Chapter 29 - Hoes Before Bros

Huo Man ate with relish, her speed at peeling the shrimp was over twice as fast as Shen Bei's.

Almost 80% of prawns on the was devoured by Huo Man. She was already well on her way to peeling her second shrimp, while Shen Bei would still be slowly peeling his first one.

Huo Man felt that this contrast was rather cute. The almighty President Shen was struggling at clumsily peeling shrimp.

A lot of people came and went through the food stalls and there was laughter and ruckus everywhere. Only Huo Man and Shen Bei's table was extremely quiet, each concentrating on eating their own food.

Huo Man didn't mind this at all. In the first place, her aim was to freeload a meal. The only conversation they could have had was about their engagement.

However, Shen Bei was also struggling to find a way to break the ice while eating with Huo Man to ease this damned silence.

Shen Bei had always been quiet while eating dinner with others, but for some reason, he couldn't stand saying nothing when he ate with Huo Man.

Did he really fall in love with this woman?

Shen Bei looked at the woman in front of him who didn't even care one bit about her image as she gobbled up the food. He racked his brains to why he could possibly have fallen in love with her.

However, his thought process was abruptly interrupted by a familiar voice, "Shen, Shen Bei?!"

Shen Bei and Huo Man looked up at the same time and saw Cao Chen looking at them as if he'd seen a monster.

"You… You're actually eating at a food stall?!"

In Cao Chen's mind, Shen Bei wasn't one to ever eat at one.

"So you're a guy that values hoes before bros! I've asked you countless times to come here with me, but you always refused! But when Huo Man asked you, you just agreed, didn't you?!" Cao Chen's mouth was quick to point out Shen Bei's betrayal.

Just as quickly, Shen Bei rolled his eyes at him.

Even though Shen Bei looked relaxed just now, Cao Chen broke out in cold sweat when he saw him rolling his eyes.

Cao Chen thus didn't even dare to breathe loudly. He hated himself for speaking out of turn.

"Shen Bei, remember to not eat too much spicy food. Your stomach can't take it." After thinking for a bit, Cao Chen decided to show some concern for Shen Bei. "You usually don't eat spicy food anyways."

To outsiders, he sounded like he was fawning over Shen Bei, but to him, he was actually warning Huo Man.

But it actually stunned her instead. Her gaze towards Shen Bei then started to shift to mockery for his intolerance to spicy food.

Thinking about it, there were only a few dishes on this table that weren't spicy.

It was only then that Huo Man realized that she didn't even ask Shen Bei if he liked the food.

Having had this realization, Huo Man was a little embarrassed.

"Well I think it's fate that brought us together. Why don't we share the table and eat together?" Cao Chen's gossip-loving heart was stirred. He didn't even care if he was third-wheeling them. He just wanted to sit next to the two and watch.

However, just as Cao Chen's butt was about to hit the chair, he slowly stood up again, spooked by Shen Bei's cold gaze.

"I don't mind. Since we've seen each other, why not eat together? It should be more fun with more people." Huo Man didn't mind at all. She found drinking with Cao Chen to be interesting. She thought of it as just making another friend.

But as soon as she said that, She Bei's gaze on Cao Chen grew even uglier.

Cao Chen almost wanted to just kneel down to Huo Man and urge her to be his protector. But wouldn't doing that make Shen Bei even angrier?!

Cao Chen was finally convinced that this good brother of his, that Shen Bei, had really fallen in love with this woman!

He put on a tactful smile and flicked his hair awkwardly before saying, "Fine. Fine. I'm still meeting up with some other friends later, so I'll go sit somewhere else."

After he finished saying this, Cao Chen ran away as if he was flying. He directly ran into a corner where Shen Bei couldn't see him anymore.

After their meal, Huo Man left with Shen Bei and got into the Maybach again.

Perhaps it was because he had eaten too much spicy food that night, but Shen Bei started to feel a sharp pain in his stomach not long after he got into the car.

His face instantly went pale and a thin layer of sweat quickly appeared on his forehead.

Huo Man turned and saw Shen Bei frowning in discomfort.

"Is your stomach hurting?" Huo Man thought of what Cao Chen had said and just blurted out this question.

Shen Bei thought that admitting to such things to Huo Man would damage his image, so he forced himself to say, "I'm fine."

"Xu Feng, make a stop at the nearest pharmacy." Huo Man commanded Xu Feng as she wasn't fooled by Shen Bei's words.

When Xu Feng glanced at the backseat through the rearview mirror and saw Shen Bei's current state, he immediately knew what had happened.
