"Qin Xiao." The undead, Gerald Wilson, responded with a monotone voice, and Lin Chen's eyes widened for a second before turning cold. "... I see. So it was that bastard who's behind this."
[ Qin Xiao. If I remember correctly, he's a model who's working in the same modelling agency as your girlfriend, right? Her senior? ]
"Ex-girlfriend." Lin Chen clarified. "And yes. That's the guy. He's the one who sent these goons to beat me up."
Lin Chen furrowed his eyebrows. He had met Qin Xiao before, when he dropped Jia off at the main building of her modelling agency. The man was a handsome youth, and he spoke in a very polite manner, although Lin Chen did notice that something was off in how he presented himself to him. As though he was acting.
'Did I ever come into any sort of conflict with him in my first life?' Lin Chen thought to himself and shook his head. He was sure that he had no contact with him other than that one time the two met. And that was that. The only form of contact that he had with Qin Xiao, both in this life as well his first one.
So why on earth was he trying to beat me up?
'Perhaps Jia told him to do so? As an attempt to take revenge against him for dumping her?' Lin Chen tried to figure out the reason. He certainly doesn't remember such an event happening in his first life, and the only change he made that was even remotely related to Qin Xiao was to dump Jia before she could dump Lin Chen.
Lin Chen then glanced at the undead Gerald before squinting his eyes. "So, how on earth did this Qin Xiao get into contact with you?"
"Qin Xiao's.. father.. is… a…patron of the…Blackrose club…" The undead Gerald spoke in a slow and soft tone, and Lin Chen became even more confused.
"What the hell is the blackrose club?" Lin Chen wanted to know. He wanted answers, not questions.
"Blackrose club is… an underground bar in… in Tublin City… It's a place… owned by… the Blue Falcon.. Blue Falcon Cartel.." The undead, Gerald Wilson, spoke softly while stuttering, and Lin Chen's eyes widened with surprise and shock.
"You work for the Blue Falcon Cartel?" Lin Chen asked, his loud voice echoing throughout the large basement, bouncing all over the walls and the ceiling.
[ I'd suggest you keep your voice down, boy. You don't want anyone to know that we're here. ]
Lin Chen ignored the boar demon's warning and walked up to the undead before grabbing him by the collar and asking him, "Answer me! Did you really work for the Blue Falcon Cartel?"
"Yes.. although we are.. are low in rank…" The undead Gerald spoke with great difficulty as it seemed like it was having trouble completing sentences.
"The Blue Falcon Cartel… This might be troublesome." Lin Chen sighed before letting go of the undead Gerald's collars and leaning against the wall.
[ What is the Blue Falcon Cartel? Do you know of them? ]
"... They're the biggest criminal organization in the country." Lin Chen contemplated his words for a second before replying. "Although they get disbanded in the future due to the authorities cracking down on illegal drug trades, currently, they coordinate the largest drug trafficking operation in the country, and maybe even the world."
[ They sound like they're really powerful. ]
"You have no idea.." Lin Chen responded with a frustrated expression on his face. He knew about the Blue Falcon Cartel as it was such big news when the Protector Organization tracked and hunted down their leader, Luo Ginlong. The front page of almost every newspaper was filled with new information about the Cartel and its inner workings.
"To think that I'd get involved with the Blue Falcon Cartel…" Lin Chen shook his head. This was not a problem that he wanted to deal with right now. Currently, he is very weak. He could handle his fellow classmates and a few thugs, but not a whole drug cartel.
Lin Chen stared at the two undeads that he had resurrected, and he squinted his eyes. From what he has heard and read about the workings of the cartel, the low ranking members, consisting mainly of thugs and thieves, weren't treated like they were part of the crime family.
Simply put, they weren't someone whose deaths would make the cartel assemble their best assassins and track down the person responsible for their deaths. In the eyes of the cartel, they were simply expendable.
'I don't have to worry about the sudden disappearance of these guys…" Lin Chen rubbed his forehead as he looked up at the ceiling. 'But what about Qin Xiao?'
[ So, what do you plan on doing? ]
Boar demon sounded curious. And also a little bit excited. Lin Chen looked frustrated as he whispered softly under his breath. "Of course, since Qin Xiao decided to teach us a lesson, it's only fair that we returned the favor. But if his father really is a patron of the Blackrose club and has some sort of relationship with the cartel, then that would make things more difficult."
[ So you won't be taking revenge anytime soon? ]
"Whoa, hold on.. I didn't say that now, did I?" A sinister smile had formed on Lin Chen's face as he spoke. "Like I said, it's only fair that we return the favor to him. We just have to get a bit more… creative."
All of a sudden, Lin Chen snapped his fingers and said, "Do you remember the method I used on the Patriarch of the Weng family back when I was Lin Ming?"
[ Why, yes I do. How could I forget? You made that man go insane and kill himsel- oh! ]
The boar demon exclaimed, as though it had finally realized what Lin Chen planned to do to Qin Xiao.
"He did try to beat me up, didn't he?" Lin Chen grinned as he walked towards the furnace and knelt down, staring at the flames with delight before continuing, "Don't worry. My powers are still weak, so he most probably wouldn't die. Although, after my spell, he'll most likely wish that he was dead.."
