Chapter 4 - Stubborn Women

Lunchtime drew close, so I exited the alley near the convenience store and headed towards a fast-food restaurant. There's nothing like fried chicken with barbecue sauce to satisfy my hunger.

Following lunch, I decided to do a bit of sightseeing. While the memories I inherited from the previous body were helpful, they were often fragmented. However, given the significant changes in my appearance, I wasn't concerned about anyone recognizing me, and I doubted anyone would try to seek me out.

It was unfortunate that, unlike the first kid I encountered, there weren't any easy targets around. I had scheduled a training session with Corey for two days from now, and changing it at this point would raise suspicions.

"Excuse me! Would you like to sign a petition to raise awareness about drugged babies? Every year, thousands of irresponsible mothers use drugs during their pregnancy, which turns their babies into drug addicts." As I was minding my own business, a woman in her mid-to-early twenties approached me and asked if I'd like to sign a petition to raise awareness about babies exposed to drugs during pregnancy. She claimed that thousands of irresponsible mothers used drugs while pregnant, making their babies addicts.

I contemplated my choices. Should I go with the first option and simply refuse to sign the papers, telling the girl to leave me alone? Or should I take the second option and be a bigger asshole by throwing away the papers she's asking me to sign?

Considering the influence of the media, I wouldn't be surprised if my actions made headlines someday. It didn't bother me to be seen as a troublemaker in the future as long as I had the power to protect myself.

"Sorry, but fuck off."

I had politely told the woman to fuck off. The woman couldn't believe what I had said and stared at me in shock.

"Is there nothing you can do? Even if you don't care, signing this would help even if you don't care." Instead of finding someone else, I didn't know why this person would be so stubborn.

"Get off me. Clingy women are unsightly."

I didn't expect my comment to yield more points, and I wasn't shocked since my remark insulted her gender. However, the woman I had offended didn't back down. Instead, she seemed fueled by a growing determination, indicating she had a plan in store.

I averted my gaze and quickened my pace, hoping to avoid any further confrontation with her. I sensed that trouble was brewing, but I hadn't anticipated provoking such intense animosity from a woman. Regret began to settle in as she began chasing after me.

"Fuck..." The woman I insulted was faster than me in terms of running. Even if I ran, she would catch me sooner or later. Realizing that escaping from the woman was futile as she quickly closed the distance between us, I reluctantly slowed my pace. I knew I had no choice but to confront the situation head-on.

"What do you want?" I muttered under my breath, my annoyance evident in my voice.

"You could have asked anyone else to sign your stupid papers."

"Apologize." She demanded, her voice firm. Despite my provocation, she seemed determined to make me apologize for my earlier words.

"For what?" I provoked her. Since she wants to cause me some trouble, it's only fair that I do the same.

"Apologize for calling me unsightly." She repeated herself, her eyes locked on mine, awaiting my response.

"Did I? I only said clingy women are unsightly. Unless you thought of yourself as a clingy woman... I pity you..." I replied with a tone of disappointment.

Even if the girl was about to explode, there was no way she would hit me in public. I had humiliated her in public, but it was a shame that no one nearby cared.

"You..." Before she could grab me by the collar, someone else had intervened.

"Stop your lover's quarrel. You two are attracting unnecessary attention." The person in a flashy red outfit, wearing a motorcycle helmet, spoke in a reprimanding tone.

I noticed the woman getting increasingly agitated as the person in the red outfit jokingly referred to us as lovers.

"Thanks for stepping in. This woman has been tailing me persistently and won't let me be. She's attempting to coerce me into signing some dubious document."

The person then removed the helmet, revealing a man with blond hair. If I had known better, I would have thought he was an idol based on his appearance.

"Is what he says true?" The blonde directed a stern gaze at the woman, confirming the accuracy of my statement.

"He's lying..." Her words lacked conviction, and it was clear she wasn't convincing anyone.

With the paper in her hands and her aggressive pursuit, I had managed to frame the girl successfully.

"I just wanted him to sign a petition..." She spoke shakily, and it seemed like she was on the verge of tears.

"And what petition are you working on?" The man in red inquired.

"We want to raise awareness and support for babies who have been exposed to drugs during pregnancy," she replied, her voice quivering.

The man examined the petition paper, ensuring it was for a legitimate cause. He then turned to me, and I explained.

"She did tell me what it was for, but when she asked me for my contact information and money, that's when I started to get suspicious. Who asks for thousands of dollars for a petition?" I said it with a tone of disbelief, making the man beside me more inclined to believe my version of the story.

"That's a lie!" The girl finally burst into anger, unable to tolerate my deception.

"Why would I lie in a situation where I wanted to avoid being tricked?" I responded with a serious tone, showing no remorse for her outburst.

"Stop. Just separate and go your separate ways. Look, everyone is watching, and there is no need to cause a disturbance."

Who says that attractive guys can't be helpful? Thanks to him, I avoided getting into more trouble with the woman. Ultimately, we both agreed to part ways and continue on our respective paths.
