Not long after, Xuemei returned with some pastries and said to her with a smile, "Your Highness, there's a new chef in Prince Manor who came from Shu. He speaks quite interestingly. I also brought a stack of Shu desserts called Sweet Potato Balls."
She then served the pastries; slightly reddish round balls about the size of a fingertip appeared on the plate. They looked nice, seemingly deep-fried.
She picked one up with a silver fork, and upon tasting it found the outer layer crispy, and the inside sweet, soft, fragrant, and glutinous. The aroma of sweet potatoes filled her mouth. Despite being fried, it didn't feel greasy at all and tasted very good.
After eating a few, she asked, "Why did we suddenly change chefs?"
In her previous life, she had never heard of a chef from Shu coming here.
Thinking of this, she suddenly felt inexplicably startled.
