Chereads / The Sovereign Mage / Chapter 24 - Cunning Foxes

Chapter 24 - Cunning Foxes

When the men in the cafeteria saw the two beauties going to meet Clifford and his group, they stared at the group jealously. Most of the boys there were second and third year students. The two beautiful girls were second year students, the second and third year boys don't even have any chance of getting the attention of the two beauties but it seemed like Clifford's group had managed to do that so the other boys were envious of Clifford's group.

Clifford's group noticed the girls coming over, they quickly readdressed each other and sat like gentle men.

"Hey prince charming," The girls ignored the rest of the group and greeted Clifford seductively. The rest of the guys felt offended at this, they ignored them like they was nothing. They also started to act begrudgingly.

Clifford noticed this and a smug smile appeared on his face, he knew he was handsome and charming but he didn't expect all this special treatment from the beautiful girls. He was extremely pleased with himself but at the same time, he should not get carried away by all this, the girls might have other intentions, his purpose was already engraved to his mind and nothing could stop him from achieving it.

"Can we have a little walk? The girl with the bun hairstyle proposed to Clifford while she licked the ice cream she was holding.

"It's not a bad thing to have a walk with two beauties." Clifford thought, he enjoyed seeing other boys getting envious of him. But, he could not afford to offend his mates by leaving them for the girls. It would be rude of him to do so.

He was about to say an excuse to reject the proposal when his roommates stood up, they understood the situation. They winked at Clifford, encouraging him to get the two girls, then they left the cafeteria.

Clifford laughed softly, he understood what they meant by their facial expressions and signs but he wasn't planning on doing any of such.

He also left with the two girls amidst the envious gazes of the other boys but he doesn't care, he walked complacently.

"You seemed not to be troubled by the gazes of the envious boys," the tall girl said.

"Why should I be troubled when they can't harm me, huh?" Clifford replied.

"Even as we speak, a lot of boys are targeting you. It's not so easy to grab our attention, we're the famous gorgeous pair of the academy, they are definitely envious of you that you had done that easily. The girl with the bun hairstyle said with a mouthful of ice cream.

"What did I do to grab your attentions?" Clifford asked the two girls. He knew the girls had other motives.

"You're handsome, you're cool, you're charming and you're also powerful. But, are you powerful enough to defeat mages at the upper levels? The tall girl said to Clifford.

Clifford still doesn't understand what the girls meant, he was trying to understand the motives of the girls.

The tall girl moved closer to Clifford, the sweet fragrance emitting from her body wafted into his nostrils, for a moment, he had lewd thoughts on his mind. What happened next surprised Clifford, the tall girl threw herself to Clifford and hugged him tightly, although he was stunned by this, he subconsciously hugged her too. The two released each other after a few seconds, but the small affectionate display from the two was enough for people passing by to see. The boys were enraged and envious at this, especially the boys at upper levels.

Another shocking thing happened that left the people dumbfounded, the girl with the bun hairstyle also threw her arms around Clifford's shoulders, pressing her soft perky boobs at Clifford's chest. Clifford could feel something hard between his thighs, he attempted to break free from the girl but she unexpectedly did another thing, she kissed Clifford on his right cheek.

The boys watching this felt like they were going to explode. If gazes could kill, Clifford would be dead a thousand times.

Clifford finally understood the motives of the girls, they had set him up. They had intentionally put Clifford in trouble, now he would be watched by this envious people, thinking of this gave him headache.

"You girls are foxes," Clifford shook his head.

The two girls smiled at him sarcastically before they left, they had intentionally led him to where the crowd was and set him up. They were truly cunning foxes. They loved creating hot topics in the campus and they had successfully created one, the news of what had happened immediately spread like wildfire, it was all over the students news feed.

Clifford hurriedly left for the hostel. On his way back to the hostel, he saw people glaring at him but he didn't know why. "Maybe they had heard of what happened too." He thought.

When he entered, he saw his roommates with their eyes glued to each of their phone screens, they had seen the hot topic on the news feed.

"What the hell bro, you're such a badass." Benson exclaimed.

"You're truly a badass brother, how did you get them to do that? Leonard asked, wanting to hear the full gist from Clifford.

Theodore noticed a reddish mark with the shape of a lip on the right cheek of Clifford, he bursted into laughter. "Look at that sexy shaped lip paint on your cheek bro."

The others looked at Clifford and found it too, they all bursted into laughter. Clifford immediately felt awkward, no wonder people were glaring at him, they were looking at the lip paint on his cheek. He shook his head and left for the washroom to clean it.

After he had washed it, he talked to his roommates about what had happened, they discussed other things before they slept. Tomorrow, they would attend their first lecture at the academy.

The next day, all of them left for their schools to attend their first lectures. Clifford was pondering on whether to choose the fire element school or shadow element school. After weighing the options, he later went for the shadow element school. He chose the shadow element because it was a rare and special element, it would be a boost for him if he could hone the skills of the element to the fullest. He was already adept in the fire magic so it would be a waste to attend the fire element school. He left for the direction of the shadow element school.

Theodore had left for the Earth element school while Benson and Leonard had both left for the wind element school. It's only the weird Asian that left without informing anybody.

When Clifford got to the shadow element school, he saw a small building, the sign at the top of the building shows that it was where he would attend his shadow element classes. It wasn't even built in the shape of lectures building, it just looked like a regular house. He knocked the door but nobody answered, he tried to open the door but it was already locked from the inside. He knocked again and there was still no answer.

"There's no one inside?" Clifford thought to himself. He was about to knock the door again when the door was opened. Clifford was surprised, there was no one by the door, it seemed like the door opened itself and it doesn't look like an automated door that could open itself. Nevertheless, he entered. He saw fragments of the shadow element around the door and he knew straight away that someone must've manipulated the door with the shadow element.

"That's cool," he thought. Whoever must have done that was adept in shadow magic. He looked around the the room that looked like a living room, he saw someone and he was surprised to see the person there. The person was the weird Asian, he turned out to be a shadow mage after all. He was the only person Clifford met in the room.

"Was he the one that manipulated the door? His shadow element must be crazily strong." Clifford thought to himself.

The weird Asian just sat there on a sofa, Clifford greeted him and he only replied with a slight nod that was barely visible without making eye contact.

"Is there anybody else in the house?" Clifford asked. The weird Asian replied by pointing towards a door that led to another room. Clifford knocked the door, a lazy feminine voice told him to come inside. He entered and he saw a woman lying down on a long sofa, he wondered if this place is where they would be taught lessons on shadow element, probably they'd take them somewhere else. This place doesn't look like a proper academy building at all.

"Thanks goodness," we've got another shadow element mage." The woman said brightly, she was the person in charge of teaching shadow element mages. Although she looked and acted lazy always, she was one of the most strongest teachers at the academy.
