Dàinn's POV:
"AH, SHIT! THAT HURT" I yelled at the stranger who had pushed me.
"Bro stop being dramatic, you landed perfectly on your mattress what more do you want, ha? Why would you drink when you can't handle it!!" I heard our youngest complain
Oh, so he pushed me!!
"Heyy! Why did you push me!? I'm elder than you!!!" I started, to which he simply rolled his eyes and carried my little tiger to his bed.
"Dáinn, sleep, we have college tomorrow" Keanu said walking towards the bathroom.
I raised them wrong! I should have been more strict towards them. I thought to myself and mentally noted to have a talk with them later about it.
Aaahh! My head hurts.
I lay down on the bed and tossed here and there for a better position to sleep. It seemed like my body was numb but my mind was still wide awake. I had several thoughts running in my mind but everything at the moment seemed blurry to me. I couldn't really put a finger on what I was actually thinking.
I looked up towards the ceiling and followed the patterns drawn on it with my index finger. I followed the paths till I came to a halt at the moon that was drawn as the brightest among everything else, painted in silver and white.
When we 4 had decided to move into a new mansion with our pack, Marcel was the happiest. He had insisted on decorating the walls and ceilings of the place himself. He had a thing for arts.
While Keanu took care of the new furniture, I was assigned to arrange and organize everything and look after the packs' safety. Favian still hadn't joined us because of paperwork back home. I felt bad for leaving him there alone but it was surely for the best.
Not being blood-related but staying together since childhood had made our bond really strong. We four were literally brothers from another mother. From habits to likes and dislikes, we knew everything about each other.
Moving to a different city was extremely hectic but along with these little ones it became easier. Our neighbourhood was peaceful too except the ones living right across us. They usually had parties all night and played loud music, disturbing the peace of everyone around. Not to mention their taste in music was trash.
By far everything seemed to be moving smoothly. Life in this new hometown was definitely different from what we were used to. Our shifting was done within a month and every single one of us was safe and sound.
After the very first sudden attack by roughs at our pack we were all startled. In spite of having amends with them, they had attacked us in the middle of the night. Luckily, no one was killed but some of the pack members who guarded the border were severely injured.
Since that incident, many other smaller packs have been attacking our pack for no particular reason. We had meetings as well as contracts signed but still, the attacks continued making us lose the lives of some very precious members.
As the soon-to-be-elected King Alpha, my responsibilities had taken a toll on me. Father was sick and bedridden which made our situation even weak in the eyes of our attackers. As our Alpha himself was not capable of taking part in the fighting, our pack started losing hope.
Within a week Father passed away leaving us all miserable. Situations got even worse on our side. With the loss of our King Alpha, the pack was shattered or so we thought. But the moon Goddess had other plans which we were unaware of.
"My Lord, will we be able to survive all this?" My subordinates had questioned me a couple of times and every time I would simply nod my head as I myself was not sure about anything at all. I was broken and starting to lose hope. I was angry and hurt. But "I had to stay strong for my pack", was the only thought that kept circulating in my mind.
Our pack was facing a war, the Alpha King had passed, and the next Alpha King that is was still underage which meant my powers were nothing compared to the other Alphas and the people of our pack were scared. Everything happening was so sudden that we barely had time to think or rest. Our minds and bodies were exhausted. All we did was pray desperately and wait for a miracle to take place.
On the 29th of February, the day of the full moon. The day everything for our pack changed. This day had been one of the miracles we had been waiting for, for almost 7 months. The day all our prayers got answered.
I traced the drawings backwards and stopped my index at the little hut that Marcel drew at the start of the path. I stared at the ceiling for a good two minutes then looked at the two younger ones sleeping peacefully on their bed until my eyelids started feeling heavy, and before I knew it, I was already fast asleep.
***
I woke up to sirens ringing near my ears.
"WHAT THE FUCK!!!!" I groaned as I tried to find the source of the loud voice that was almost about to bleed my ears.
"Dáinn stop cursing and get ready, we're already late" Keanu spoke from the other side of the room.
"Dáinn, get up come on!" Marcel spoke so softly that my heart almost melted.
I looked up to see innocent eyes staring right back at me and a very annoyed bunny ready to kill. I rolled over the sheets, got out of my comfort zone and as quickly as possible freshened up for college. My head hurt like hell and everything about the day was gloomy. If it wasn't for these two innocent monsters I would have been sleeping right now. I took my painkillers and headed towards the door.
Oh, the comfort I just sacrificed for these brats!!
"Keanu drive!" I tossed the keys towards him and sat down in the backseat.
"Marcel, did you complete your assignment?" I asked looking out the window, the sky was super gloomy. It would probably rain later today.
"Yes, I also copied down one for you!" He replied showing his famous boxy smile and passing me my file of assignments. I went through the assignment once and closed my eyes in hopes of getting a quick nap.
"Oh, by the way, Cassiel called last night to ask about you two, he said he was worried because you both were extremely drunk," Keanu said while looking straight at the road, driving.
Hearing the name Cassiel, I instantly opened my eyes and stared blankly at the back of Keanu's coconut head.
"Uh? Really wha-" I was cut mid-sentence by a very hyper Marcel.
"He's really sweet!! He asked about us. We are not even that close to him though. Don't you both think he is somewhat different from all of us? Or maybe I just look it that way!" He said all that in one go.
"Hahah you really gave him the vibe check quick, didn't you? And yeah, I feel it too, he has a different aura, right? Dáinn?" Keanu asked looking my way through the rare-view mirror.
"Huh? Maybe. Didn't notice much" I simply lied through my teeth. Good thing I was sitting at the back so it was easier to not get noticed.
Truth be told, Cassiel sure was someone that attracted a lot of attention. Not like he wanted to, but things would always somehow put him in the spotlight. Just like how the youngers had said, I too was impressed by Cassiel. He sure was something different. His aura was strong but he surely was not aware of his strength just yet. He was probably not even sure about what he was.
However, he was always involved in some trouble. Not the one to initiate it but always the one to be a part of it. He did have a sass to himself which just made his personality a hundred times better.
He didn't care how people would spread rumours about him or pass him judgemental looks. He would simply walk past them with a smile on his face. For a person who looked so fragile, he sure was strong, both mentally and physically.
The first day I had seen him beaten up to a ball by that ugly bastard, I thought he would pass out any minute. But, to all of our surprise, he cleaned the mess around, straightened his clothes and walked away mumbling the words "Ah he ruined my face again" or something along the lines, as if he just did not get beaten up by a person double his size.
I, too like the others wonder, what exactly are you Cassiel Evert, and why do I feel a connection with you every time you are around?
