nothing much. We just hung out and had a great time," I efficiently lied knowing that she won't think I'm lying this time.
"So, why did Drey contact you after all these years?" She again interrogated me. I swear that is the disadvantage of having a cop as a friend or generally having a close friend.
"I told you one hundred times. He just wanted to hang out."
"I'll be waiting for you to tell me the truth. You better hurry up."
"So, you won't budge away from asking those questions, will you?" I asked immediately, receiving a nod from her. "Basically it's just that I am the one who contacted him not the other way round."
"Why?"
That's one of the things I like about Rochelle. She isn't the type of person to judge you before she listens to the whole thing. Maybe that's what she is trained at doing.
"Because I wanted a job," I simply answered without pushing around the bush.
"I told you I'll find you one so what was the need to get in contact with the boys again? You know they will hurt you again when you get attached to them."
"I really didn't want to disturb you and you know how I can't stay home all day. Don't worry about the boys this time I'm stronger and I won't get attached to any of them. Everything I'll do there will be just professional. Also, keep in mind that they are no longer my friends."
"I really hope you can stay away from them. Also no beating anyone. Got it?"
"Yes, your highness," I said, remembering the fact that I lost my previous job because of beating the hell out of people.
I worked as a trainer in one of the gyms around the Corner. Most of the guys who came there literally had no manners. I would beat to pulp anyone who tried to touch me. After endless complaints about me beating them, the owner fired me.
"What are you making for dinner?" I asked entering the kitchen.
"Linguine With Clams," She simply answered, making me salivate.
I and Rochelle bought this apartment two years ago after we finished high-school. We saved up money from part-time jobs while in high school not to pay for university pills but rather rent an apartment. We decorated the apartment like our own and it's really perfect for the two of us. It has three bedrooms, two toilets, kitchen and a very spacious living room.
"The food is ready," She said, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"I would kill to eat this every day," I said after taking the first bite.
I feel like me and Rochelle's personality and skills contrast really well. She's good at cooking and I'm pretty good at cleaning.
"Goodnight then," Rochelle said after she finished eating.
Night," I answered, staying back to clean the dishes.
After finishing all the work, I took a shower and wore my pyjamas.
Fate is like a strange, unpopular restaurant filled with odd little waiters who bring you things you never asked for and don't always like. Hope fate has different plans for me tomorrow.
