The woman took me for a tour of the headquarters which was actually smaller than I imagined, it was probably because there were so few employees.
Apart from the five sky scrapers, it had different simulated biomes around it like a desert, a savannah, a jungle, a coniferous forest, a permafrost, etc.
I was taken to the shortest building which was where I was going to live.
I was met by some men and women sitting at a rectangular table and gossiping, pretty mature.
I was walking away when I heard them bad mouthing my dad, I grew furious then ran back and slammed my palms on the table and yelled,"Don't ever talk about my father like that!"
Immediately, ice creeped from my palms all around the table and formed sharp, diagonal stalagmites which grew from the covers in front of them and stopped inches away from their necks.
After I knew I had left a message, I walked away then the ice started evaporating then sublimed due to the low pressure I made it experience.
One of the men looked around at the others then said,"I think I wet myself..."
Then they all started to chuckle.
I sensed all the conversations going on and apart from that broad table of idiots, their conversations were all formal.
I didn't understand why there were living spaces, this was a mission center, not a condominium.
I was taken to a relatively high room and looked down at the landscape.
The views were killer, but I wanted my family back.
I wasn't allowed to go for missions for my own safety, though I missed kicking monster butt.
Monsters were simply mutated organisms, usually animals and protozoa and most of them were mutated by the meteorite which gave lights.
Because of this, most of them had a light or two of some kind.
When they absorbed the radiation from the meteorite, some of them had more genes affected, making them look different and have different diets.
Though most of them aren't threats and could actually be used for tourism purposes, since each was mutated differently and so was one of a kind, some of them could be dangerous and attack humans.
In such a situation, a Monster Hunter will be sent to at least save the person, the monsters were only killed when there was an utmost need.
Monsters were graded on two categories. The first, which is alphabetical, depicts how much they were mutated, which talks about how many alleles or even genes were changed, not necessarily how big and scary they look, but surprisingly, the more mutated, they more adapted and the more dangerous.
The second category was numerical and stated the level of their light. As mentioned earlier, not all of them have lights, but those which did were categorized. The highest ever recorded was at level 3, since they weren't usually smart enough to purposely train their lights.
The smartest ones on the other hand, which displayed similar or greater intellectual capacity with or than humans, could be as high as level 13, since they usually lived so long.
I was first served food by some maids who blushed and giggled when they saw me. I just ignored their ogling.
After I ate, I went to take a warm bath then went to bed, even though it was high noon. At least I thought, it's difficult to tell the time when you're in the ocean.
I woke up the next day then went to the permafrost to train.
I was doing free running tricks in sync with water when I sensed someone walking towards me.
I had sensed they were following me, but ignored them, till they came close enough for me to identify them.
I turned back and yelled,"Anneliese!"
I ran and hugged her then spun her in the air then placed her down.
She giggled as I asked,"What are you doing here?"
"Your dad figured you would be lonely so sent me to keep you company."
I hugged her tight then pulled back as she continued,"But since I will be missing out on a lot, you will have to train me, master."
I smiled then said excitedly,"Of course I will, which room will you be staying in?"
"Yours."She said.
"... what?"
She giggled then said,"Yes, silly, we're going to be roommates."
I didn't know whether to be happy or shy.
Then she giggled again, that made me happy...over the moon.
I smiled then kissed her on the forehead.
Then we began training together. Our performance was a lot better because we were together.
She was actually a fast learner and we worked in perfect harmony, in the perfect environment. There was rock and ice everywhere.
She also discovered a new sub skill on her own, lava manipulation, where she made the molecules of the rock oscillate faster till they broke off their chemical bonds and became liquid.
She could also control the lava as easily as I could control water, and cool it down rapidly to make glass, and control the glass as well.
We went back to our room soon after that and I was still nervous about the prospect of sharing a room with my crush/ girlfriend, but I had to get used to it, and wanted to.
I went to take a bath right after we arrived and walked out in my bathrobe, to see her reading a book, by my favourite author of all time.
I sat by her then she looked at me then smiled.
I lay on the bed as well and we read together.
We watched a horror movie together after I had finished changing and ate one of the healthiest snacks of all time, popcorn, to lighten the experience.
We were watching it then I falsely yawned then stretched my arm and placed it at her back.
She looked at me then ' yawned ' as well and placed her head on my shoulder, playing along, she said,"Yawning is contagious."
I smiled at her.
A scene passed and she squealed then hid her face in my chest.
I laughed and patted her back then she frowned at me and smacked the back of my head.
I laughed even harder then she rolled her eyes.
I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw, was her, on my laps. I smiled lightly then slowly lifted her off then left.
Anneliese woke up to see me serving her breakfast then looked at me, confused till I said,"I love you and will give you the African Queen treatment."
She laughed then hugged me...
