Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: forgotten in the library

[AUTHOR'S POV]

" Then Aiko-chan I will return in the evening. enjoy reading " Ryohei said, patting Aiko's head and then he left the building.

Aiko, who was stuck in the children's section, sighed heavily .

' I have to find a way to sneak to the adult section where there will be ninja books' while thinking of a plan her eyes landed on the receptionist who was smiling at her , she smiled back at her , then an idea came to her mind.

she headed towards the desk " excuse me ma'am can you help me find some Ninja books ? '' a shy smile was placed on her face as she spoke softly, she looked up at her with her big puppy eyes...she seemed like an obedient daughter. She was mentally hoping this would work out.

" I want to become a Ninja !!! My papa gave me a mission to find Taijitsu books for beginners but I can't find them anywhere so….can you help me find them? " She asked sweetly, looking down trying not to let the excitement show through her eyes.

the receptionist thought about it for a moment

"erm..I'm not too sure-"

Before she could deny, Aiko looked at her again, with teary puppy eyes

"pretty please?"

The older woman couldn't go against her cuteness and nodded «yes» smiling down at the little girl then she spoke to her " Alright, I'll take you to the adult section but make sure to only get the book you mentioned, don't touch the advanced ones!"

Her smile grew bigger as she added"I'm sure you will become a great ninja someday"

"Hai!"

she grinned mentally.

Aiko thanked her and went with the woman happily.

"What's your name, little girl?" The woman asked.

"I'm Aiko!"

" That's a pretty name fitting a pretty lady like you~" she teased her, holding her hand as they were walking to the adults section.

Once they arrived, The woman let go of her hand and started helping her search for the book she mentioned.

Aiko hesitated a bit before she said " emm ... can I look for it myself …? Please?" While looking at her with her usual cute eyes.

" I don't think that will be allowed but if you want to do so I don't see any harm in allowing you to search on your own. go ahead, you will find me at the desk if you need something !"

"...thank you " Aiko bowed cutely, thanking her.

' Yes! It worked! I deserve an Oscar for my acting skills' she smiled to herself.

After she left, Aiko started searching the shelves until she finally found a volume that caught her attention. It was called the basics of funijitsu written by Uzumaki Morro . The book was a good choice, it would get her into the right direction for mastering the Art of Sealing.

She leaned her back on the shelf and began reading it.

She was a bit disappointed since the book didn't cover more than basics and it's used in practical situations. Maybe she will look for another one .

It didn't take long for her to become lost in the world of the theories and techniques of fuinjutsu .

When she finished reading, she decided to put the book down and continue her search for any other books featuring the same domain.

She was satisfied with the information though .

it had been almost 5 hours since she entered this place, which made Aiko wonder if she had any time to check the other Ninja arts.

She sighed and put down the book she was reading then she started looking around the shelves for Taijutsu scrolls.

When she finally found the one she liked, she sat down and started reading it while trying to Visualize each move in her brain, memorizing the basic moves.

~Two hours later~

she stretched her arms and looked at the clock, it was 4 pm. The time her father promised he would come pick her up.

She took the Taijitsu scroll she didn't finish reading and she also went to the Children's section and took a random book she didn't even read the title, she just needed it as a distraction from her parents.

She gave them to the receptionist who registered them under her name.

She put them in her backpack and bowed to the woman then walked outside of the library and stood there, waiting for her Father…

It has been one hour and he still hasn't shown up and Aiko still hasn't lost her patience.

And she waited for yet another hour…

The Sun was setting and the sky started darkening.

'Is it just me or… he actually forgot me?'

She asked herself, sweatdropping.

It was completely silent as a crow passed by.

She finally decided to walk home on her own.

' I should hurry back before Mother burns dinner..'

-Time skip after she arrived home-

She knocked on the door then her mother opened it with a big smile.

"Welcome home, Aiko-chan!" She chirped

Then her smile dropped when she noticed that Aiko was alone. No signs of Ryohei anywhere.

"Aiko-chan.. don't tell me… Your father didn't pick you up?" She asked Her, a tick mark appearing on her forehead while she tried to smile.

Aiko gulped, knowing that her father was in a very big trouble.

~later that night ~

Ryohei came back after drinking with Shikaku and Inochi .

' why do I feel like I forgot something

important ' he thought trying to remember but he shrugged and resumed walking.

After a while he arrived at the front door , He was about to knock on the door when he felt a chill run down his spin and he gulped opening the door .

"Tadaima " he said quietly as he removed his sandals and headed to the living room where he found Tomoko with a dark aura surrounding her holding up a pan, ready to beat him up with it.

And that's when he knew he was doomed.
