Gael's POV
"Gael?" A familiar voice called .
"I'll leave now , sir" the maid said, bowing shortly before she walked away. I turned around to see a smiling Cathy.
I stared at her in surprise. I hope it was a coincidence that we are both here because I ain't going to take it likely with Mom if this was some kind of setup. I mean , I'm old enough to make decisions by myself! I'm super old enough to decide who I go out with and pairing me up with some girl they like is total nonsense! .
"What are you doing here?" I finally ask her ,my voice void of any emotion.
" I came to visit Father, I heard about the attack" she replied ,still putting on her charming smile. I scoffed inwardly. If she thinks those smiles are gonna work on me then she's the real joker !.
" Okay" I shrugged and made to walk away when I felt her palm wrap around my wrist .
"What?" I snapped yanking my hands off immediately. At that moment she looked a bit surprised at my actions but immediately replaced her surprised look with a small frown.
"Why'd you keep doing this to me?" She questioned , looking me straight in the eye.
" I just want to help , I just want to know you Gael but you keep discarding me" she added with a sigh, running her hands over her head. I scoffed.
Doesn't this girl have any *Girl pride* or whatever it was called?.
"I don't need your help Cath , neither do I want to know you , so stay away ! You have a business with my dad and not me , learn to stay on that lane" i warned and walked away immediately.
I seriously do not have the time for chit chats with her. She's badly hoping for a relationship between the both of us but I'm not sorry to burst her bubble that there's never going to be anything.
It's just so sad that she thinks because mom got her back "We" are going to happen.
There was only one girl I loved , but she broke my heart. It's been a while SHE left , though SHE still left some memories I can't seem to forget and I don't think I'm ready to get into any relationship, not even an arranged one , For now.
I got to Father's room and stared at the huge white painted door , deliberating whether to go in or not. If I should go in , Cathy would come in also and they'll end up talking about why we should be in a relationship. I could just turn around and leave_
The door opened and Mom's face came into view . Her face stretched into a small smile on seeing me. I sighed. I could have decided faster.
"I knew someone was there" she smiled, opening the door widely for me to come in.
I didn't return her smile , nor did I say a word. I just walked into the room . Her curly brown hair bounced as she made her way fully into the huge room. Mom is who you would call a "never aging woman " . As many people would say her , Mom had what everyone calls an hourglass figure . She was a little above 5 inches with skin as fresh as a newborn , her brown eyes which shone brightly whenever she smiled , complimented her perfectly curled brown hair that stopped right an inch after her shoulders. She had a not too- pointy nose and her downward-turned lips which never failed to spread into a frown whenever she was displeased .
"Your father and I have been waiting for you " she finally said immediately we got face to face with dad.
" I was busy in the office," I muttered.
"Still at that!_"
"Did you see Cathy on your way here?" Dad asked cutting Mom off.
She obviously looked displeased as she passed him a glare which he didn't acknowledge.
"Gael?" He called when I didn't give him a reply.
"Yes, she'll be up in some seconds" I shrugged leaning on the wall.
Just then , we heard the door open and Cathy walked in. Her eyes darted to me and she stared at me before looking away.
"Father " she called , walking to where dad was standing. She gave him a quick hug and then Mom.
"I'm sorry about what happened," she added, finally turning to face him.
" What has happened has happened, Cath, it's only left to us to do what's best for us" Dad replied with a smug smile and I could bet he was totally up to something.
"Can we leave now?" Mom broke the awkward silence, glancing at her gold wristwatch which was wrapped around her wrist.
"Why does Cathy have to be there?"
"Because she's family! " Mom retorted. I glanced at Cathy to see a victorious smirk dancing at the end of her lips. Mom and dad headed out with Cathy behind them . Just as Cathy made to walk out , I grabbed her hand, holding it tightly.
"If you think because my mom and dad like you , we have a chance , you're fvcking joking! " I growled silently, putting pressure on my grip on her hands . She winced slightly but looked at me with a determined smirk.
"Let's see about that , darling," she said. I stared at her in disgust before releasing her hands.
How can someone be this shameless???
I passed her a hard glare and walked out of the room. I reached for my pocket and took out my phone , heading towards the staircase as I scrolled through my contacts. I stopped at a particular name before dialing it. After some seconds of ringing, the person at the other end picked up the call.
I put on a small smile even though I knew the person at the other end couldn't see me.
"Sir Gael!" The voice exclaimed in excitement.
"Matron Mary" I replied , descending the stairs.
"How's everyone at the Home?" I added .
" We are all good " she replied
" I'm sorry I won't be coming to the Home today , an important issue came up," I pleaded.
" It's okay Sir Gael, we know how busy your schedule is and we all appreciate your concern and Love" she replied.
" I'll come some other time , maybe next week"
" That's no problem"
" Okay, I'm hanging up now , my regards to all the children"
" Yes, have a nice day"
I ended the call and shoved the phone back into my trouser pocket before heading out.
