Droplets of rain quietly poured down on Ginlong Mountain. It was already late in the night, and a slight breeze was blowing along with the light rain, making the atmosphere a bit colder than usual. Although it was nighttime, Ginlong Mountain was not covered in darkness; the faint moonlight illuminated the mountain, down to the very foot of it.
"Young lord!" A middle aged man wearing armour and holding onto a large sword yelled out, his gaze fixed on a young man standing right next to him.
Behind the two men stood countless soldiers, almost all of whom had nervous expressions on their faces.
"I know, Uncle." The young man replied with a soft voice, and the middle aged man gulped down the saliva in his mouth and clenched his fists. The young man hadn't turned to look at his uncle when he spoke, and instead, his gaze was focused forward, near the Thousand Year World Tree.
"Hup… Hup…" A figure could be seen underneath the Thousand Year World Tree. A man with long black hair and a grey beard.
"Hup… Hup…" Although there were about a thousand men surrounding him, the man seemed not to care, and continued with his work.
"Hup.. hup…"
"Uncle Jin…" The young man who was watching the mysterious figure slowly tilted his head to the side and whispered softly under his breath. "What the hell is the dark sorcerer doing?"
"Oh…" The middle aged man seemed taken aback by the young lord's question, and his eyes scanned the mysterious man for a split second before readjusting his gaze back onto the young lord. "Well, young master.. the dark sorcerer appears to be doing-"
"Pushups, you dumb bitch!" All of a sudden, a cold and hoarse voice entered into their ears, making the two men flinch in surprise.
"What the-" Both the young lord and the middle aged man seemed to have been caught off guard by what they heard, but they immediately calmed themsel down and focused their gazes on the mysterious man in front of them. They were certain that it was him who had spoken just now.
"Dark sorcerer! Were you the one who spoke to us?" The young lord gritted his teeth and took a step forward as he spoke.
"I merely answered your question. " The 'Dark Sorcerer' replied as he got up from the ground and assumed a squatting position. "... And the name is Lin Ming, you little shit."
"How dare you insult the young lord, you evil bastard!" The middle aged man, Uncle Jin, stepped forward as he pointed his finger at Lin Ming. " Do you honestly think that you deserve to have your name spoken by the lord of the Jiang Family? You barbaric fool! You are nothing but a demon worshipper! A devil wearing human skin! You don't have the right to make demands to anyone, let alone the young lord!"
"Fuckers…" Lin Ming gritted his teeth as he slowly got up and onto his feet. He knew that no matter what he told these people, they wouldn't listen to his words. They had already branded him as a demon worshipper, and this meant that the stage had already been set, and the hero and the villain had already been decided. There was no changing their minds.
"To think that this might be the end… How pathetic!" Lin Ming let out a helpless chuckle before his expression suddenly changed, and both the young lord and Uncle Jin flinched in response.
What is this uneasiness that I'm feeling? The young lord thought to himself as he stared at the dark sorcerer.
"Well, if this is truly the final battle, then rest assured! I am definitely not planning on making it easy for you!" Dark Sorcerer Lin Ming whispered under his breath as he faced the thousands who had come to take his life. "Oh, and young lord.." Lin Ming's gaze shifted to the young lord. He then continued, "If I were you, I'd be careful of the Azure Flower Faction that your family blindly supports!"
"What do you mean, dark sorcerer?" The young lord squinted his eyes and looked at the dark sorcerer with a cautious expression on his face.
"Let's just say… We're not that different, you and I!" A sinister smile appeared on Lin Ming's face as he waved his hands in the air, and a bright blue light began to flash within his palms, causing both the young lord and the middle aged man's eyes to widen.
"What?! That stance! And those blue flames!! How could that be?!" Uncle Jin began to stutter as he spoke, and his hands began to tremble. "The Blue Moon Sword? But- but how.."
The Blue Moon Sword was a secret spell that only the members of the Azure Flower Faction knew. The spells of the Azure Flower Faction were exclusive to their faction, and yet, this random dark sorcerer was performing it?
"How is this possible?" The young lord seemed shaken. What the hell was going on?
"Young lord! Please focus on the mission at hand! Do not be swayed by the actions of a dark sorcerer!" A hand grabbed on the shoulder of the young lord from behind, and all of a sudden, his nervousness disappeared away from his body. Young lord Chen turned around and saw Commander Hwan standing behind him with a serious expression on his face.
"The dark sorcerer is merely attempting to distract you, young lord! He is most likely utilizing a similar spell that mimics the appearance of the Blue Moon Sword to fool you. Do not fall for his cheap tricks!" Commander Hwan said, and his hands clenched the shoulders of the young lord, who took a deep breath before nodding his head in reply. "Yo- You're right, Commander Hwan! I almost fell for his tricks, but never again!"
The young lord then waved his hands in the air in a similar manner to what the dark sorcerer had done just a few seconds ago, and a blue sword that's identical in appearance to the Lin Ming's manifested in his arms. "Dark sorcerer! You dare try to imitate the secret spells of my faction? Your lies and deception ends today, for you shall die by my hands!"
"I should've known that talking to an Azure Flower idiot was going to be useless…" The dark sorcerer muttered under his breath and let out a long sigh before he pointed his blue flaming sword at the young lord.
WHAM!
All of a sudden, bright purple circles began popping up on the ground right next to Lin Ming, and the soldiers watched with nervous expressions as multiple skeletons and zombified animals rose up from them, as though they had been pulled straight from hell itself!
"Well then, what are you waiting for?" He said, as he motioned at his enemies to attack.
----------------------------
"Hah.. hah…" Sorcerer Lin Ming, who was wearing dark grey robes, breathed in and out as he glanced at himself. His hair was disheveled and his clothes, which were torn into shreds, had now been sprayed with blood, making it crimson red.
'As I thought, there really was no way for me to win against them, was there?' Lin Ming thought to himself as he thought of the fight, and shook his head. As someone who had a C- grade talent when it came to magic, he knew what it meant to work hard and still be beaten by those who were more talented than him. Because of his C- grade talent, he did everything he could to make himself more powerful. He trained his body until he reached his limit, making great improvements in his speed, reflexes and technique, even learning martial arts. And yet, here he was, about to be defeated. He had reached the end of the line. After all, hard work can only get you so far in life.
He narrowed his eyes at the remaining soldiers. He hadn't even killed half of them yet. "They sure didn't underestimate me.." Lin Ming let out a short chuckle.
He then took a look at his surroundings, as droplets of blood began to flow down from the numerous wounds on the body. The skeletons and the zombified creatures that he had summoned were reduced to ashes. Enemies had surrounded him all around and he had no strength left in his body; there was no way out for him. He knew that he would die here.
Even so, the so-called 'dark sorcerer' remained calm. His gaze was quiet, his eyes like deep pools of water in a well, so deep that there seemed to be no end.
"Fiend! This is the end for you!" Young Lord Chen, who had accumulated a few injuries himself, stretched the hand holding his sword forward, positioning himself as he got ready to land the final strike on Lin Ming.
Lin Ming closed his eyes and waited, as though he had accepted his death.
Swoosh!
Within a split second, the young lord had closed the distance between the two of them, and he swung his sword with great force, aiming right for the enemy's neck.
Slash!
Lin Ming's head flew up into the air, and right before life left him and darkness devoured his soul, he whispered softly under his breath..
"To think that I lost my life… a second time…"
