I don't recognize her- The way she's glaring at me doesn't seem angry; however. Her eyes met with mine and I found myself unable to look away. After a few seconds, she smirked at me.

"Can't remember, dummy?"

Saki broke eye contact and looked behind me. She sniffed hungrily. The aroma of food filled up the air. Her stomach growled loudly. Embarrassed, she looked at me and muttered,

"Hey, I'm starving. Let's get to know each other better over dinner."

Saki took the gum from her mouth and put it in her pocket. Disgusted, I stared at her in shock as she suddenly grabbed my hand, smiled, and dragged me towards the direction the wonderful scent of food was emanating from.

Saki dragged me into the cafeteria, which was filled with the other squads sitting at their tables. We squeezed past them, making our way to our table, reuniting with my squadmates. Everyone whooped and called out to us, excited to learn more about our new member. As for Saki…

"This food looks sooooooooo good!"

Her eyes widened at the luscious feast that was in front of her and ignored everyone as she eagerly dove into the meal. I followed behind her and grabbed a plate of food too.

"I'm sorry if we didn't have a complete introduction, but welcome to Squad 5! I'm Kuro, the captain of this squad. The person next to me is Mizuki, and I'm sure you probably know Yui by now since you two have been hanging out together."

I looked at Captain and back at Saki. Saki, with a mouth full of food, looked at Captain and said,

"Ish a pleashure-"

She swallowed.

"-to meet you all.'

Mizuki asks the question we were all dying to know as she handed Saki a napkin.

"So, Saki, how do you know of the Egotistics?"

Saki paused with her fork halfway to her mouth. She put her plate down and wiped the food off her face with the napkin Mizuki handed her. Suddenly I felt a chill run down my spine. Saki's aura had instantly become much more intense and serious.

"Don't you remember? Here! Let me give you a hint."

She pulls out a Kunai from her left pocket and twirls it around her fingers. For some reason, the Kunai look oddly familiar. I looked at Mizuki, but she also looked confused why Saki had pulled out a Kunai. Kuro looked confused as well.

"What a nice- gadget?"

Kuro was skeptical. Saki pouted. She let the Kunai fall from her fingers and let out a deep sigh.

"Wow, you guys actually don't know anything…Oh well- I'm too lazy to explain."

She picked up the Kunai and placed it back on the table in front of me. She crossed her arms.

"I've been holding onto it for you ever since that day. You can have it back now!"

Looking closer at the Kunai, I noticed there was a chip on one of the points and a bit of rust had formed, but other than that, it was still in perfect condition. My eyes couldn't look away.

"Welp! All's well that ends well. The food is getting cold so why don't we try and finish then hit the hay."

Saki grabbed her fork and started digging into her meal with renewed vigor. Kuro turned to me, with a confused expression on his face. I merely shrugged. I knew as little as he did.

Kuro let out a long sigh.

"Well- the food is getting cold. Dig in."

"You sound so tense. Loosen up, nerd."

Mizuki's teasing comment seems to fluster Kuro as his face turns to a pout. She smiled at me and winked. Trying to cover his embarrassment, Kuro takes his plate of food and starts eating as well. Mizuki followed along. One by one, everyone started to finish eating and proceeded to leave the cafeteria and head towards the dorms.

⚔⚔⚔⚔⚔⚔⚔

Our squad finished up as well and headed to our dorm. It was Saki's first time, so we showed her around our little dorm and showed her where she will be sleeping tonight. Then, exhausted, I went back to my room to get some rest.

I ended up laying on my bunk, staring at the bottom of the top bunk, thinking about who she was. I have no memory of her whatsoever, yet she knows me. Maybe in time I'll remember who she is. Only time shall tell. I heard thumping noises outside the dorm. Probably from other members returning after completing their bounty quest. I slowly drifted off to sleep, bewildered at the fact I had a new squadmate who knew me, but I could not reciprocate the feeling. I guess it must be fate. My eyelids grew heavy with exhaustion and slowly closed.
