As Genvieve makes her way toward the dance floor, elbows locked uncomfortably tight with Brad I struggle to keep my expression neutral. I find Gabe's eyes across the hall who gives me a nod to let me know without words that he's watching her.
It's funny, after knowing that she has repeatedly chosen me over Brad, and even with my ring wrapped around her finger, he still ruffles my feathers when he makes eyes at her. People would say that a more confident man wouldn't be so jealous and possessive. Those people have never had someone like Genvieve to lose. I do. And It's not only the threat of another man that keeps me up at night.
"She's fine, let her dance," Brooklyn says, surprising me. When I snap my gaze to hers I find that she has moved to Gen's vacated seat between myself and Renee. She shoots me a placating smile before relaxing back into her seat.
