The city of Fareria was built around an oasis in the middle of a great forest, however, it used to be a desert a long time ago, the history of the Binneniel Empire has it that the land was once a desert and the oasis was the first city to be built by the founding Emperor. The capital was truly a state-of-the-art trade centre. Its grace is matched by the backdrop of clear blue skies which have helped shape the city into what it is today.
The climate these skies brought was of great importance, but they were also influential when it came to architectural designs as the vast majority of buildings were designed to take full advantage of the climate, as more daring elements can be created when you don't have to worry about strong winds.
The skyline is littered with towering buildings. Parks and gardens are flourishing in Fareria and it has attracted a lot of attention. Many new cultures have left their mark not just on the city's development, but also on the city's identity. What historically was a city of the plain, ordinary people has grown into a new culture of variety and it's this that unites the millions of people in this city to this day.
It's this multicultural identity that has truly left its mark. Hundreds of cafés, bistros and food carts offer a plethora of culinary choices and those who feel hungry for something else can enjoy musical activities, sightseeing, libraries or one of the many other recreational venues.
I settled into a guest house as soon as I arrived which was on another level compared to the Inn I stayed at in Trehan Town, wait that's an understatement, the Inn is just like a worn-out motel while the guest house was like a five-star hotel. And today I was getting ready to enter the imperial palace.
I looked at the mirror and admired myself, my very short-sleeved, silky jacket covers me to just below my knees and is tightly tied with string at the centre. The sleeves of this jacket are narrow and reach down to well above my wrists, they're decorated with several thread linings at the sleeve ends.
The jacket has a deep, rectangular neckline which reveals part of the rather simple white shirt worn below it and is worn with a large cloth belt, which is held together by a simple knot. The cloth belt is entirely decorative and a way to show off.
My pants were simple and a little wide and reach down to my leathered boots.
Gently I walked, escorted by the knights and unto the chariot that came from the Palace. The Palace gate was the farthest they could reach since I would be living in the palace.
"Young master of the Maxnor duchy, you can only be allowed to live in the imperial palace with two knights, the rest will stay in the capital and will be fended for by the imperial family." The imperial clerk said as we stopped at the large metal door of the palace.
I got down from the chariot and looked at all of them, by the way, they were looking I could tell who wanted me to take them and those that didn't want to go with me and one of them was Zephyrus, he looked away and blended in, of course, Denethor and Gustav looked at me with so many expectations.
Denethor I am taking because of his talents that are yet to bloom because of his personality, Gustav eww...
"Knight Denethor and Knight Zephyrus." Not only him was shocked, but even Gustav was also shocked, I touched Gustav's shoulder which was easier as he was bowing on his knee.
"I'm not taking you inside because I need you to take care of things outside here for me, I sent that guy from before some errands and I'd like to occasionally request your help from the outside." It was meant to restrict his complaints but it was no lie.
"I also need you to keep the rest in order," I said to him, tapping his shoulder and taking my hands off it.
They all bowed as I entered the chariot and the two I picked mounted their horses, Zephyrus continued to find it hard to wipe away his surprised face of his even as we proceeded into the palace and finally stopped at the park where other chariots were parked.
the entire grounds were tiled from the point of entry of the gate to the point we parked at. The clerk got down first and bowed slightly with one hand behind and one on his chest. I gently came down and looked around.
Ten wide, circular towers dominate the skyline of this massive palace and are connected by towering, heavy walls made of light brown stone.
Crude windows are scattered thinly around the walls in fairly symmetrical patterns, along with overhanging crenelations for archers and artillery.
The moderate gate with colossal metallic doors was connected to the inside with a regular bridge and strong defence guards and was the only way in at least without taking down the walls.
Statues of emperors were lined up in the main compound of the palace which was wide, it was wider than the regular compound, I mean it was wide enough to accommodate thirteen statues and not look right. The statues seemed to be serving as reminders of the past.
"This will be your quarters" The clerk said as we reached a tall building.
"How many of us?"
"Only one of you young Lord."
My mouth fell as I looked up, the quarter which was meant for only was as big as our main building back at the duchy, and there were even far bigger and taller buildings we were surrounded by.
I looked towards the crew of the male and female workers, in front of them stood a man who looked very young, probably my age, I mean 27 not 13. He had no beards, no glasses nor monocle, and neat green hair. He was donned in a tailed suit and stood politely as he neared me.
"My name is Casteveron Farnsen, I'm your butler and house manager." He said his voice was calm and sweet, he looked like the kind that hated stress, which was very good for me too.
"Nice to meet you Casta..."
"Casteveron."
"Yea, Caste, that's what I said, let's just call you Caste," I replied his correction of my mistake of calling his name, with a smile.
'Why do I get a feeling this will be the start of trouble for me?' He thought to himself as he continued to keep a very sweet expression in front of me.
"Feel free to move around, though there are many that will question your identity and some might cause some issues so it's best to move around with your knights and keep away from trouble. The Imperial palace is resident to all the Princes and
Princesses, and you will have breakfast with all of them tomorrow morning." The clerk concluded and bowed. "I'll then take my leave." He said and turned around.
While I turned towards the grand entrance to my mansion, "Kindly show me to my room please." I said to the butler.
