Chapter 13: No one like her
Eden turned and raised her face to watch him. It suddenly dawned on her that he was talking about himself. It must have been horrible for a child of fifteen years of age to find his mother like that, she knew it because she watched her own mother crash to her death.
"There you go again with the apology?! Tell me to go screw myself or mind my own fucking business, Eden" Asher yelled at her.
"You are hurting me, Asher" she simply murmured.
"And you are not?!" he yelled at her.
He knew she must be because five days ago, she jumped off a bridge and killed herself. And nobody kills themselves without being in unbearable pain..It was a fate he was going to change, a mission that placed him on the hit list of a mafia boss.
Asher suddenly realized that he was still holding her and his fingers were beginning to dig into her skin.
He let her go immediately.
"Why do you care about what and what I don't believe in? We are nothing but strangers. We've never met each other before" Eden reminded him.
Asher looked at her and he wanted to tell her the truth. He yearns to tell her the truth like he should have years ago. He wanted to say
(You are the love of my life! I have been in love with you ever since I was fifteen years old and I have never met anyone like you, Eden)
He almost did until he remembered why he couldn't. Having someone as passive and good, and unstable as Eden was a sure way to get killed in his world.
Survival in his world meant getting one's hand dirty and Eden was everything he wasn't. He had to hide her from Ballamino for as long as possible until he could dissuade Eden of the ridiculous notion of hers.
And he had a feeling that if he told Eden how he feels, she would bolt faster than he can say 'do you love me too?'
"I don't know" He murmured instead.
Eden stared at him and he held her gaze. A tiny part of him wished she would remember him. She had rocked his world but apparently, he barely made a dent in hers at fifteen years old. It was what good and niceness got him.
It was love at first sight for fifteen year old Asher but he was just a random face to her.
No-one would dare forget him now...no one at all. He was Asher Angelwings, even the most important person in the States knew his name.
"I want to go home" Eden told him.
"We will lodge in a hotel tonight and tomorrow we will fly back," Asher informed her.
"No…no…our deal didn't include sleeping over, Asher" Eden objected strongly.
"I know but we can't take off on the jet. The weather is bad and unless you would rather risk a crash than spending the night in a luxurious penthouse, then I suggest we stay. I won't lay a finger on you if that's what you are worried about" Asher told her.
He noticed she was cold. He removed his jacket and placed it on her.
"Thank you"
"You are welcome"
Asher's phone vibrated and he took it out. It was a text from Charlie.
(I have the package)
He placed the phone back into his pocket. He knew that the package was the code name for Ballamino's daughter - Mazekeem.
"Can we go?" Eden asked him.
"Yeah, I just have to run to the little boy's room. Just...stay here"
Asher walked away before She could say anything. He had the beloved daughter of a ruthless Mafia boss in the truck of his car.
When he came out to where Charlie parked the car, he was expecting to hear Mazekeem banging to be let out of the car trunk but instead, she was sitting on top of the car with her legs crossed.
She was wearing a red dress with a pair of black heels. She also had a lollipop in her mouth.
"Hey, babe!" she waved at him.
Asher stopped to look at Charlie like he was saying this doesn't look like kidnapping but Charlie simply shrugged.
Mazekeem didn't step down from the car but she smiled brightly. She was a beautiful woman with her red hair and perfect figure but everyone who knew anything about the New York Mafia knew Mazekeem was the sure way to get their head relieved from their body by her father. She was the apple of his eyes, his only daughter out of his five children and Mazekeem was no angel.
"Hey, Maze" Asher stopped in front of her and smiled nonchalantly.
Mazekeem took out the lollipop in her mouth to talk "You know Daddy wants your head, Asher"
Maybe it was just Asher but he found it weird that a twenty three year old woman still called her father 'Daddy'
"He wants it on a platter and if you hadn't gone and broken my tiny almost non-existent heart I might have gotten him to consider. But you had to go and fall out of love with me, didn't ya?" Mazekeem asked.
Asher would have told her he left her because she was a sociopath who had a knack for inflicting pain and killing but he simply didn't.
"Get Ares to back off, Maze. I am done with the syndicate"
"Well, Daddy isn't done with you yet. You are his best killer, Hellfire. He won't let go of you"
"Yes, I am his best killer. Do well to remind him of that and by the way, tell him Scarface sends his regards and he won't be returning any of his calls either"
Mazekeem came down from the car she was sitting in and moved closer to Asher. She traced his jawline with her finger before she kissed him on the lips.
Asher didn't push her away.
"What's it going to be? Are you going to take my thumb or my index finger?" She whispered into his ears seductively.
Asher chuckled."My brilliant girl, a finger nail would do. We wouldn't want to damage your pretty self just yet, sweetheart"
Mazekeem took a step back and placed her index finger on the car. "This is going to hurt like hell, it's going to be so fun! I love pain!"
Asher was right, she was a sociopath with a knack for inflicting pain and taking pain too. There was no one like Mazekeem Ballamino.
