Chapter 3 - System?

{Congratulations, you have died}

"Who's there?" Ashtyn raised his arms to his head, as he tried to alleviate the terrible migraine he was suffering from.

{I'm your personal, everyday, magic store system. I am currently nameless if you want to give me a name. I personally like Alcatraz the Impenetrable, or Crawl the Warrior King.}

"Who is Crawl the Warrior king? Where are you? And what do you mean system?" As Ashtyn slowly stood up, he finally took the time to observe his surroundings.

It was currently an extremely dark night; below his feet was a deep red shade of dirt. As he looked around in one direction he saw a shear mountain face towering high into the clouds. In the opposite direction he could vaguely make out a mountain face creating a very wide ravine like shape.

He tried remembering how he got here, but no matter how hard he tried nothing made sense. He should be in the hospital. "Now that I think about it, what happened to my cough? Did they cure me? But, they said it wasn't possible, I had already been at the hospital for over a month; why wait to cure me till now?" The unanswerable questions kept piling up in his mind.

Finally he recalled the first thing he heard. 'Congratulations you are dead'. Thinking back he didn't just hear it, there were lines of text floating in his vision as he heard the voice. 'I think I understand' Ashtyn inwardly thought.

{Finally}

"I'm in heaven,"

{Or not}

As he continued looking around trying to figure out what was going on, Ashtyn heard loud clanging sounds coming from behind a nearby hill. He called out "Hello, shouldn't you come out to receive me? Where are the large pearly gates and the white fluffy clouds? Speaking of which, why's it so dark here"

After waiting and receiving no response he quickly made his way up the hill. As he approached the top he heard a loud crunch. Upon looking down he spotted a weird, brittle white rock, which he chose to ignore. At the top of the hill he finally spotted whom it was that was making the loud clanging noises.

"What the hell?!"

There were no words to describe the state of Ashtyn's current mind. Ahead were large bulky figures larger than his dad, with two large… Tusks, protruding from their mouths. They were currently wielding large swords and axes, which they were currently swinging at… skeletons.

During Ashtyn's time taking vocational classes, a few friends had him read some novels. This lead him to the conclusion that the large creatures in front of him were Orcs.

"So I'm in hell" He pinched his arm as hard as he could, confirming his alert state.

SIGH

{Welcome to your new world, Orilosnet. The planet of Origin}

"Where are you? Is my mental state so poor, I'm already hearing voices?"

{SIGH, I… Am… Your… Personal… System}

"Why do you sound so alive?"

{I could ask the same of you? :P}

"I think my headache is getting worse," Ashtyn slowly walked away from the fight as he did his best not to alert these creatures. As he made his way down the hill he used the little knowledge he gained from reading novels, to try to understand his current situation.

{Did you not understand my joke?}

{You know… cause you're dead?}

{Can you not here me?}

… 'If I continue to ignore it maybe it'll go away'

{That's a relief I'm glad you can hear me,}

!!!

{You know I can read your mind, right?}

'FUCK YOU,' Ashtyn said inwardly as he began to smirk.

{…}

A few hours passed, as Ashtyn continued walking in darkness. He had a lot of time to reflect on what he had seen; for instance, the white rock he stepped on was likely a bone of some sort. And this system thing was likely an overpowered cheat, which would allow him to exceed in this world.

Thinking back to the few novels he read, upon recommendation from a few friends, he couldn't help but think of the common plot of a protagonist getting a system that gives him some over powered ability.

'But, why does mine seem so bad,'

{HMPH}

After walking for a while, in silence, Ashtyn finally spotted signs of civilization. Ahead of him was a large black wall; you might expect to see around a castle.

Torches were set around the perimeter, burning in a melancholy blue glow. In the center of the wall was a large open gate, with no guards visibly anywhere. On both sides of the gate were short, thick towers slightly taller than the wall itself. Further down the wall were many similar shaped towers, overlooking the perimeter of the city?

Ashtyn placed his hand on his empty stomach as he took a deep whiff of the tantalizing smells leaving the gates. He could smell Pork. Ashtyn took a deep breath as he steadied his rapidly beating heart and began his approach towards the entrance. Inwardly he began praying, 'Please no Orcs, Please no Orcs, Please no Orcs...'

He slowly crept closer and closer to the wall, as the strong scent of pork continued to tempt him with its alluring scent. He started hearing the sounds of people laughing, slightly soothing his restless heart. Finally, he reached the large gate fully showing off its grandiose architecture. As he passed through the gate and peered inside towards the city, he couldn't help but Freeze.

"OH SHIT!"
