Chapter 43 - Cover Blowers

"I have been hired by the young Lord Gilland to bring you back" I said to him before he went ahead to say nonsense out of his wild guesses. Because even though many from the duchy had not seen it in action, they knew about the incident and it would be easy for the close ones to guess correctly that I was the one.

The assassins' branch manager bowed once again, I returned the courtesy and left, followed by Knight Den and Challan whom I had no idea how long he has been here. His gaze towards me irritated me as he looked like someone that could kiss me at any moment. No offence, but I'm not gay... I might not have been able to enter one back on earth but I'm a big fan of puxxy, and I don't plan on staying a virgin in this world too, so let's just wait till we are legal. Oh and I don't mean fifteen, because the legal age of maturity in this world is fifteen, I mean eighteen, it is hard for me to take away the mentality of 'rated 18'.

We left peacefully and made our way back into the forest, barely far into it we began to see two figures that approached us from beyond. Denethor immediately drew out his sword.

'Tsk, would you look at him...'

"Sheathe your sword moron!"

They reached in front of us and immediately bowed to their knees. I never knew these bastards were going to recognize me.

"We deserve death!! Please punish us, young lord!!" They all shouted with Knight Gustav being their lead vocalist.

'I knew it! I suspected since seeing the golden armour, that must be the golden armour that attached itself to the young lord!'

Knight Denethor immediately fell to his knees.

"Forgive me for not being able to recognize you, young lord."

I rubbed my face as the golden armour revealed it, 'These fools, not in front of the druid.'

His lower lip fell and he was having a hard time picking it. 'The kid is... I don't understand this... what's going on...' His head was in turmoil because he was trying to make sense of everything.

"I didn't expect you guys to find me this quick? I even expected you were going to contact the duchy and get reinforcement or something, did I underestimate you guys...?"

'...even the way he's being addressed by his Knights, just how old is he...?' Challan wouldn't stop looking in awe as I handle the situation with my knights.

"Forgive us, young Lord, we thought of the possibility that you intentionally got kidnapped." Knight Gustav said.

"Where are the rest?" I asked, being curious as to why there were only two of them.

"We split up to secretly search for you." Knight Gustav responded again.

"Then how did you even find me?"

"While we were searching Knight Zephyrus caught wind of a figure flying through the sky and we decided to trace it." He replied again.

"Huh, how did you pass the dark fog..."

"It was gone by the time arrived." He responded again, Knight Zephyrus was silent beside him. There was something that continued to make me glance at him on his knee. I couldn't help but continue to feel like he was the mastermind, but more... there was something he was hiding...

"Let's regroup, we must have left this town before the knights arrive, by now they would have discovered I am not at the capital."

"Yes sir!" All three of them replied loud and clear. Challan was still dazzled or was being continuously dazzled by what was unveiled before him. But I had decided at that point to use him as my information broker and errand boy as I'll need a lot handled in secret in circumstances where I won't be able to move.

I touched his shoulder, which was a little bit stressful and didn't turn out the way I imagined it. "Let's get along from now," I said to him, putting down my hand.

"Su... sure..." He stuttered as he replied with a bow.

We all returned to the Inn together

"..." He looked at me not sure how to respond to what he just heard.

"So let me get this straight, you want me to provide you with an expensive chariot, you also want me to find out the person that hired the shadow assassins to kill you."

"Yep, quite simple right," I replied to him with a soft chuckle.

"I think I'm now stupid, I'm sitting here and listening to a child. These ridiculous tasks."

"Uh uh, humans are so quick to forget, did you forget you just saw this so-called child overpower a whole gang and plunge into the heart of notorious assassins?"

He looked at me, covering the lower part of his face with his hand, looking at me while in deep thoughts.

'He's right, it's impossible for a child to be an archmage, however, that level of magic if he's an archmage at this age it means that what he would grow to be, the entire world of Ceria has never seen, in that case, wouldn't it be close to having him as a friend...'

He sighed and removed his hand, "Those tasks are quite big, especially tracing the shadow assassins and finding out who commissioned them. Give me some hours for the chariot, I have to take permission for the amount I'll be spending."

"Don't worry, I will return it," I said to him with a smile, my problems were getting solved. "Don't worry, I won't be giving you just three slots, I'll be keeping you as my person."

"Pardon?..." '...this guy, what those a child know about keeping a person.'

I folded my hand and smiled at the poor Challan who looked at me not knowing exactly how to feel or reply. He had no idea how much I intend to use him, as at now he didn't.

The next day Challan reached the Inn I was staying at with the chariot, I was quite surprised at the speed of his execution of the task, he also informed me he started with the investigation of who might have commissioned the shadow assassins and why.

By the end of the day we arrived at the capital, it was faster than usual because I didn't want father to get involved in any way, a lot of burdens were placed on the horse. From now on I plan to take care of my own business.
