"First rank Basic mage!" Clifford exclaimed excitedly. He has never felt such power.
After breaking through to the first rank of the basic mage, he continued to meditate. He was unable to control his aura which was fluctuating. If anyone was there, they would knew he just had a breakthrough. It would take him a while to get used to being a Basic mage, until then, he would not be able to control his Mana and aura properly.
After about two hours of meditating, he was deeply engrossed in the meditation. Mana from his surroundings began to whirl around him. He saw a crystal, crimson red in colour emitting violent heat waves in his Mana whirlpool. The crystal is of the Fire element which is his First element which he had awakened as a mage apprentice. Another crystal started to form which signals the awakening of a new element.
Just when he was starting to awaken the element of his basic rank, he got interrupted by a knock on the door.
"F*ck! Who the hell is it? I have to start all over again!" Clifford sighed with frustration. He left his room and walked up to the door to see who it was. He opened the door to see a young man with dark spiked hair.
"F*ck! It's John. Clifford just remembered he was supposed to meet John earlier today to apply for a job in the library John worked at. He knew John would surely be pissed at him, but how would he explain what happened.
"Lazy brat! You said you were going to come today, why the f*ck didn't you come? Oh! You're not interested in working anymore? You've always been a lazy brat anyways. John said and pushed Clifford out of the way.
Clifford was half expecting this from John, he was used to being scolded a lot by his friend.
"It's a long story mate." Clifford signed. He didn't know where to start explaining.
"Haha....! Another long story another excuse." John chuckled while dropping his backpack.
He sat down on the sofa and he took out a pie and a bottle of yogurt from the backpack, he took two bites from the pie and started to gobble down the yogurt. After gobbling down a good amount of yogurt, he belched.
"That's disgusting." Clifford said with a frowned look.
"Just shut the...." He stopped halfway with his mouth wide opened. He could now feel the Mana fluctuations and the aura coming from Clifford's body.
"Did you just had a breakthrough to the Basic rank?" He asked bewilderedly.
"Ehhh.... Yes! Clifford answered while rubbing the back of his head.
"Wow mate! How did you do that? What element did you awakened? John asked excitedly.
"I was just about to awaken an element and you f*cking interrupted me. Clifford answered, he was clearly not happy at being interrupted when he was at the crucial stage of awakening an element.
"Shut the hell up, how was I supposed to know you were at such a crucial stage." John said, feeling wronged.
"My meditation efforts of about two hours or more was wasted bro, now I've got to start all over again." Clifford lamented.
"Come on man! You've got no choice. Let's start it again, I'm with you brother." John said with a grin.
"Let's do that somewhere else. Mom will be back soon, I may be interrupted again." Clifford said while he went into his room to grab his backpack.
After he was done grabbing his backpack, he grabbed a bottle of chilled water from the fridge. He consumed half of the water and placed the remaining in his backpack.
John caught a glimpse of the ring on Clifford's finger. "Whoa man! You didn't tell me you were engaged." He grinned at Clifford mockingly.
"It's a spatial tool you fool!" Clifford said.
"A spatial tool! Where the hell did you get it? First, you advanced to the basic rank and now you've got a f*cking spatial tool!" John exclaimed loudly.
"Shut up you fool, it's a long story.
"Now you've got to tell me every bit of how it all happened."
"Just shut the hell up and let's find a quiet place to complete my awakening."
They went to the foot of a hill not far from John's place and found a secluded spot beside a pond. Clifford sat down in front of the pond, crossed his legs and started to meditate while John stood watch.
After about an hour, Mana from the ponds surroundings started to whirl around Clifford. The awakening process has begun, a crystal started to form at the center of his Mana whirlpool. The crystal was emitting a very deadly dark energy that crept out John.
"Damn! Is he awaking the curse element, or maybe the shadow element?" It seemed strange to John because mages rarely awoke the Shadow and Curse elements at the basic rank.
The crystal continued to form for about an hour before it got fully formed. After the Crystal was fully formed, Clifford's body started to emit the aura of a shadow mage. He gathered the Mana in his whirlpool and infused them into the crystal. A mage can only cast spells by infusing and constantly supplying the element crystals with Mana.
After the infusion of Mana into the shadow element crystal, Clifford opened his eyes and casted the first spell of the shadow basic rank.
"Abscond shadow!" He casted the spell silently.
Clifford then vanished into the shadows. It's almost nightfall so it's a very suitable time for a shadow mage to cast spells effectively.
"Shit! Where did he vanished to? John thought to himself as this was starting to creep him out. He then felt a hand grab his shoulder from behind.
"Are you looking for me?"
