Chapter one
Ace laced up his black Chelsea boots and ran downstairs taking the steps two at a time, being an only child to two workaholic parents made living alone in his mansion extremely lonely but life as he knew it was about to change he just didn't know if yet.
Ace Reed, the first and only child of Mr. and Mrs. Reed, both surgeons and heads of departments was a head-turner with his Dark eyes and bright red hair, he was six foot six inches and beautiful and this boy knew it. Girls threw themselves at him and he let them, he was spoilt and he didn't Care he lived a Carefree life, he had everything he wanted what more could a person possibly need.
The air was hot and humid against her skin, it blows in through the window of the Toyota that was taking her to her new life, away from the whispers, away from the stares, away from him. It was messing up her hair
"good," she thought she never wanted to pack it up in the first place but her mum always says packing up her blond tresses always brings out her sky blue eyes, the reason behind her name, the reason he noticed her in the first place. Maybe the breeze could also dry up her tears nothing else seemed to.
"Sky I want you to put in an effort OK?" Those were the first words Sky's mum uttered on driving into her sister's new construction neighborhood. Moving her daughter out of the home she grew up in and into her sister's home wasn't easy for her to do but she was lost, she didn't know how to help sky or if Sky even wanted her help.
She missed the sky that would light up her world with just a smile, her generous daughter that gave away her time and effort helping others, her Sky was brilliant and bright and beautiful but these days she had become a shadow of herself and Mrs. Baker was lost. A change of Scenery might help, it must help she just wanted her baby back.
Standing on the wide porch made of oak wood-coated white with two long wooden seats and a single-seater swing chair was Loren waiting on the front porch with Ty eager to welcome her sister and Sky.
The sun shone brightly as Jules got down from the car In a rush to go hug her sister, this was the second time Sky would be visiting her aunts' house, the first time she was 10 and her dad had just passed. Seeing as she has experienced this type of loss before she should be used to it Sky thought but practice doesn't always make perfect.
"You grew up," Ty said while helping his cousin drag her luggage into the house leaving their mothers outside still locked in a tight embrace. Jules and Loren have always been close, growing up Sky thought they we twins with the same blond hair and brown eyes, they did everything together, they even completed their sentences sometimes, they told each other everything, and judging from the sympathetic look her aunt threw her when she got out of the car she could bet her life that her aunt knew
"Great" sky thought
The noise coming from the backyard caught Sky's attention and interrupted the response she was about to give Ty
"Oh sorry," Ty says apologetically pulling the bags to the passageway and into the second room on the left "Dad's the coach of the school's Basketball club and we're having practice"
"Oh" sky didn't think she was ready for socializing especially with a lot of people, people were curious they ask questions and she wasn't ready to be under anyone's magnifying glass, at least not yet.
It seems the party in the backyard was moving inside moving toward the window Sky noticed a lot of sweaty guys and an older man with brown hair and eyes a lot like Tyler's
"That's Dad" Ty's words echo through my head as I count the number of persons I'd have to make conversation with, 1....2....7 oh .....11
......"He's called coach Williams by the team..." Tyler continues as I take a good look at the room, this is where I'll be spending the rest of my senior year.
Jules, Sky's Mum got a job in New York, a very nice job, you see she's a lawyer and she's very good like Harvey specter in Suits good. Now you might wonder why Sky wasn't going with her everyone wants to go to New York at some point but she still needs to move, settle in, get a house all that fun stuff, and not exactly in that order. So while she's partying it up in the great city of New York Sky will be here, in beautiful, hot Chicago surviving. It seems that was what her life was all about these days.....surviving.
On getting downstairs she's intercepted by her aunt "oh Sky, you hungry?"... I made all your favorites and the boys are already setting the table so just grab a seat in the dining room"
With all the words that came after that question, Sky didn't think saying "no...I'm not hungry" would be accepted so she says a simple
"I'm starving, thank you ....but you didn't have to do all this, really" and let Ty lead her into the dining room where most of the noise was coming from.
She could feel her mom's stare at the back of her head so she turn her head a bit and give her a small smile.
'I'll do this for her,' she thought 'I'll smile, I'll eat, I'll even try and hold conversations with sweaty boys if that will make her believe I'm OK cause she won't leave if she doesn't believe it and I don't want to be the one that takes this opportunity away from her'
A sigh leaves her as she thinks of how much of a toll faking this is going to be
Today was going to be mentally and emotionally draining...
