My real family. Ash thought to herself. Breathing hard in and out. She laid her head on the cold glass of the window she was sitting next to, sobbing. She had always wondered who her family was, and why they had let her go. Now she was here with them after they pretty much kidnapped her from her other family. And she had a twin sister. It was so much to take in. She didn't know what to do. She didn't know what to think her mind was on overdrive. Ash lost track of how long she was sitting there before she heard a set of familiar steps. Her sobbing was slowing down and honestly, she was just tired now.
"Ash?" Misty's voice said quietly, pulling open the curtain she was hiding behind and sitting next to her, laying a hand on her knee. "I know it is all a lot, but we really are happy you are here. We all missed you so much. You were only a few months old when everything happened." Misty said looking at her. Her heart broke looking at Ash.
"I...I..." Ash stammered. Taking in a deep breath and trying to continue. "It is just so much. I want to know why." She finished.
"Let's go talk to father, he knows more about that night than I do," Misty said standing up, holding her hand out for Ash. She hoped the girl would trust her enough. A few moments pass and Ash takes her hand. Misty beamed. The two girls walked back to the dining hall, opening the doors to find the younger kids gone and only Jeremy and Lily sat at the table. Smiles on their face seeing the two girls hand in hand.
"I have questions," Ash said sitting back at the table.
"I would be surprised if you didn't." Jeremey said, laughing a little. He seemed friendly enough but she could also tell there was a sternness in his demeanor, She guessed he need that to be a good alpha of this pack.
"What happened? Why did you give me up?" Ash asked looking sad. He just looked at her in shock.
"We never gave you up!" He said with a growl. "Dont you think for one moment that we gave you up, It was a really stormy night, we were having a ball. The maid had just finished putting you and Misty down for the night. We never got back to check on the two of you until late that night, by that time you were gone." He said with a sigh. She could tell it pained him to think of that night. "We never stopped looking for you. That night we had everyone in the pack looking for you. But with the storm your scent it was just gone." He finished. Ash just looked at him, she wanted to believe him she really did. It has been so long, it was hard to just trust them fully.
"What made you think it was ok to take me from the family who took me in?" Ash asked looking at him. She loved her other family, she didn't think they stole her. They always said she was found on the boundary line.
"You are our daughter." Lily said quietly. "We didnt think just acted. Maybe we did go about it the wrong way, but we wanted you back." She said looking away. Lily looked like she was ready to cry. It made Ash heart hurt, looking at the woman. She could tell she cared deeply for the daughter she lost. Ash put her head down trying to process everything. A few stray tears pouring from her eyes.
"I met my mate. I never even got to know his name." She said quietly. "You took me from him also." Ash stated. She really did not know what made her more mad, the fact they kidnapped her, or the fact she missed out on knowing her mate finally. When she finally looked up at her family, they were all smiling, what did they know. Ash decided she didn't want to know. With a yawn she stood up. "I am tired, I am going to bed." She muttered. Walking out of the hall, She heard misty following her.
"Want help getting back to you room?" She asked.
"Sure." Ash said, looking at the other girl. Really looking at her. She could now see the similarities between them, both the same height, incredibly pale. The same build, the only real difference was the hair and eye colour. "We really are twins." She gasped, no wonder she seemed so familiar.
"We are." Misty said, taking her hand. "I know it is a lot to take in, but I hope in time we can get to know each other the way sisters do." Misty said with a smile.
"I would like that." Ash said as they neared her room. She always wanted a sister, so she hoped everything would work out for her in the end. "Thanks for walking me back here." She said laying her hand on the door knob.
"It was nothing, if you need anything my room is the next door down." Misty said " Don't hesitate to come and wake me up." Misty looked at the girl one more time and walked down to her room, as Ash walked into hers.
She went into the bathroom and changing into some black silky pajamas, taking off the small bit of make up, brushing her hair out and pulling it up into a ponytail. She climbed into her huge bed, not believing how comfortable it was, it was like a cloud, the only thing she was missing was a good book. It had been a while since she picked up a book, she would have to see tomorrow if they had a library to check out. With that she closed her eyes, not before smelling something she did not think she would ever smell again, cut grass and thunderstorms. Ash fell into a deep sleep.
