Chapter 26 - the System’s Peculiar Gifts

After sly was fed, he was brought back to his crib at the nursery.

The nursery was quiet except for the soft rustling of the prince's blanket as he shifted in his crib. The golden light from the enchanted sconces bathed the room in warmth, casting long shadows across the walls. he laid in the crib as he checks his system for another login. He had spent the past week receiving a constant stream of "gifts" from the System, and none of them were anything he wanted.

after recieving the dao pupils, his luck has hit rock bottom

His tiny fists waved in the air, pushing against the soft diaper that had mysteriously appeared on him earlier. "This is ridiculous," he thought, his frustration reaching a boiling point. "What is all this crap?"

SYSTEM LOGIN COMPLETE. DAILY REWARD DELIVERED.

A shimmering, translucent notification appeared in the air before him, and despite his best efforts, the prince found himself mesmerized by the glowing text. He still didn't quite understand it all. It was as if a strange part of his mind was connected to this… "System." It felt like some kind of game interface.

Reward Claimed: 7-Pack Ultra-Soft Golden-Thread Diapers.

Cumulative Login Streak Bonus: Soothing Crystal Pacifier.

The prince blinked in disbelief. "Diapers again?" His voice, still the soft, gurgling sounds of an infant, carried an unmistakable annoyance. "Really?"

He reached out with his chubby hands, trying to push away the stack of diapers that appeared at the edge of his crib. But no matter how hard he pushed, they just… stayed there. They weren't even the stylish golden-threaded ones he had hoped for—just plain, regular diapers. The absurdity of it all hit him in waves.

"Is this some kind of joke?" he thought, scowling. "I don't even know what's going on. Who would give a baby diapers as a reward? I'm… I was… I was something else! This doesn't make sense!" he contemplated as the diapers vanished.

He blinked at the pacifier that appeared shortly afterward. It looked fancy enough, glowing softly as though it held some hidden power. But it was still a pacifier

The prince was starting to wonder if this System had a twisted sense of humor.

His gaze flicked to the pacifier. For a brief moment, curiosity warred with his pride. What if it had some hidden enchantment? After all, he is in a magical world. Tentatively, he reached out with a chubby hand, popped the pacifier in his mouth, and sucked once.

A soothing sensation flowed through him—like a lullaby sung by an ancient dragon.

He spat it out with a huff. "I'm not some cranky baby who needs coddling!"

System Notification:

All rewards are optimized for user satisfaction and development.

"Optimized?!" The prince's tiny hands balled into fists, but his words remained a whiny, infantile hum. "What the hell is going on? Where are the swords? Where are the powers? I should be getting weapons! Spells!

A gun would be comforting! Not—this—this baby stuff!"

The notifications didn't stop. They just kept coming, one after another, each more insulting than the last.

Skill Progression Update:

Golden Aura of Adoration (Passive): Increases the chance of being adored by caretakers. Parents' favorability +200%. Elder dragons are 15% more likely to visit for cuddle sessions.

"What is this?" the prince thought, exasperated. "I don't need to be adored. I need strength! and power! And.... And" sigh

His golden eyes flicked over to the corner of the crib, where his inventory had conveniently popped up. It was filled with an array of pointless baby accessories: more diapers, more pacifiers, plush toys shaped like baby dragons. Each item mocked him.

Inventory:

47x Enchanted Diapers 14x Soothing Pacifiers 1x Golden-Thread Swaddle (Legendary Quality)

His frustration mounted. "Enchanted diapers? Legendary swaddle?"

The thought of it—the feeling of being trapped in this ridiculous cycle of baby "rewards"—was enough to make him want to scream. Unfortunately, he was still a baby. His tiny voice only let out a low wail, but the frustration burned in his chest. being a baby sucked, no freedom, limited mobility and an uncontrollable body.

With a small grunt, the prince tried again to summon the interface. There had to be more to this system than just baby stuff. He could feel it. He was sure of it.

"System!"

There was a brief, uncomfortable pause. His mind buzzed, the sensation of something waiting in the air. And then, a reply came, but it only fueled his anger.

System Notification:

Request denied. Rewards are calibrated to user's current development stage.

He let out another small, frustrated wail, shaking his tiny fists in the air as he stared at the glowing message. "Current development stage?" he thought, grinding his teeth. "What stage? What kind of joke is this? I was—I mean, I should be someone capable of ruling! Not… stuck in a crib with pacifiers and diapers!"

But even as he fumed, the System's message felt like an impenetrable wall he couldn't break through. His fists clenched around the pacifier that had appeared in front of him again, and he tossed it aside in disgust. The golden glow around it faded as it hit the floor.

The prince let out a long, frustrated sigh. Why was he stuck here, in a body so helpless and small? And worse—why did the System seem to think he needed this?

Outside, in the royal corridors, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed faintly. Daenerys, his mother, smiled warmly as she approached the nursery door, unaware of the storm of frustration brewing inside her son's crib. She opened the door gently, her eyes lighting up at the sight of her son.

"Well, look at you, my little prince," she cooed softly, her voice laced with affection.

The prince turned his head toward her, glaring silently. His tiny body wasn't yet capable of expressing the full extent of his irritation, but the look on his face said it all. The little baby wasn't having it.

Daenerys chuckled, blissfully unaware of the full weight of his existential turmoil. "Aww, you're still trying to figure out the pacifier, aren't you?"

The prince stared at her, his golden eyes narrowed with defiance. If he could, he would've rolled his eyes. Instead, he just settled back against his plush blanket, sulking.

As Daenerys bent down to pick him up, she unknowingly cued the next notification from the System:

Skill Progression Update:

Baby Bonding (Passive): Affinity with parental figures increased. +10% effectiveness on all future rewards.

The prince, of course, didn't care. The last thing he needed was more coddling.

As Daenerys lifted him into her arms, the prince's mind continued to churn with frustration.
