"Enjoy yourselves."
Saying so, she headed towards a corner in the ballroom and made herself comfortable on a seat. She picked a spot that was close to the ducal family, but no one objected to her seat there.
Zuri was sitting beside her, her eyes containing a mix of worry and awe, as she carefully surveyed the surrounding people.
"If anyone looks at me especially hatefully, tell me," Savine said to her to keep her busy with something, and opened a book.
Lucius walked over to her with hurried steps and hissed angrily.
"You said you wouldn't target my family?"
"I did. But I added I would fight back if I'm hit," Savine said.
"Did I ever hit you? Why do you have to bring me into Sylvester's mess, then?"
Savine raised her head, surprised that Lucius was willing to push Sylvester down so he could rise up. But when she saw his angry face and hateful eyes, she realized he just wanted to find faults with her.
