3rd Person POV
The professor didn't even give a signal to start the duel. He dashed ahead after I provoke him, Feyfey is right what can I expect from a thug. Arthur thought as the professor dashed forward.
As the professor dashed forward, he coated his swords with blue fire. He swing aggressively, and conjuring some ball of fire, in attempt to land a hit on Arthur.
Arthur avoid his attack with minimal moves. He avoided every attack that he launch, that annoyed the professor.
"What's wrong? Is the captain of the DC, only know how to dodge?" Professor Geist said frustratingly.
"Do I even need to do something else, if the esteemed professor can't even land a hit on a first year?" Arthur replied, that annoyed the professor even more.
As the other students witness the duel, they have an awe expression as they watch a boy their age, is avoiding the onslaught of the professor. They also knew that this wasn't a simple duel anymore. They were all worried on what will happen if they didn't stop the duel.
"This isn't a normal duel of a student and professor anymore. The professor is crossing his limits!"
"We need to ask some help."
"Should we call the Director?"
The others murmurs around themselves. When a voice rang from behind.
"Can one of you call the Director? While the two of us will stay to protect the students, incase the barrier break." Feyrith said, as he and Kathyln stand up from their sits.
As they hear Feyrith's command. One of the students quickly rushed out to call the director. Both Feyrith and Kathyln took out their wands, readying themselves to block an attack if ever the barrier break.
Arthur Leywin POV
As I saw one of the students left the classroom. I looked around to see both Kathyln and Feyfey was standing up with their wands in hand.
I avoided the sword that was aimed on my head. I looked at my opponent who had a frustrated expression over his face.
"This is boring". Arthur sighed,
Hearing this angered the professor even more. He swing his swords more aggressively and keep firing some fire ball.
I should end this. Arthur thought as he sighed.
Professor Geist POV
My body suddenly feel heavy, as I dropped to the ground I look up and saw the brat looking at me with a bored expression.
This brat is looking down at me! I thought as I gritted my teeth.
I hold my swords firmly and stand up. My knees buckled from how heavy my surroundings as I tried to stand up. The brat showed a surprised expression before I feel my surroundings feel heavier than earlier.
But I hold in and stand up. I dashed forward after I grow accustomed, and the brat panicked as he saw me arrived in front of him.
I swung my sword and hit the brats shoulder, I didn't land a clean hit because he managed to avoid it.
"AHHHHHHH!"
The brat yelled in pain, As he clung to his shoulder. I grinned as I finally managed to land a hit.
I continue sending barrage of attacks toward the brat. But unlike earlier he couldn't avoid it, and the attacks hit him slowing him down.
I heard the other students shouted asking me to stop. But I didn't listen to them and continue on attacking the brat.
"Professor Geist stop! Your going to kill him!" Turning my head, I saw the princess of the Sapin shouted asking me to stop.
"Its not that I'm trying to kill him. I was just teaching him some lesson to not be cocky. To someone as strong like me." I replied as I grinned. "But if you want me to stop right now. I can do it but you need to do something for me. I know you're smart so you know what I'm talking about, right?"
"And you call yourself a professor? Do you forget that she's the princess of the Sapin!" The Elf DC officer shouted,
"Why not? After you enter this Academy you are not bound to what you have outside. We the professors are the rules here, and we can do whatever we wanted." I retorted.
After I said my words, the princess looked at me disgusted. I then turned my head to the brat who was kneeling, not able to stand up anymore from blood loss.
"You know what? If you didn't act haughtily things will not end like this." I said, as I grinned as the brat coughed a mouthful of blood.
I saw him raised his hand and pointed something behind me.
"Are you trying to make me look around so you can land a hit? Sure I look back just make sure you could land hit if I do so." I mocked as I turned my head to look behind.
As I turned my head, my eyes widen as I couldn't believe what I saw. The boy that I thought I defeated, was sitting on a chair made of rock that he conjured, looking at me with a bored expression.
"H-how?"
Arthur Leywin POV
After I saw the door was being pushed open and saw the Director entering. After she entered she looked at me and send a message through sound magic.
'what's happening in here Arthur? Why are you fighting one of my professor?' the director asked as she sighed.
'a little demonstration.' I replied, as I saw her shake her head. Since she was here, I decided to end this boring duel.
'Feyfey, Kathyln. What you're about to see is an illusion and don't interfere. Try to act concerned and make the professor show his true color. The director is here so don't be afraid.' I send them a message by using a sound magic. I see the both of them nodded their heads.
I used some gravity magic first so he wouldn't suspect something was wrong. I then casted an illusion spell to the entire classroom, and all of them were put inside the illusions.
I then conjured a chair for me to sit. I watch the drama unfold, and I was impressed by Kathyln and Feyfey's acting.
This drama is good. It's a pity they don't have a popcorn. I thought, as the professor responded to my colleagues.
Looking at the director, I saw her looked at her professor disgustingly. Then she looked around trying to find something, It seems like she also knew this was an illusion.
The professor start mocking my illusion, While my illusion pointed at my direction. The professor look behind and his eyes wide in disbelief. The whole class except the three who knew I was using illusion looked at me shocked.
"H-how?" The professor asked, pointing a finger at me.
"Do you see how this professor act director?" I didn't pay attention to the professor, and questioned the director instead. The director shake her head and sighed.
"Director if I may?" Kathyln asked for permission to speak, and the director allowed her. "After this pathetic professor enter the room he gaze around the room with lust. You can also hear what he said when I asked him to stop. He's sexually harassing a member of the royal family, he can be sentenced to death for doing that."
After Kathyln said this, those students who also knew the professor behavior complained. The other students who didn't noticed it were shocked, and looked to the professor disgustingly.
"We couldn't arrest him from the lack of evidence. So when our captain find a chance to screw him up by doing this 'demonstration', he asked us to stay back and let him do it." Feyfey explained, so the others will know why I was the one who fought the professor.
The Director and students nodded their heads in understanding. Professor Geist couldn't defend himself and can only watch the things unfold.
"The students had spoken. Geist from now on you are fired from your position as a professor. And will be charged by the law for what you did. Guards arrest him and bring him to the jail." The director announced, as the students applaud for what the director said.
Before the guards that come along with the director can step forward. Geist who was fired from his position look at me with anger.
"It's all your fault!" He dashed forward with his sword In hand coated with blue fire.
Before he can even come near me. He was put inside a water sphere, that lifted him from the ground.
"Finally. I want to do this from the start, if only my rival didn't stopped me." Feyfey said with a grin.
Geist was about to die being drowned. When Feyfey remove the spell, dropping Geist who coughed out the water he drank.
I walked toward Geist who is still coughing, and placed my hand on his neck. I then send some sound magic causing him to lose concious. The guards then pickup the unconscious Geist and bring him out.
"As expected from my rival. Your skills improved since the last we fought." Feyfey put his arm around my shoulder, and giving me a thumbs up.
"I can say the same to you. Being able to subdue a light-yellow mage with a single spell. You became even stronger than before." I complimented him, and he smiled, as he couldn't hide the happiness he had after hearing my compliment.
"Cough! I know you want to catch up, but you need to hurry up and go to your next class. And Arthur expect to be called to my office later." The director said, as she left the room.
We both agreed that he will asked me on what I do during this last three years. Before we left for our next class.
As I walked through the hallway. Sylvie also came back from finding some foods, and I can see she was satisfied on what she did.
I was rather interested in my next class, Basics of Artificing. Artificing was something that never existed in my old world. I was sure there were relevant ties to technology used in my old world but the premise of manipulating and coding mana to have specific uses designated to an object would be new to me.
Upon entering the classroom, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the layout of the room was that of a laboratory. Beakers, containers, different types of ores and various gadgets filled the room, making it all the more authentic.
I was somewhat relieved to see that there was no one I knew in this class, giving me peace of mind. As students started filing in and sitting next to acquaintances and friends, a girl that looked to be about my age walked by and stood next to the stool beside mine.
"I-Is this seat taken? If it is, I'll move somewhere else!" I didn't know why she looked so panicked but I couldn't help but chuckle at her innocent personality.
"No, the seat isn't taken. You're free to sit there if you wish." I said with a welcoming smile, taking a seat myself.
The girl was ordinary, to say the least. Her thick round glasses magnified her eyes and the freckles underneath them. Her curly hair looked like it had a life of its own, as it was forcibly tied into a ponytail down her back.
Compared to girls like Tess and Kathyln, whom everyone fawned over-and for good reason-she was rather plain. But for some reason, it was comfortable around her.
"Th-Thank you..." she muttered with her head faced down. "...mily."
"What was that?" I leaned in closer to hear her last sentence.
"Emily! My name is Emily Watsken! Please be my friend-I mean, please to meet you!" Her eyes widened, stunned at her own words.
I shared her expression before I burst out into a laugh.
"Sure. My name is Arthur Leywin." I grasped her hand and couldn't help but become surprised by how coarse her palm was.
"O-Oh! I'm sorry! It probably feels gross, right?" She retracted her callused hand while her face turned a bit red, accentuating the freckles on her cheeks.
"No, it's quite fine. I have calluses too. See?" I held my sword hand out to reveal the hardened lumps on my palms
"Wow...you're right! You must practice a lot! It's no wonder you're in the disciplinary committee. I really admire that! For me, I really love artificing, so I end up fiddling around with a lot gadgets. Unfortunately, it makes my hands get this rough." She scratched her head, her sentences becoming faster as she got more comfortable with me
"Really? I rather admire people like you. I'm jealous that you have such a passion for artificing. The only thing you get better at when fighting is destroying and killing, but the better you get at artificing, the more things you can create." I looked down at my own callused hands.
"Woah... that's deep." I saw Emily readjust her thick glasses while she pondered what I had just said in her head.
"Haha, I ended up saying something unpleasant. I apologize." The class was getting pretty loud as the room filled up with eager students, most of which were here as a scholar mages.
"No no no! It wasn't unpleasant at all! Just, it's not something you hear every day from a twelve-year-old." She desperately shook her hands to gesture that it was okay.
"You say that as if you aren't a twelve-year-old yourself," I snickered as I looked at her.
Slumping in her chair, she lets out a sigh. "True... It's because I'm apparently a genius of some sorts. I don't really get why people say that but people don't really treat me as a child anymore after I created the projection display artifact."
"Wait what? You're the one that invented the display used to show the kings' and queens' announcement?" I stood up from my stool.
"Mhmm, well only a part of it... I tinkered around with some of the things in my parents' lab and I made the basic designs a couple years back." She scratched her curly hair again.
Sinking back into my stool, I let out a deep breath. Holy crap. She built something like that when she wasn't even 10!
"Well, I must say that it is an honor to be in the presence of a genius such as yourself." I give her a smirk, bowing my head in mock fealty.
"Oh, please. Don't you start now too! Besides, you're quite famous too, you know!" She gave me a smirk as her glasses reflect the classroom light, making her look like an evil scientist.
"Famous? Is it good or bad? What is it?" I asked as she chuckled.
"Oh it's nothing to worry. It's just a student of a scholar mage became the captain of the newly formed committee. With a cute white fox who's using her cuteness to eat free food from the cafeteria. And toyed the professor as if it's nothing." She replied, and the information shocked me.
I looked at Sylvie, and she just looked away. Seeing this Emily laughed.
"How did you know it though? That professor thing happened fifteen minutes ago!"
"Don't be so surprised! This is a magic academy, after all. News travels fast and gossip travels even faster. I bet you some people in this class already know what happened." She smirked while wagging her finger.
"Oh God... You know, I noticed you're awfully talkative now compared to when you stuttered your greeting when you first came in." I couldn't help but realize the change in her personality.
"Shut up! I s-suck with strangers, okay? Besides, I don't usually get along with new people this easily. You're different, though! It was easy to get comfortable with you since we're really similar." She harrumphed, crossing her arms over her undeveloped chest.
"Similar in what way?" I raise a brow.
She grinned broadly, "We're both freaks!"
I rolled my eyes at her conjecture but realized that, because of how high her intelligence was, I was more comfortable with her than other kids my age.
The door was pushed open, and an all too familiar voice shouted. "Greetings, plebeians! Please feel honored to have me, Professor Gideon, as your teacher for this class!" The crazy scientist skedaddled his way onto the podium while the pair of goggles that were hanging from his neck bounced up and down.
As he gazed through the classroom with a condescending eye, he eventually reached Emily and me.
"AH! Well, if it isn't Arthur. I had no idea that you would be in my class!" He clasped his cheeks in an obviously fake way, making me shake my head.
"And my oh my, getting along with Miss Watsken! I must say you two would make quite the team! Good good! Let's begin the first day of classes by a little introduction of myself!" He smiled, writing his name in big letters behind him.
Before he could start his lesson. when an olive green owl suddenly flew in from the window, landing on my shoulder.
"Kyu!" Sylv jumped up in surprise and growled as the owl just calmly grooms itself.
"Well, it seems like Director Goodsky is beckoning you, brat!" Gideon walked up to me, massaging his hunched shoulders.
"You shouldn't keep her waiting. Shoo! Off you go!" He slapped my back as he pushed me out of the room.
I examined the owl as he did the same to me. I didn't expect the director to have a bond, what's more it's a wyvern a strong one at that. I'm sure wyvern this level could talk so I'm sure he will respond if I asked him.
"What a surprise to see a wyvern as the director's bond. So care to explain why the Director need me? The incident were already finished, and she only said she will call me later do you know why?" I asked, The owl was shocked after he finished examining me. And I saw him become shocked not because I know his identity, but something I didn't know either.
"H-how are beings like you were here? And my name is Avier a pleasure to meet someone like the both of you." The owl said, I released some pressure at him after hearing what he said.
"Speak. What do you mean by beings like me?"I demanded for an answer. But I saw his eyes widen more.
"Wait you didn't know?" Avier asked confusedly.
"That's why I'm asking you know speak." I responded.
"I'm sorry but, if you're parents didn't tell you themselves. I don't have the authority to do it either, just forget what I said earlier. Once again my apologies." Avier replied while bowing his head.
"Okay I understand, I will ask my parents later about that." I said as bowed once again.
"Thank you, for your understanding." Avier said as we make our way to the director's office.
I know I shouldn't force Avier to answer my question but, I'm rather confused on what he said. Beings like me? Did he mean a reincarnated person or something else? I should ask my parents when I have time.
