Before the purge, Murkato had tried to search for Savine's weaknesses but her search turned out to be fruitless. She had her family, but everyone knew how little she cared for them. Murkato didn't even want to bother abducting them, so she quickly forgot about Lihar.
He smiled wryly at that. "Only technically," he said.
Sounded complicated, so Murkato didn't want to continue asking. Besides, there other more imminent questions.
"Why did you… abduct me?" she asked.
"It's very dangerous in the city right now," Lihar said. "The Magi lost a lot of Vasas to the rogue mages and are searching for anyone who might be involved. As you're a foreign mage, I fear you wouldn't be left alone either. Since you're a familiar face, I decided to give you a hand."
