Suyin couldn't help but gasp in amazement. She struck gold while listening to Meixiu.
Her eyes gleamed with excitement and nervousness, as she wanted to share this moment with her grandmother.
Meixiu looked at the table again and returned, turning her body to face Suyin.
"If this were from the Yuan Dynasty, this would only cost around 10 million yuan, but this table costs around 90 million yuan and could potentially rise in value."
Liang's mouth opened at Meixiu's calculations after only staring at the table for five minutes.
His eyes went toward the ordinary-looking table. The person he asked only said that their table wouldn't rise in value anymore; that's why it was picked.
Not that the Pan family wanted to scam the others, but they wanted to get rid of non-value-driven antiques that could still rise in value.
He couldn't help but blush in embarrassment. He'll surely hear a lot of nagging about how he completely gave the Jia family the fortune they should have.
-
Suyin and Meixiu went behind the stage, following the table, as Suyin didn't mind the remaining two items. Her smile widens as she contributes yet again to the Jia family's fortune.
And how Meixiu proved herself yet again to their family.
Meixiu, on the other hand, found something under the table, and she couldn't help but furrow her eyebrows in confusion. The men gently put the table down in its original area before Suyin looked at Meixiu.
"Ms. Song, I'll be paying for the table. Can you wait here?"
Meixiu looked towards Suyin, her lips turning into a smile as she nodded. Suyin smiled before bowing down as the men assisted her towards where she'd be paying.
Meixiu quickly looked under the table, seeing a small booklet barely hanging on the table slab. She quickly grabbed it and investigated the look of the book.
The book doesn't have a cover, and it looks worn out already. Still, the quality looks like it could manage another five years under the table.
Meixiu opened the unknown book, only to be hit by a blank page firsthand. Oh, wait, it has a light patch of gold ink on the paper.
'Herbal Medicine'
Meixiu's eyebrows furrow upon seeing the words. Her eyes went, and she looked towards the back of the book and saw the pattern the Qing Dynasty usually used.
Is this the missing herbal medicine book to cure any illness?
She quickly opened the book and saw the first page. It stated that it shouldn't be shared with anyone but someone with power.
But then, it confused her.
What do they mean by power? Is it the supernatural ones? Money? Status?
She didn't know yet, but she continued reading the content. She didn't see how Liang was approaching her because the event went well.
Meixiu quickly turned around, seeing an angry Liang in front with his fist balling in anger. Her eyebrows furrowed, and she hid the booklet behind her.
"Is there anything I can do to help you?"
"Who are you?"
Liang couldn't help but ask Meixiu that question. He didn't understand how she managed to catch those details on the wooden table, and the masters the family invited said another.
Is she the master that their trusted reader is saying?
The Pan family has their reader, and she said that they'll get to interact with the hidden master in the antique game, who has a manly aura but doesn't disclose her gender.
Liang looks at Meixiu up and down; could she be it?
Upon observation, Meixiu looks like someone who has a manly aura from every angle. She looks strong, and you wouldn't want to mess with her.
To prove something in his mind, he quickly grabs a small stone in his pocket. This stone was given to him by his grandfather, who said he bought it at a fair price to give him good luck.
He showed it in front of Meixiu and let the woman observe the stone he had. Meixiu knew what he wanted to do towards her, so she decided to give him the wrong idea.
"What's that?"
"What dynasty does this stone come from?"
Meixiu leans out to think of her answer. This confuses Liang, as he already knows that Meixiu would know right away at first glance, yet he still decides to wait for her answer.
The stone is nothing special. It was only picked up in someone's backyard, so Meixiu didn't know how the Pan family's brains work.
"It was from the Zhou Dynasty...?"
Meixiu said, unsure. Liang's hopeful eyes went disappointed at what she said and sigh in disagreement. He quickly put the stone back in his pocket.
"It was from the Sui Dynasty."
He spoke before he walked away from the woman. Meixiu nodded and said her apology towards the man, yet Liang didn't look back to acknowledge her.
Meixiu quickly remembered the book and put her hands towards her front, but her eyebrows furrowed upon not seeing the book in her hands.
She quickly looked behind her; maybe she dropped it somewhere, but there were no signs of the book getting dropped on the floor. She couldn't help but groan in annoyance as she let someone take the book away.
Yet she knows that she has great senses, so why wouldn't she feel her presence and the book getting stolen?
-
It wasn't until they left the venue that she saw the content inside her mind. But her eyebrows furrowed upon remembering that she hadn't opened the book fully because of Liang.
Suyin and Meixiu left the venue as soon as Suyin finished paying for the wooden table. Some men even tried to invite Suyin to a brunch, yet the woman refused their invitation.
Saying she has something important to do as well as Meixiu.
She can already sense that the people around her want to get close to the taller woman. Just like how she saw Liang talking towards Meixiu as if asking her something.
Suyin looked beside her, seeing as Meixiu was peacefully enjoying the ride and looking out of the window. She planned a brunch after the event, and Meixiu agreed to her request.
Meixiu's mind travels towards her wife. Remembering that she'll be texting her, she quickly grabs her phone from her pocket and writes a message to Xiaohui.
She dares not to text Xiaohui, considering how she scared the smaller woman earlier in the day just to prove her best friend something.
'Baby, is everything alright there?'
Xiaohui is peacefully reading the content of the paper she was tasked with, yet her mind keeps flying to what happened earlier. Her cheeks suddenly blush in embarrassment, but she shakes her head and looks out of the window in her office.
Her ears picked up the sound of a specific ringtone from her phone, causing her heart to errupt in cheers. She quickly went toward her table and grabbed her phone.
She quickly opened her phone; she couldn't help but blush even more upon seeing their wedding photo as her wallpaper. Yet she doesn't want to see her unhappy face.
Xiaohui navigated towards the message app, seeing Meixiu's name pop up on top of any other messages from someone she doesn't know. Her hands shakily opened the message and read the content.
Her face became disappointed.
Was she expecting something?
Yes.
Something related to the kiss earlier this morning?
Yes.
