"Miss Xuemei, greetings."
A small maid curtsied to Xuemei who stopped in her tracks, studying the maid with a furrowed brow as she asked in confusion, "What is it?"
She had just come out of the Sunny Snow Pavilion when she was stopped by this small maid.
The maid said, "I am Cuimoon, from Madam's service at the second son's family's residence. Madam Wang of the Zhu family and Madam Zhang have arrived and are now sitting in our courtyard. The two Madams wish to visit the Regent King's Consort. So, our Madam asked me to inquire."
The Zhu family and the Zhang family? Xuemei immediately had a grim premonition. The visit of these two Madams surely meant trouble.
Though she was aware, she could not independently decide to refuse them on behalf of her own Madam, so she said to Cuimoon, "You wait here while I seek the Consort's counsel."
"Yes."
Xuemei turned around and briskly entered the Sunny Snow Pavilion.
