Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Speechless

Who would have thought that just as he left the cave, burping loudly, someone stopped him.

The person who stopped him wore a bright yellow robe, exuding authority without anger, projecting an intense pressure. Jun Ning found himself tightly locked by a pair of hawk-like, sharp eyes, making it slightly difficult to breathe.

Judging by the aura, it seemed this was Emperor Yongning, the one in power.

Jun Ning easily guessed the identity of this person.

Subsequently, he wisely refrained from barging forward and waited for Emperor Yongning to speak.

But after a while, Emperor Yongning said nothing, just merely extended his hand to stop him.

Jun Ning took a deep breath and withdrew his gaze from Emperor Yongning, instead focusing on the arm stopping him, almost at his eye level.

"Would the esteemed one kindly let me pass? I'm in a hurry to get back for dinner... uh, I mean, to work."

Emperor Yongning did not let him pass and, with a half-smile, asked, "In a hurry to get back for dinner?" So the burp he heard earlier was fake?

"Um..." Jun Ning looked up at Emperor Yongning, "I misspoke just now."

"Misspoke, huh." Emperor Yongning's smile grew more intimidating, this little rascal really dares to speak!

Jun Ning somewhat regretted provoking himself, knowing how terrifying this person's gaze was; just one glance made his hair stand on end. Why did he keep looking?

He coughed twice, retracted his gaze, and muttered, "I still have things to do, need to go back and do the laundry, dump the dirty water, and also..."

He listed a bunch of chores, he seemed to do everything, not just his own duties but also others', never stopping for a moment.

Like a brick, he was moved wherever needed.

So, better let him go quickly.

Emperor Yongning felt a headache coming on, rubbed his temples, and stopped him: "Stop, stop talking."

"Oh!"

Jun Ning immediately shut his mouth.

However, Emperor Yongning still did not let him go, instead appraised him up and down with a complex expression, unclear what he was thinking.

Jun Ning pretended not to notice Emperor Yongning checking him out, glanced at the sun in the sky, and showed a hint of urgency on his face.

That look really seemed very, very urgent.

If Emperor Yongning had eyes, he shouldn't continue to stop him.

Yet Emperor Yongning wasn't buying it, to him, Jun Ning was just a little liar, not a single truthful word, only specialized in deceit.

After fooling Little Seventeen, now he's here to fool him.

Who would believe such a small person could do so much work?

Ha, Little Seventeen fell for it, but he definitely won't.

Very unceremoniously, he grabbed Jun Ning's arm, coldly interrogating: "Little rascal, confess honestly, what is your purpose in approaching Little Seventeen? Are you intending to harm him?"

"Also, what was your purpose in running to the Imperial Kitchen last time to mess with the chef? Were you planning to poison and harm everyone in the palace? Speak, who sent you?"

A barrage of questions was thrown at Jun Ning, leaving him not only a bit dumbfounded but also speechless.

This Dog Emperor must be paranoid, right?

He merely stole some food, then seeing that crybaby was hungry, he gave him some of what he had, is that really so malevolent as the Dog Emperor suggests?

Does he really look like a bad person?

No way!

He thinks his features aren't that bad.

Even if not the face of a good person, at least not a malicious bad person.

The Dog Emperor's judgment is really something.

Jun Ning mentally rolled his eyes big time, then fearlessly said, "I have no purpose at all, I don't understand what you're saying. You... you're hurting me, let go."
