Ash Marsdon had just turned 21, this may not be a big deal to most but to her it was bad. She was the only 21 year old she knew that still never had their mate. Normally when you turn 16 you get your wolf, she had her wolf thankfully. Her wolf was a beautiful white wolf named Gryffin. For the next 4 years after finding your wolf you will also find your mate, but 20 came and went and still no mate for Ash. She was starting to get so discouraged. She wondered if it was because of her upbringing. Well she had a great childhood but she was adopted by the Alpha and Luna of the Pine River Pack. She couldn't help but wonder if there was something wrong with her from her old pack. Why would they just give her up like that.
"Wake up sleepy head" Seth her younger brother came pounding on her door. "Its time to go for training"
Ash rolled her eyes, her younger bother was 19 full of energy. His love for training bugged her to no end. It was only 6 am in the morning, she never went to bed until 4, after running all night with Gryffin. Seth was to be the packs next Alpha, and he was so excited.
"I will be out in a little bit." She grumbled. Pulling herself out of bed, and pulling on some jogging pants and a loose tank top. She knew she would be running. Standing in front of a mirror she pulled her long white hair into a high pony tail. Her bright sea foam green eyes looking back at her, she was the only one she knew that had that coloured eyes and it annoyed her so much. She looked much different from everyone in her pack. Her whole pack had tan skin, brown or hazel eyes. Where her Skin was a white as snow. She stood out like a sore thumb. A pounding on her door brought her out of her thoughts
"Come on Ash." Her brother whined from the other side of the door. "We are going to be late."
Oh how she wished he would just go on without her. Ash grabbed a long black hoodie and opened the door almost getting hit in the face by her brother who was about to bang on the door once again.
"Any need Seth" She growled. He just laughed.
With that they both took off out of the pack house and raced down to the training area, which was basically a huge field surrounded by trees. There was already people there waiting on them to start, Rodger the pack beta was the instructor for the day. Ash sighed, he never went easy on them.
"Good morning younglings" Rodger said with a little laugh. Calling them like they were in their pre teen years.
"This morning you are starting off with running the field, so get started." He called out to everyone. We all knew what that meant. Running in groups of two around the parameter of the field. This was something Ash had a love hate relationship with, giving her too much time to think. While they were running she watched as Rodger set up the striking dummies, they normally get set up for the younger wolves to practice on.
"Up the pace, kids" Rodger yelled, as they all pushed even harder. She could hear Seth next to her breathing hard. She understood they had to keep their human forms in shape, but she absolutely loved to run in her wolf form. It was so much more freeing, then this she didn't get as winded. After about half an hour more of running, they finally stopped.
"As much as I would like to keep you in training, we have to get the younger ones out here today." Rodger said dismissing them all to do as they pleased.
Taking her hoodie off, she slowly walked back up to the pack house needing to get a shower. Once she got up to the house Seth not far behind her their father Alpha Drew stopped them.
"Can I have a moment with the two of you" He asked We both nodded, not like they would say no anyways. He lead them into the massive country style kitchen. We all sat at the island in the middle of the kitchen our father looking at us. He looked a little nervous.
"We are holding a ball for all the surrounding packs" He said "A masquerade" he finished.
