Alex walked into Ama's bedroom to see if she needed anything but she was peacefully asleep with Phyllis caressing her short hair.
Alex smiled as he leaned on the door frame, Phyllis had been really taking care of Ama recently, Phyllis looked at him then smiled and motioned him to come closer, which he did.
When he placed an ear on Ama's belly, he heard the light but steady heartbeat of his child and felt the joy in his heart.
Ama's eyes fluttered open as she looked into Alex's eyes then smiled warmly and he couldn't help but kiss her forehead.
Phyllis gasped silently as he looked at her then smiled and said,"You're the only one for me, Phyllis."
Then he kissed her on the lips.
He placed his arm around Phyllis' shoulder then placed her head on his chest, but was actually confused...why did he feel this way, towards Ama?

"Sweetie, wake up."Alexa said.
"Mom, it's Saturday, I can sleep in."Nicky said.
"Saturday will be the perfect day for us to go."
"Go where?"
"To meet Azuma."
Nicky jumped up then asked,"Really?!"
Alexa nodded as Nicky hugged her tightly then she said,"Okay but we better hurry before he finds out from his parents."
Nicky's pajamas immediately changed into outing clothes by use of her light as she said she was ready.
Alexa kissed Curtis then walked towards the portal but Nicky realized something,"Aren't the others coming?"
"They still have to go to the camp and I think this is something you must handle alone."
Nicky nodded then took a deep breath as she walked through the gateway, then she ran back through then hugged Curtis then said she loved him, before going to join her mother.
Azuma's mother said he should go and get some firewood and he was confused as there was still plenty, but he just decided to go then dropped the axe and time literally slowed down as the two ran into each other's arms.
Azuma kissed Nicky's hair then tightened his grip on her and when they pulled back, she wiped the tears on her face and said,"I have really missed you."
"Not as much as I have you."He answered.
He had his arm on her slender shoulders as they walked towards the compound house he lived in and she looked back to her mother who was talking with her parents and flashed a smile at her.
They talked and talked till Azuma lost track of time, but not Nicky, she had discovered an ability she possessed that she named the Perfect Timing, where she had the ability to calculate in her head the exact amount of time that passed more accurately than even a caesium clock.
She could also use this skill to slow down or speed up her own perception of time, making time move slower or faster just to her brain but not her body or anybody else.
After exactly thirteen minutes, forty two seconds and twelve milliseconds of talking (she could go much further), she heard drumming and chanting.
She thought it was a festival till she saw the grave expression on Azuma's face then asked what was wrong and he answered,"It's Dzifa."
"Who?"She asked.
"...my betrothed."He said, with guilt mingled in his voice.
Nicky frowned and left though he tried to make her stay only to see she had an entire entourage just for her, with servants in the finest African silk Kente, throwing gold coins to the crowd of villagers, she being in a palanquin carried by four muscular men, being shaded from the sun by the huge and colourful umbrella.
' Man, doesn't this narcissist know how to make an entrance. ' Nicky thought.
They stopped beside the compound and as the glorified princess walked down from her purple and golden throne, maids fanned her with eagle feathers and covered her with a personal parasol, Nicky just rolled her eyes.
When she got to them, she just snapped her fingers and said,"Bow."
Azuma readily did it but Nicky pulled him to his feet and said,"I don't know who you think you are but I won't let you command Azuma to do demeaning tasks like that just for your enjoyment."
Princess Dzifa looked like she had been slapped across the face and everyone in Azuma's extended family and village gasped.
Azuma said it was okay and tried to kneel but Nicky glared at him as Dzifa began to giggle then asked,"You have no idea who you're talking to, do you?"
"Dzifa Mampong, eldest daughter of the paramount chief of the group of villages which extends through the East side of the territory, betrothed to Azuma and a royal pain did that clarify it for you?"Nicky asked.
Dzifa looked surprised for a second then began to laugh and her first stunned servants also joined in nervously as Dzifa said,"I see you are enlightened."
"With much more brain power than you I might add."
"Well let me tell you one thing, Azuma is mine, whether you like it or not and as such, he does what I ask, so if I say he should bow, he does, now bow Azuma."
He was about to go to his knees when Nicky stopped him, but Dzifa repeated her command with growing impatience, but Nicky wasn't allowing him, Azuma was torn between who to listen to and heard his family begging for him to bow, so he did.
Dzifa burst out laughing then said,"I told you he'd do anything I..."
Nicky slapped her across the face and everyone gasped as her guards charged towards Nicky, but with a snap of her fingers, all of them were immobilized, even the spears they threw got stuck in mid air.
Nicky then walked closer to the scared Dzifa and said,"You were right, I do like Azuma and I will not let any spoiled brat like you mess with him and if you ever do, you'll have to answer to me."
"Y-you don't know what you're doing, you could start a terrible war, everyone will die."
Nicky looked at her then asked,"Then why don't I just wipe you from existence so that doesn't happen?"
Alexa finally spoke,"Nicky, that's enough."
Nicky smirked at the fallen giant then said,"Toodles your highness."
She swiped her arm and time was reversed on the guards till they forgot about what had happened, leaving Dzifa traumatized.
Nicky walked back into the hut with Azuma, who kept looking back then she smiled at him and said,"Don't worry, she wouldn't restart the hundred year war, her dad's bedridden."
"That's what I'm worried about."Azuma said.
She didn't understand that statement.
