Weimin drops Meixiu in front of the Zheng Company, wanting to see Xiaohui as soon as they drop Grandma Peng in their town.
Unfortunately, Ning's grandfather and her mother are away from their house, so Grandma Peng couldn't introduce Meixiu to them. Ning's mother works as her grandfather does on the farm not far from their house.
Grandma Peng urges Weimin and Meixiu to go home as soon as they can before dark, as the old lady doesn't want to make Xiaohui worry about her wife.
Meixiu walks inside the office and bows down towards the people who greeted her.
Her smiling face drops upon seeing Qiang, who went out of the elevator with a clutch that is guiding him to stand up.
The guy stops in his tracks, seeing the woman who caused the bruises around his body standing in front of him.
Meixiu looks at Qiang up and down before walking to the side, but Qiang quickly blocks her way with his clutch.
"How's your bruise?"
Meixiu started, glancing towards Qiang as the guy's lips turned into a sneer, his eyes glaring at the woman's eyes.
"How dare you come here after what you did to me!"
Qiang's voice ran around the lobby area, causing a few of the employees to look in their direction and lean on their friends to whisper.
It's a rare sight to find someone from the Zheng family getting beaten up with their bruises still healing but deciding to go back to the office.
Not that the Zheng family has everyone under control, but because of their kiss-up-kick-down personality, they manage to get their way out of trouble.
Mostly because there are times that the siblings would act stupid in front of a much higher person.
An example of that would be with the owner of a restaurant they once dined at.
Qiang has insulted the waiter, who was actually the owner but was only helping the restaurant because someone was absent because of family matters.
The owner of the restaurant is actually married to someone powerful and has a lot of connections, so after that night, Qiang was seen outside of the restaurant with gifts to show how apologetic he is.
Though the owner accepted the apology, she banned the whole Zheng family from ever coming back to her restaurant.
But that wasn't the worst because today Qiang seems different, as he has difficulties even walking around the area.
Yet he has the audacity to confront Meixiu, considering the girl could beat him with one finger if she pushes him.
Meixiu's eyebrows raise in the process, looking up and down on his body again before she says something that angers Qiang.
"I'm here to visit my wife. How dare you come to me when I can definitely push you with one finger?"
Considering his situation, Meixiu couldn't help but mock him in the process.
What else could she lose from this corrupt family of Zheng? Nothing, because they didn't even know who she really was.
Even her wife, though she is planning on telling her at least something for her to turn to and trust her,
The look on Qiang's face was priceless for Meixiu; she could feel the despised emotion he was feeling, but he wouldn't be able to do anything because he knew the girl in front was right.
"Meixiu?"
The girl mentioned looked at her back and saw Xiaohui standing with an envelope in hand.
After the late lunch meeting she has with Wenqian, Grandpa Zheng quickly asks to see her presence and goes to one of their investors, wanting to ask for permission to do another business.
It has been the busiest day for Xiaohui, as she has been looking at and reviewing a lot of papers that Mingxia keeps giving her.
Xiaohui walks in their direction before glancing at Qiang and raising her eyebrows.
"What are you doing?"
She asks as the guy scoffs before removing the clutch that he uses to block Meixiu's pathway.
He glares at the two before walking away from them, not wanting to get hurt or cause drama for employees to gossip about.
-
"How did you drop Mama off? Did you drop her off at the train station and leave her there?"
Xiaowen asks, her eyes looking straight towards Meixiu as the girl takes a bite of her dish.
Xiaohui shakes her head before grabbing a piece of meat on the plate and putting it towards Meixiu's and her plates.
"Mom, she probably went to drop Grandma off in town."
Xiaohui said, glancing at Meixiu. The taller woman looked at her and smiled before she went back to her plate, putting the meat that Xiaohui had put in her mouth.
"It must be a hustle because they sat on the train, then rode a bus and a taxi; they wasted a ton of money."
Xiaowen said, looking at her daughter. Xiaohui sighs and shakes her head, not wanting to argue with her mother as she's exhausted from all the happenings earlier at the company.
"Tingfeng is willing to drop-"
"Mom, drop it already. Grandma's already in town safe and sound."
Xiaohui stood up from the chair and went towards their bedroom to change her clothes and get away from her mother.
"How dare you turn your back when I'm talking to you?"
Xiaowen stands up, following Xiaohui, as Meixiu shakes her head and looks at the plates.
They have already finished their meal, so she shrugs her shoulders and stands up, cleaning the table in the process.
As she put the dishes in the sink, the bedroom door opened, revealing Xiaohui, with Xiaowen following closely behind her.
"I'm telling you, Tingfeng is willing-"
"Mom, stop. I don't want to hear anything about Tingfeng or anyone you'd push on me."
"What? Are you starting to like that garbage?"
Meixiu stops in her tracks as she puts down the plate she's rinsing and leans her body on the sink, listening closely to the mother-daughter conversation.
"Mom, why would-"
"Is she telling you to stop me pushing you around? Was it because of that trash?"
"Mom-"
"No, I want to know because she doesn't even deserve to have you!"
Xiaohui sighs and looks at the kitchen, hearing no movements, before glancing back at her mother, who is sitting down on the couch.
"It's my decision; I'm tired of you controlling my life."
"What?"
Xiaowen stops upon hearing what her daughter just said. Did she ever control her daughter? She's only guiding her to safety and graciousness, so why isn't she thankful?
She couldn't help but feel upset at what her daughter said, her eyes becoming teary as she flopped down on the floor.
"My daughter doesn't love me anymore!"
Xiaowen wails as she kicks her feet, her tears going down from her eyes to her cheeks, staining them in the process.
Xiaohui sighs and shakes her head, not wanting to deal with her mother's antics, so she stands up from the couch and goes towards the kitchen.
"She won't shut up until you do what she asks you to."
Meixiu said, her hands going back to work on the dishes before looking at her back and seeing her wife standing with her arms crossed on her chest.
"She wants to come with us this weekend to see Grandma, but she'll invite Tingfeng and ride with him."
